anyone watch half time of the miami orlando game?…rose and mashburn said they have talked to iversons teammates in the past and his teammates said they loved him. plus how many hall of famers have been happen or willing to back up players there are better than? its not an excuse for how iverson has acted but at the same time i understand. also he didnt go out to find a reporter and tell him he doesnt like coming off the bench the reporter kept asking him “how you feel about coming off the bench” and he gave him a honest answer. if i was as talented as iverson id be upset too about backing up conley. the same conley that ya’ll on here bash and say should be traded

I understand to a point. He needs to realize that your not a starter in anyone’s plans. I mean I know it’s not comparable but Bill Walton came off the bench late in his career,

why cannot you? just do your job. Memphis never told Iverson he was gonna start and yet you sign with them and leave them in a whole.

but what star has came off the bench?..people say “well it will stunt the young guy”..but jordan made hamilton come off the bench when even with him starting they werent gonna do much. ewing put up a hell of a fuse and then retired. i don’t expect any star to be happy with backing up a guy they are better than. if you were signed on to write for espn and you had a long track record of being a good were would you be happy writing behind a guy who was fresh out of college and was a below average writer?..he said he wouldnt mind if the team was winning but if the team is sucking and you have someone that could help you win come off the bench behind a guy who has been stinking it up? and not like a d.jones who is starting because of good defense

Nobody would ever tell kobe, lebron, wade, melo, or any great player to sit behind scrubs that he’s better than. Even though he wasnt in the longterm plan you pay him respect by playing him in front of MIKE CONLEY! The number 6 in points per game in the history of basketball and number 2 in the playoffs were not talking about some average joe here. You have to let great player leave the game with some dignity.

yeah its easy from the outside looking in but if you were ever great in anything and you had to be put behind someone you are clearly better than then you would probably understand more. its hard for a person that good to have to deal with that. its no different then people retiring or quiting there job when they are under appreciated

Who was offering him a starting job? No one. He had to learn how to come off the bench or call it quits. He quit.

Is he better then a lot of starting pg’s? Absolutely. Could he have started over a bunch? Nope, that’s why no one went after him. The thing with Iverson is that you have to let him play his game. You can’t ask him to be a natural pg. You have to give him freedom to handle the ball and take his time to create off the dribble. Older veteran teams didn’t want to give him that power because it would interfere with team chemistry. Younger teams are trying to develop young guys and don’t want to hand the reigns over to a veteran to take most the shots. That’s why no wants him. He has every right to not want to come off the bench. But let’s not say he could easily be a starter, otherwise he would still be in the league. The Knicks didn’t even want to give him starter minutes and they have Duhon at point.
