    Unless I missed it, Kyle Singler is no longer part of the 1st or 2nd round of the NBADraft.net mock. Can someone please check and verify if that’s correct?

    Although Singler’s an excellent college player, I happen to think his NBA potential is limited. He’s too slow for SF and isn’t strong enough to play PF. At best, I think he’s a guy who can come off the bench and give a team 12 to 15 mpg. In light of my assessment, I would place him somewhere in the first 5 choices of the 2nd round.

    The last time I looked on Draft Express, Singler was rated the 18th choice in their mock draft which I thought was too high for the reasons cited above.

    I guess they dont think Kyle is going to come out this year, they have him going 8th in next year’s draft

    would be smart if he stayed and polished his game one more season, learn to not get so out of control with driving with ball. Damn he is out of control driving the lane with all his circus shots!

    the problems that shingler has i dont think are gonna get adressed like they need to be in college. his game reminds me of a rich mans luke walton because he is pretty good at alot of things but not great at anything. also reminds me of james posey

    thats why he reminds me of luke..who isnt that fast either but smart and knows how to get to the right spots. i think kyle is better and more athletic though which is why i bring in the posey comparision. im sure there are other guys but those are the 2 people who first come to mind

    Finally, I’m so happy to see that we agree on something.

    Quincey, I’m with you on this one, Singler’s deficienices will not get any better with another year in college. Why? Because his skill set is already refined, his problems are a lack of quickness at SF and/or a lack of strength if he wants to move to PF. Those two deficiencies won’t change with another year in school.

    I also agree with your Luke Walton comparison, a guy who does a lot of things fairly well, but he doesn’t do anything outstanding. Let me qualify that statement somewhat, Walton is one of the best passing forwards in the game.

    I also like that he drives the lane instead of playing into the college game of standing outside the 3point line launching 3 after 3. If he works on his driving skills i see late lotto possibility.

    Although you’re right, Singler often drives to the lane and loses his balance, throwing up shots that will never go in, I happen to think his ability to drive to the hoop with both his strong and weak hand is his biggest strength. Far too often we see players standing around the 3 point line, firing up long range jump shots for the entire game.

    Unfortunately, Singler’s problem is a lack of foot speed. He is too slow when he drives to the hoop and that gives weak side help time to come over and often block his access to the basket. That’s why I don’t think he belongs in the first round. I would place him somewhere in the first 5 choices of the 2nd round.

    if he had the quickness and athletic ability of some other nba sf he would be very very good. i still think he can be good and even a starter and thats saying alot from me because i hate duke

    If only he were a little bit quicker, with his overall skill set he would probably go somewhere in the middle of the first round. Unfortunately he lacks the quickness necessary to be an outstanding SF in the NBA. He’s an excellent college player but I don’t think he will succeed at the next level. That’s why I would move him into the first five choices of the 2nd round where he has a chance to become a decent role player.

    Adam Morrison ruined any chance of Singler going in the lottery. I think he’d be a nice pickup for a team in the late 1st round, a contender. But I don’t like the Posey comparison because Posey is a quick-footed defender, while Singler isn’t quick footed nor is he currently, or projected to be, a good defender at the NBA level. Singler reminds me of a poor man’s Mike Dunleavy…

    I like the poor mans Dunleavy comparison. Dunleavy is taller and a better ballhandler, but otherwise, they have a very similar skill set.
