Sanders or Varnado?

To be honest, I don’t like either one as NBA prospects…..but if I had to choose, I’d choose Varnado. He’s more efficient, as you said, offensively.

Varnado right now. He would be more of a rotation player who could step in immediatly. He has low-bust potential and would be a difference maker right away (even if he is just making a difference for 10-20 minutes). My point is that you know what you are getting with Varnado.

I’ve only watched highlights and a couple games of Varnado, so I don’t know his game too much into detail, but I go to VCU and go to most of the games. It’s true Larry’s points are mostly dunks, alley-oops, or around the basket, but damn his game is getting alot better. Especially last game against Oklahoma he was tearing it up with hook shots and even hitting a 3. His mid range shot is getting pretty consistent and the big men cant space him out too much now. Also he even dribbled and brought up the ball during OKU’s full court press. Everyone raves bout his defense, and it is nasty..he completely changes how teams play, his arm length is so disgusting like scouting reports are not exaggerating about his length…But his offensive game is getting there, to a point where hes becoming the main scoring option on the team, he made every basket when the team needed it in the game, and made OKU big men look a fool especially tiny gallon. I thought Larry was getting overhyped, but after this game i think I see why he is hyped so much, people were saying Willie Who during the game. Willie Warren looked out of place the whole game he couldnt drive in the lane cause larry was blocking and altering his shots all day. The biggest problem for Larry right now seems to be getting into foul trouble lol.

Can’t wait to catch one of those VCU games on ESPNU or one of those Fox Sports channels, I’ve heard Sanders was a beast, just haven’t had a chance to see him play yet. I was curious about yesterday’s stat line with a 3 made and two attempted, does he really have that kind of range already? From what people were saying last year about him it sounded like he had no offensive game what so ever. If this kid has that type of growth watch out, especially with the physical skills he already has to boot. If that continues I wouldn’t be surprised to see a player of his stature to be a Top Ten pick. Outside Wall, Favors, Davis, Warren, most likely Aldrich, and possibly Aminu, who else looks like a pretty surefire Top Ten? I keep hearing Turner on here and Wesley Johnson on ESPN.com, but could Sanders with consistency be a Top Ten pick?

Varnado is a very safe pick. He’ll be a solid bench player for his whole career, but he might not ever be good enough to start.

Sanders is a very dangerous pick. He could be an All-Star if he continues to develop his all-around game, as some indications this season have pointed to. But he’s still unpolished. He’s a guy who could probably use another year of college, but it might only hurt his draft stock.

Personally, I would take Sanders. At the point where you’re looking at a solid role player compared to a star-caliber talent with big bust potential, you take the gamble.

Neither should be lottery picks this year, unless Sanders really turns it up beyond what he’s ever done in the past.

I’ll take Sanders just because he has much more upside.  VCU has a pretty impressive win over Oklahoma already this season.

I dont think neither of them will develop into big time players, but they’ll both be solid defensive big men in the NBA for a long time, you can just tell that they’ll have long careers because of the qualitys that they can bring to an NBA club

But I like Sanders game better, a bit MORE polished offensively, but i wouldnt go as far to call either of them polished.
