Anyone remember Jason Hart or Todd Brugan! They’re the reason I like Syracuse. Who’s your favorite throwback college player??? Kenny Gregory! What about Kevin Freeman, lol.

Ew! Kenny Gregory and Eric Chenowith anchored what I reffer to as “The Dark Years” of KU basketball. That being said, some of my favorites were.

The Crispin brothers, Joe and John of Penn State
    Pete Mikeal of Cincinnati
Glen Robinson, the original one and done phenom 30ppg as a frosh!
Christian Moody, who Dicky V dubbed the greatest walk on of all time! I disagree with him there, but he was one of my favorites.

I played against the crispin brothers, and with the younger of the two… both went to pitman HS in NJ… Man could they shoot the lights out.. I played in a south / north jersey all star gm alongside of one of the pitmans and he just carried us to victory.. Dude was nice, so was his bro… I played with the one who went to UCLA b4 transferring to PSU..

@ Microwave: I remember when Thorton lit Duke for 40 points. Eric Barkley (who was apart of the Holy Trinity with Andre Barrett and the UCONN point guard) was also on that team.

@JoeWolf: Man you took it all the way back with the Crispins bros…That’s a blast from the past.

@j1232e: Van Horn. He was the first Dirk Nowitzti.

Tayshaun Prince at UK. The first NCAA tourney game I watched was when he took UK to the Sweet 16 in 99, but I may be wrong about the round. I think he dropped like 25 or something against someone from the Big East or ACC, I don’t remember quite well. Also, I liked Joseph Forte at Carolina. Dude could light up the scoreboard. Bummer that he flopped something serious with the Celtics

Marcus Fizer at Iowa State was a dominating bigger version of Charles Barkley… Just a double-double machine…

I love watching SHAQ during his L.S.U days….Ralph Sampson at Virginia,Keith Lee at Memphis in the early 80’s..Lee was 1 of the smartest b-ball players ever..But injuries made him end his nba career early…From the 1st moment i saw him during his freshman year.At Marquette ..I knew D-Wade was going to be special….Everyone was saying Dejuan Wagner was the best player in the conference….

He was unbelieveable when he was at georgia tech one of the best point guards in the nation. In his 2 years at georgia tech he went to the final 4 and he averaged 23 points 5 rebounds and 7 assists a game. He also had a pretty decent NBA career.

Ricky Price – I always thought he was so smooth and a good athlete, never got much love from the league.

Johny Rhodes – Defensive machine at the 2.

    Shawn Respert – Sniper.

Ed Cota – I don’t care who you want to bring up I am not sure I have seen a better pure point.

Devin Davis – A whirling dirvish of a player at Miami of Ohio for those who aren’t familiar. His hair went one way and he went the other.

This list makes me realize I miss the 90’s of college ball.

when i go back and think of college ball from 10+ years ago, i think of Toby Bailey(the guy in my pic), the utah squad with Andre Miller, Alex Jensen, Hanno Mottola and Michael Doleac(dang they were big). Trajan Langdon, Steve Logan, the battles between Jason Terry and baron Davis, the guys who helped turn gonzaga into an elite program like Matt Santangelo, Richie Frahm, Blake Stepp, and Casey Calvary. Pepe Sanchez from Temple.

I just feel like Toby Baileys best basketball was played in the Spring Semester of his Freshman year. After that yes his stats improved but I felt like it was just more of a by product of his increase in minutes after Ed, Tyus and George Zidek left. (Just wanna say the fact that George Zidek’s name came to mind so easily means there is way to much useless info in my head). He was a good college player all four years, my problem is I always felt like he should have been more then just good.

I was also fond of the old KU/OSU matchups in the early/mid 90’s back in the big 8 that featured a battle of slow, white, yet effective bohemoths Greg Ostertag and Bryant “Big Country” Reeves.

Kirk Hinrich at Kansas- he was a coach’s son… very coachable and a leader on the court… They just landed badly against ‘cuse in the 2003 NCAA Championship where Hinrich shot poorly…I believe it was 6 for 20… am i right?

Jawad Williams of my Carolina- I though this kid has a Joe Smith kind of game in him… kinda surprised he never got drafted by any team in the second round despite him saying “there are no 30 guys that are better than me…”LOL

Eugene Edgerson of Arizona- Boy, I love his hair… Really reminds me of what the ’70’s look like. He doesn’t do much but to me he was very entertaining…
