A great play-by-play guy can make an average game seem interesting..Plus some have some funny & memorable quotes..Anytime i hear Dick Vitale do a game..I have to stop and listen..Even if its Division 2 game..He makes it seem like the game is the most important thing happening on the planet at the time..He gives unknown facts about the players and their chance at the next level, talks about the coaches..And he has a 1000 catch phases..Howard Cosell was also great ..His unique voice & personality brought in fans..That normally wouldn’t other wise watch the sport..Even though they would sometime missed pronounced players name and sometimes would lose track of who’s in the game.lol…Late announcers Chick Hearns & Johnny Most were entertaining..Plus Hearns is credited for invented the words ”SLAM DUNK and TRIPLE DOUBLE”….Old School guys like Gary Bender, Brent Musberger , Al Micheals, Marv Albert are great at their craft..Current guys like Kevin Harlan and Mike Breen’s play-by-play makes the games entertaining.. I enjoy listening to nba analysts like Hubie Brown, Doug Collins,Steve ‘Snapper’ Jones and Dr. Jack Ramsey ..They’re insightful and know whut they’re talking about…But who told some former players & coaches that just because they played or coaches the sport,That they should be calling it? Some guys should find other things to do after they’ve retired or got fired…Guys like Bill Walton, Mike Fratello, Reggie Miller, Eric Snow,Matt Goukas and Tom Tolbert…Snow spent several years playing with Lebron & Iverson yet still fails to give insightful tidbits about those players.. I remember when Kareem did analyst on some games ..He was so quiet i thought someone had turned off his mike…Even the play-by-play guy looked over and ask him was he still there?

Van Gundy and Mark Jackson are great…Hubie Brown has better basketball minds than those two, but I don’t think they should take them off from announcing. They are more entertaining and catchy than Hubie Brown, which is what I’d look for in a commentator, Brown isn’t nearly as entertaining as those two. Even though he’s much smarter when it comes to basketball.

No way man, I love Van Gundy, and the commercials are greattttt. haha. Seriously though, I remember watching a game like 2 seasons ago when Van Gundy was commenting and he was saying Kobe will get the offensive rebound off a missed free throw because the young guy boxing him out and it happened PERFECT. These guys are funny too. Just a great crew & the only real reason I watch the ABC Saturday games. Well unless it’s a couple of good teams. Vitale makes the game seem like that because his voice! haha. He’s great though, he really is. “IT”S BIG TIME BABY” “DICKIEEE V” I love them all man. Great Commentators, not to take anything away from Hubie Brown who has loads of knowledge for the game.

i hate Dickie V’s commentary with a passion…i refuse to listen to the call of any game he does. if the game is a must watch, i put it on mute. totally obnoxious and a pain to listen too…Hubie Brown, on the other hand, is the best analyst of any sport that i have ever listened too. he knows everything about everything, yet he never comes off as condescending. its like hes your grandpa explaining the game to you. perfection…
