Dexter Pittman

I’m not sure about how good he will be yet.  I need to see him play more & how he performs this season against top notch teams like Kansas.

I did notice both nbadraft.net & draftexpress both have PIttman being drafted ahead of Damion James.  That is kinda crazy.  Looks as though Pittman will continue to rise while James falls. 

Damion James’ game doesn’t really translate to the NBA, he’s declared for the draft and pulled out the last 2 seasons because of unfavorable criticism from scouts. Pittman can develop into a poor man’s Shaquille O’Neal potentially..who would move him off low post?

Comparison…Big Baby Davis

That is a good comparison. I think Davis has better footwork and quickness. Now Davis has a better jumper, but in college he didn’t. Pittman might be more athletic than Davis. They both are big guys who use their strength well, rebound well, but don’t have great or conventional post moves yet. Also, they each have great touch around the rim. They both share one of the same biggest weaknesses in that both are extremely foul prone.

Pittman is very fundamentally sound, he could be a solid backup because of that and his strength, but I don’t see Big Baby comparisons at all except for his rotund physique. I think Stanley Roberts is an accurate comparison, I think that is what this site has him as, I know birdman loves this guy, but I don’t see him as more than a backup. It’s early season when a lot of teams haven’t played anyone, Markeiff Morris is shooting 93%, he is an inriguing prospect because of his size, but I think he is a 30-45 range guy.

I think he will be a late 1st early 2nd round pick, he is very large and could help low post D. More cordinated Erick Dampier anyone?

at 6’7” 227 doesnt he strike you guys as a james singleton/brandon bass type?

I saw that too, he has been good defensely, I’ve noticed him playing soft around the rim, he rarely dunks. He has good fundamentals, but he is too big to miss finger rolls around the rim when he should throw it down.

pittman reminds me of robert traylor. not the one who ate himself out of the league but the one who was pretty good. a slimmer version of him though. james keeps falling because he hasnt shown that he can play the sf on the nba level. if he could do that he would sky rocket up. right now he looks like a 4 but in todays nba he could possibly do pretty well
