Allen Iverson is on the Knicks’ radar. Donnie Walsh confirmed tonight that the club will explore signing the former MVP, who parted ways with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Once Iverson clears waivers on Wednesday he will become a free agent and can negotiate with any club.

It all really depends on where Iverson’s mind is. Does he want to be a contributor on a playoff team or a starter and shoot a ton of shots on a team that’s going nowhere? If starting and shooting a ton of shots means that much to him, then what better of a place to do it than in the Garden?

i think it woul dbe a goo dpick up..the only porblem iverson seems to have is comming off the bench..he wants to win as much or more then most players and is willing to put his body through hell to get the team wins

I dont like it because our guards currently consist of Nate Robinson 5’9″, Chris Duhon 6’1″, Toney Douglas 6’2″, and Larry Hughes 6’5″. We need some size in the backcourt. Not another undersized scoring guard. nate and Douglas already have similar games to Iverson. I’d rather give the minutes to Douglas.

it doesnt matter how small your guards are because this team is going nowhere. you sign iverson for the rest of the year, watch him get 25 to 30 points per game, win a few more games so that the jazz draft pick(which you gave to them) wont look so bad. better a 8-10 draft pick than top 5. this would be a move to keep fand happy until the off season when something COULD happen. Until then you get to watch possibly the best player ever inch for inch pound for pound.

As a Knicks fan, i would rather see us develop Douglas and get him alot of minutes rather than rent Iverson for a season and hear him complain. This season is lost. Play the kids. If the Knicks were in the hunt I’d say take him because they need a go-to scorer in tight spots but Douglas and Gallinari are slowly emerging as guys who could take that mantle.

Yeah, with an unbias view, I’m mixed between the signing of Iverson as trina and knicks pointed out in their arguments. I would think developing Duhon and Douglas would be the better route for them to take at this point. (Besides, I’m a Jazz fan, so getting a Top 5 pick *ahem*1st over*ahem* would be great 😀 )

i think this move also helps calm down some of the knicks fans because iverson would give them a couple more wins and hes exciting even at his age now and will sell tickets and jersey’s

ya but you could let toney douglas play with iverson. i think it would be a humbling experience for him, especially guarding AI in practice. Id rather sit Chris Duhon in my opinion. I mean if the season is lost, bring in AI to play the point, have hughes as the 2 and bring Nate and Toney in off the bench to score. Chris Duhon may not be there next year either and he is a solid backup at best. Personally I think they need to get rid of Nate or get him to sign a like 4 or 5 mil per year deal because you cant overpay a 5’8″ SG. Get what you can for him. the Knicks have so many holes its hard to talk about them all. If it were me, since I dont have my lottery pick, I sign AI, Play AI, Hughes, Chandler, Lee, And Darko. With Douglas, Hill and Harrington off the bench and lesser minutes for everyone else.

knicks have no problem selling tickets as is..They are 5th in attendance so far this yr, and their tm is terrible… There is no need to sign AI to sell tickets..(http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/attendance) I personally think he could thrive in a system like Dantonis…The Jersey selling comment quincy made does hold some clout…. i think he also would bring excitement to the tm

Interesting rumor on AI with the Knicks… I think they have nothing to lose here since they are really playing bad especially when their main court general is Chris Duhon… This could be a break Allen needed because he could start as a PG for the Knicks which he ultimately wished and complained while he was at Memphis…

Douglas is making leaps and bounds and is slowly becoming more confident as the starter. He needs to build chemistry with Gallinari, Hill, and Chandler who are the only definite future players for the Knicks. Signing Iverson might help in the short run but it would stunt the growth of Toney. I’d rather him keep taking steps forward than have Iverson kicking him back down the ladder.
