valentineHaving options is a wonderful thing for a player and Europe seemed like a bit of a panacea. After all, while NBA players pay taxes on their own salaries in the United States, European teams have made it a standard practice to pay the taxes of their stars.

Salaries are also high because there are fewer restrictions on expenditures. While the NBA flourished financially by ensuring that the league’s rising financial tide would continue to lift all league franchises – namely, a salary cap – European clubs are not similarly constrained. “In Europe, an owner can spend as much as he wants. He doesn’t have any limitations. The NBA has limitations: the luxury tax and salary cap,” says Mr. Capicchioni.
He points to other advantages for European players. For instance, clubs often pay taxes on player salaries. An apartment, a car, and airplane tickets are also included in the bargain, according to Capicchioni. “In Europe, we’re always talking net, not gross money,” he says.

Summer 2008 sees American league losing foreign players to wealthy European clubs. ‘ Players like Nachbar and Delfino have made the NBA dream come true and earned enough, but realized they won’t become superstars over there,’ agent says. Dwayne Wade: If a European team offers me 40 million dollars a year, tax-free, I might have to go over there

JoeWolf1Yeah, from what i’ve heard depending on the league it varies, I was reading an article a while ago, about Sasha Kaun who is playing in Russia, and he said about the same things you were saying Quincey, they gave him an apartment, all that stuff etc.

whiteflashParticipantSigh. If you had actually played overseas you’d realize that the team takes out money from each check to pay these taxes. It’s called contractul loopholes. Nothing -and I mean NOTHING – comes free when you’re dealing with that kind of money. And, once again it’s quite regular for Americans to get payed late and in some cases not at all, and they rescind on their contracts and head home. What a European team promises and what they deliver are often two entirely different things. Even C league teams offer housing and transportation, and give per diems for food and other expenditures, but so does the NBA on those last two. I never once said the NBA pays for your housing and car dumba$$. Along with being a liar your reading comprehension [and spelling and grammar] suck balls. Enjoy lala land.

quincey hodgessorry but they dont take it out of youre check,,the team ower pays the tax..when ou sign to play for 5k a month(as i did) you get that 5k minue nothing..when my brother played for 200k a month he got exactly 200k..when our boy tanaka beard signed for 1.5million for 6months he got exactly that so dont tell me what you do and dont get cuz i actually lived it…and the topic isnt if they dont pay you sometimes because that happens alot also but the topic is if you have to pay any taxes or not which you dont….who ever you getting youre info from you need to tell them to stop lying to you and the money isnt free you are playing for it..see thats the problem with you and other people who dont know much about eurobasketball..even when someone tries to explain it to you you think you know it all..the way they do business is alot different then how the nba or american leauges do business..truth be told you not only get youre contract but as they call it here “under the table money” except there is no rules for that so its over the table extra money..these owners re rich beyond rich and there leauge loses more then they win as far as money but most of there main priorities is to beat a rival team…the nba only gives player food on team flights and after games when they have there lil buffet tray..over seas the owenrs take you to top of the line resturants and give you a car and pay for youre place…like i said slap who ever you are getting youre info from or just slap youre self is no one is giving you the info…go ahead and ask any player thats played oversea and they will tell you the same thing..and ive already showed the proof….the only proof you have is youre word…which holds no weight since you have never played overseas.

whiteflashParticipantDude, you’re an idiot. I’m explaining it to you and you’re not getting it. Also, you say the NBA doesn’t give players per diems for food and other expenditures? You wanna double check that, ’cause I know FOR A FACT they do. I used to work out with Anthony Goldwire, who played in Greece for Olympiakos and a team in Spain and has played for a handful of NBA teams. I don’t care about your made up stories . You’re wrong.

whiteflashParticipantDude, I already acknowledged it. That money is coming from somewhere, and it ain’t their pockets. Also, how the f@ck are we supposed to believe anything coming out of your mouth? No one here knows who you are, other than you have 4 profiles and none of ’em know sh!t about basketball. Also, logging on to your other accounts to give yourself points while taking others away is REALLY, REALLY GAY. Go study the game and come back under a different account and people might start taking you seriously.
