valentineAs a Syracuse Native, I like the fact the man is getting the love. I do believe he’s gonna be a lotto pick…top 10 pick. But when we go top 5 pick? I dunno about that.
He has many good skills at 6-7. He can shoot and slash very well. I feel his defense is kinda underrated. But when you look at his opponents he played and did well against ( LeMoyne and North Carolina) you still gotta hold up because they were out of his league or there backcourt was new.
I wanna say lets slow down on this one. I feel when the guys like Favors, Davis, Monroe etc begin to step up- he will slide back into that 10-15 range.

MagikKnickParticipantI agree with you, but like you said….Until the others step up, he’ll be holding there spot for now…
But even with that being said, hes getting it done..Hitting 3s, pull-ups, slashing, driving, finishing, grabbin boards, blocking shots, snatching steals hes doing a little bit of everything out there, and effectively…
Season is still young though, the guys you’ve mentioned have plenty of time to catch-up

JNixonParticipantI think he has a chance to go in the top 5, depending on team needs. But he’s a top 10 talent though. If you see what I mean.

QHaynes20Yea. I agree he’s a top 10 pick. I rather take Xavier Henry over Johnson IMO.

quincey hodgesthis is the same thing i say about the freshmen, ya’ll need to slow down a lil bit. i like johnson though..while ya’ll wait to see IF these young guys step up this guy is already showing us his game and what he can do he’s not gonna just live off the hype cuz his game is doing the talking

QHaynes20I agree QH ( I have the same initials as you)
John Wall had me not liking freshman for a bit because people blew him up. But now? I’d say i was wrong, he is very talented and can be a very special player.
Sometime, we need to give the freshman time to pick up the pace. 9 times outta 10, you ask some freshman to go out of state, learn a whole bunch of plays and systems and gel with a team.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantJust to throw this out there, he has had 2 consecutive triple-doubles. I know this was after the fact but it looks as if he could be a top 5 pick if he keeps his play even close to this level. When I was watching him play, he sort of plays like a PG with a nose for rebounding. IDK though. I need to watch him some more.

FastAndFuriousParticipantNeed To Slow Down On Wesley Johnson And Evan Turner Both.
Wesley Johnson No Doubt Is Balling 4real But All This Top 5 Pick Is Crazy Dude Is More Of A Power Forward Right Now And Is Only 6-7. While He’s Doing That At The College Level No Way Will That Translate To The NBA.
Evan Turner,Cant Take Nothing Away From Him,Triple Double Is A Triple Double….BUT C’mon Look At The Teams He Has Done It Against! And On Top Of That Against UNC He Scored 23 Points True But Most Of Those Was When They Were Getting Blew Out And Seemed Like They Had No Chance Of Winning He Did Not Score In The Clutch….All Diebler And Buford. He Really Has Played Only ONE Solid Game Against Top Level Comp And Thats Cal.
O Not To Mention He Also Had 10 Turnover’s Against UNC

quincey hodgesbut we could use the same criteria for almost all the good teams young dave because most of them have played cupcake schedules..we would have to dismiss cousins big game, wall, henry because they did that against low level teams. turner showed how good he was last year so ill hacve to give him the benifit of the doubt and right now hes leading in the player of the year award but one person who hasnt been talked about much is right behind him(luke harengody)

Dhamp2ParticipantWhere was everyone when I was talking about Johnson….Hmmmm. I can’t stand people who jump on the bandwagon. The next time I saw someone is the a baller, take heed to what I say.
Dhamp2…the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.
1. Carmelo will lead the NBA in scoring.
2. Dwight Howard is overated.
3. Wesley Johnson is a top 15 pick and the best transfer in the country.
4. There’s no way Steve Nash should have two MVP, while Kobe has one.
5. The Lakers will 3hree-peat.
6. Eric Devendorf will be drafted (sorry about that one).
7. R.I.P. Earl Manigualt.
8. Brandon Jennings will win ROY
9. Matt Barnes is vastly underated
10. I don’t always dring beer, but when I do, I drink Dos Equis. Stay Thirsty my friends.0 - Posted on: Fri, 12/04/2009 - 1:04pm #235607
McWinningParticipantlol i was there i knew he would be good and pick up the scoring slack with Devendorf and Flynn leaving but i thought he would be more of a late first than a lottery pick.

quincey hodgeslol…there were a couple of people talking about him on other sites. but of course no one said anything because that would have been dumb to get on the bandwagon of a player no one has ever seen. like when i mentioned elijh millsap, josh huestis, dj wright. only about 3 people were on there bandwagons but now they have alot more on the bandwagon. and next year everyone on the site will be on dj wrights bandwagon

quincey hodgesmat barnes hasn’t looked good at all this year. and his bread and butter (3pointer) has been horrible

QHaynes20i mentioned elijh millsap, josh huestis, dj wright.
why didn’t you call him your nephew in this post?

RUDEBOYStop the Wesley Johson is sooooooo overrated ..I must admit dude is balling right now..But to say he’s a top 5 pick is going to far…He’s doing great becuz of the system he’s in..Plus teams haven’t adjusted their defenses to stop him yet..But they will..Let’s wait and see how he’s playing in February ..Before you guys start labeling him a superstar…He reminds me alot of Demar Johnson..Remember him from Cincy. He was on the team ..The same time K-Mart was there….He had good around skills..Long & lean..The Hawks drafted him number 6 overall….

quincey hodgesbecause there are still some people who dont know who im refering to when i say hes my nephew. why do you ask?

MkadozaParticipantHe rudeboy, what about the Syracuse system is helping Wes Johnson hmm? North Carolina knew Wes was the top player with a great shot and athletic ability, but they could do nothing. Wes Johnson is a mature player that understands his strengths and weaknesses and how to use his strengths to their maximum ability. He strikes me as a worse case Rasual Butler, and best case, Josh Howard with a consistent three pointer.

QHaynes20To be honest. Wesley Johnson reminds me of like a Danny Granger type player.
I don’t think he will be a top 5 player in this draft…I’m cool with top 10.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 12/05/2009 - 12:00pm #235854

MkadozaParticipantI’ll just say, when he rips up the Big East, he’ll have to get his props. As if lighting up Cal and UNC in consecutive nights wasn’t enough…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 12/05/2009 - 12:00pm #235855
quincey hodgesi think he could depending on how far his team goes…a player can really move up in the draft if they are good and they lead there team far in the ncaa..alot of people are talking about how this cuse team reminds them of the cuse team that won the title
0 - Posted on: Sat, 12/05/2009 - 12:02pm #235856

JNixonParticipantI like the Granger comparison alot…
