festar35ParticipantIs Dahntay Jones this years John Salmons? Blossoming late as an offensive player.

TwoCentsTVParticipantHe might be this year’s John Salmons. This is the first year that he’s really had the opportunity to score, and it looks like he’s improved his ball-handling too. Trevor Ariza is another guy who’s surprised me, I never knew that he had that much talent. Then again, it’s hard to show how well you can create shots when you’re playing next to a guy like Kobe on the perimeter. I’d like to see Ariza get to the foul line a little bit more often, but he looks great so far. They both look great.

sheltwon3ParticipantI would not make that comparison but I think he is playing really well of late and it is funny how Memphis had this guy as first and did not know what to do with him.

festar35ParticipantAriza is most definitely better offensively than i thought but he only 23-24yo and has heaps of time to improve. Where as Salmons was 28 last year and Jones is 28 this year and looks to be breaking out. he attacks the rim so aggressively.

NYK2010ParticipantAriza has talent first that idiot Larry Brown didn’t want to play him then Orlando trades him.
Next Lakers decide to be cheap with him. Rockets probably got lucky but they’ll take it, he was always a slasher now he’s improved his shooting.
Jones i thought was overrated but guess he is coming into his own.0 - Posted on: Sun, 11/15/2009 - 8:51am #230067

IndianaBasketballParticipantWent to the Celtics game and Jones was impressive lol. He had 25 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. He outplayed Paul Pierce in every aspect of the game. He was VERY aggressive defending Pierce and shut him down for the most part. Pierce only had 15 on 4-10 shooting (though he was on the second game of a back to back). Jones looks like a different player right now.

JNixonParticipantJones has always been a tough (sometimes dirty) defender, but the ball-handling he’s been showing has been a suprise. I thought his jumper was getting better last year,so I saw the improvement there somewhat. But he’s looking less and less like the 5th option I thought he’d always be. It’s surprising no doubt.
Ariza is really surprising me. I didn’t think he’d be a factor much at all in Houston, as a matter of fact I said he’d be the most disappointing free agent this summer. I thought he’d be a spot-up shooter and defender, which would’ve been vastly overpaying for that kind of role. But he’s also shown better handles than I expected.
Good for both of them!
