I would say that bench has to be one of the best in the NBA right now.

yea i gotta agree as far as one of the deepest..wit gasol back odom is a very good player off the bench, luke is good, dj is good ..though they may not have the sexiness of the magic or other teams they effect the game in different ways then just scoring..dj can board and blk like a starter luke is a very good passer and unselfish and odom can do it all..then you have brown and farmer who would start on a coupel other teams

oh i forgot pwell…they have benga ,odom, brown ,powell, brown and farmar..what makes them deepr liek i said is because the guys play defense and offense and not just score..benga showed what he can do when he starts….double figure rebounds and 4 blks..we know bwhat brown can do and farmer does pretty well..odom is a boarderline all star..you got to look at everthing not just offense..they may not be a group that scores as well as a orlando bench but they do other things every well and they dont need to score alot because odom can drop buckets, and powell can get double figure as well as brown,farmar

their back-up center is gasol, who is also power forward. Odom is not a true power forward, Walton is not that good. Their depth is the weakest part of the team. If Gasol, Odom, or Bynum gets hurt, as has happened in the past, Luke Walton will be their top backup big man. And he isn’ really even a pf. He can’t defend down low (or on the perimeter for that matter).

The Lakers aren’t that deep. Get that Lakers bias out of here. They just have five very strong players in Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, Odom and Artest. Fisher is on the downside of his career and other than Odom, there’s not one player on their bench (MAYBE Farmar) who could start for another team. Walton, Vujacic, Brown, Powel and Mbenga are all role players who only fit well in the Lakers’ system.

I think Orlando and Portland are the two deepest teams in the NBA.

i dont think they are the deepest team but they are up there…you are just lookign at scoring instead of all aspects of the game like defense rebounding etc…so brown cant start over mike conley?.. ..orlando bench can score but they cant stop anyone which has been shown and talked about each game they have lost..and im not the only one that thinks the laker have a pretty deep bench..if you watched and listened to last night games and watched tnt you will see other peopel who talk about basketball for a living and have knowledge thinks so also

actually i would say they have one of the best /productive/efficant bench in the nba but not nessasarly the deepest…and come playoff time and time again they prove it

How many times have we heard Phil Jackson criticizing the Lakers’ bench play and productivity? They consistently give up leads. You’re biased. The Lakers have a very strong five and a SOLID bench of role guys who fit well in the system. The question was who are the three deepest teams in the league and the Lakers are NOT in the top three.

No… Brown could NOT start over Conley. Before he came to the Lakers, Brown was a nobody. He was a nobody when he played for the Cavaliers and he was pretty much a nobody with the Bobcats. He fits well in the triangle because it hides his weaknesses.

yeah ariza wasnt that highly thought of either..just because you dont do that well for one team doesnt mean you cant play..you are either stuck behind good players or the coach feels you arent ready…doesnt mean you dont have talent just means you arent in the best situation..happend with many many players but its obvious now that brown gets time that he can play..even when they arent running the triangle…and yeah the lakers bench sometimes doesnt produce..the saem can be said for dalls spurs and orlando( there bench got smashed the other night)…and id put brown over conley and im pretty sure if you ask around most people would also…you forgot to add that brown can handle the ball so lets see he can handle defend dunk and hit spot up jumpers( and obviously you havnt been watching because he can also create shots off the dribble

Lakers dont have the deepest but they do have the most talented team. Their top 8 is better than anybodies top 8 but after that it is a big drop off. San Antonio is looking deep but the thing is their talent level is not that great. They have average guys who can do some stuff but that worked for the Piston that one year but not for San Antonio. Outside of their big 3 they have role players. Jefferson does not play well when the big 3 is healthy so i include him in role players and same for him if Parker plays. I like Roger Mason but he does not get minutes anymore. Lakers need to move Farmar if they can because he just doesnt fit in the picture anymore. Shannon Brown is a better player for their system because he is athletic, can shoot the 3, can defend, and can pass at a decent level. He also has a physical way about him. Luke Walton does not produce stats much now but he is versatile and can make the right passes and he is the perfect role player because he can come in for spot minutes and contribute without missing a beat. DJ and Powell are actually better than I realize. I remember back in the day Powell could have been a lottery pick but came out too early and with some baggage. The Lakers are super scoring bench player away for being the deepest team because after their almost all star 5 players everyone is specialist that play their roles well are are growing. Vujacic and Farmar are not doing well but at least when he is on Vujacic is that shooter they need. Farmar does better on broken plays and just by scoring and with Brown there now, he does not really fit with a second unit that will soon have Odom and sometime Ron Artest and either Gasol or Bynum while Kobe rests. In all honesty if you are healthy you only really need 9 players and guys after that are for injuries protection and if you are blowing a team out. Some of Orlando’s depth actually hurts them because when healthy most of the time they have guys that could start not getting any minutes and yet only a few of their players are all star worthy. It is actually better to have a more talented top 5 then to have 10 players between decent and great. Some players have to be used to being role player because some stars can’t be role players. Also with that much depth in the regular season, you should not have to play any of your player over 35 minutes.

its because they get the job done in the playoffs…they step up when they are suppossed to and are proven..if what they do is exxaggerrated then there are alot of fans and experts who constantly exxaggerate here contribution to games
