getacombwatching the game as well, cousins played what, like 4mins hahaha and jwall is forcing stuff. they fell behind big, but really made a nice run from their defense and this dodson kid can shoot it. as can that mofo on miami, jesus, 6 3’s in the first half

quincey hodgeshalf time…some kid named dodson has j work..he hit about 3 threes..other then patterson it doesnt look like kentuckys big men are gonna do awhole lot on offense..cousins got in foul trouble in no time

quincey hodgesyeah hes knocking that thing down..lol

JNixonParticipantI’m watchin too:
Cousins was really doing nothing. He got in foul trouble real fast.
Bledsoe has looked OK, he’s a better passer than Wall right now…but he’s got to play more under control.
Wall is going to be good. He’s like Derrick Rose with more scoring ability. He does need to play more under control though.
Patterson is going to work in the post with his strength. He reminds me of a poor man’s Antonio MyDyess.
Dodson is a good shooter. He’s their best shooter as a matter of fact. He won’t try to slash much though.
Orton has been good finishing around the rim. That’s how he gonna score most times.

quincey hodgesone of the knocks on wall in hs was he plays at one speed and needs to learn how to play the half court game..im sure eventually he will settle down and learn but i figured he wouldnt dominate from jump ball like alot of people on here said..said it before and will say it again..the competition is better then hs and its gonna take these freshmen time to adjust and most if any are gonna just dominate

Bryant24ParticipantJohn wall is going to be good but to be great he needs to work on his jumper and improve in the halfcourt.

getacombhis jumper is reallllly slow, it jus got blocked by like a 6′ foot dude, that shoudn’t happen. regardless if UK wins, they have a long way to go, its not gonna be as easy as these kentucky diehards thought it would be

0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 3:41pm #230455
getacombplaying with much better effort, 4 pts recently and some good boards
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 3:45pm #230456

JNixonParticipantWall has 14 pts, 3 assts, 3 boards, 2 stls and 4 TO’s. He’s been OK.
Cousins has stepped up. He’s been all over the glass so far since he got back in.

MagikKnickParticipantLove Walls ability to get to the foul line, thats one of things that can decide a game, and you cant teach
Patterson is gonna be something special..i like his game
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 3:57pm #230460
getacombenjoying this game a lot, even though bledsoe had an outstanding debut the other night and looks like a good player, right now he plays really out of control
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 4:02pm #230461

JNixonParticipantYea, Bledsoe reminds me alot of Jrue Holiday right now but he has the potential to be a Rondo type. He has kinda loose handles for a PG too, that needs to improve.

quincey hodgesespn 360..and both eric and john need to take care of the ball better..i think that unc game is gonna be closer then i thought..cousins seems to have picked it up but i wouldnt bet on him against a good big man..that nick kid is killing them though…unless things change this kentucky team is gonna struggle against a good team
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 4:10pm #230464

JNixonParticipantI think this Miami team could flirt with the tournament, they seem like an NIT team at least so far.
0- Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 4:16pm #230468

Johnny KilroyParticipantWall hits the game winning jump shot and UK pulls out a tight game. One thing I noticed about Wall is that he carries the ball an awful lot. Maybe it was just me, but did anyone else notice this?

JNixonParticipantThat was a GREAT play by John Wall!!
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 4:20pm #230470

Bryant24Participantgreat play by john but he still needs to work on his jumphsot and controling the tempo and turnovers but it was his first game maybe he just was nervous

quincey hodgesman they got lucky..this is the same miami team that just lot to towson(yep maryland team) by double figures…wall looked good but not great which in a way is good so he will have that hunger to try to get to great..kentucky is gonna have a long season though if they play like this everynight
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 4:22pm #230473

butidonthavemoneyNice play by John Wall, but I don’t see Kentucky doing anything thing this season. I had them pegged for the Final Four, but after watching them play, I deem them too stupid.
I hope John Wall gets more comfortable running things.
Not impressed at all with Cousins.
Orton played fine, I guess.
Patterson played well.Fun game to watch.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 4:31pm #230479

JNixonParticipantThey got lucky? You think Kentucky was lucky? Cause I think it was the other way around lol. There a young team, I very seriously doubt they play like this all season. They’ll have some bad games though, but don’t expect performances like this to happen often. Especially towards the middle and end of the season. The mistakes they made were freshman mistakes, I think they’ll improve on most of it as the season progresses.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 4:34pm #230482

butidonthavemoneyI hope you’re right. They have so much talent, but they played like a mediocre high-school team on speed.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 4:41pm #230490

JNixonParticipantYea, I hope they can get their half-court offense together. They look real uncomfortable in their set offense right now. But it seemed like Miami was just unconscious shooting the ball though, which made the game closer than it should’ve been. So I feel they’ll do better.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 5:01pm #230499
quincey hodgesyeah i think they got lucky..theres no way that game shoul dhave been close..this is the same team that just lost by 11 to towson and whos talent level is way lower..there guard defense shouldnt have allowed the open looks that they gave up.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 5:07pm #230504

JNixonParticipant.”this is the same team that just lost by 11 to towson and whos talent level is way lower..”
You say things like Miami lost to Towson, their talent level is way lower, and then say Kentucky got lucky….doesn’t quite make sense.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/16/2009 - 5:28pm #230521
quincey hodgesbecause i dont believe kentucky won by there skill..i think they won by there natural talent which is why i think they were lucky

Rock_Cat78ParticipantUK fan here. First, this UK team has 6 new players, 5 of them Freshman, a new coach, and a new system. They are going to look rough the first few weeks, but they will be a load by the time Jan/Feb rolls around. If you are going to get them, you better do it early. Second, Miami made 15-26 threes tonight. Some Winbush guy lost his mind shooting 8-10 on threes. Not many teams win when the other team is that hot from the outside. All in all, Cal will use this game as a teaching tool and they’ll learn from this.
