He is tearing it up, I said a few days ago on here I think he is going to have a resurgent year and put up numbers comparable to his MVP years. His 21 and 20 performance last night was very impressive.

he’s 35 years old. He’s at the point [no pun intended] in his career when most PGs are slowing down or ready to retire. In my opinion, he was the best PG on the planet those two MVP years. But after last season, I thought age was catching up with him and we would never see Steve Nash perform at an elite level again. I was dead wrong!

Nash and the Suns are doing phenomenal this season more then anyone expected. Nash is creating shot opportunities for his teammates and they are hitting the shots. Amare is doing well coming off of surgery and they will definitely be a team to watch out for. I find the way they play very interesting and the Nash’s passing is amazing too as always. The way he is playing is like he did in his twenties which is not good for other teams.

Nash is the best pg right now, I agree. I still think Paul is the best, but Nash is running the show and leading a very good team. They tried putting Iguodala on him last night and he was breaking him down as well.

he’s not the best that still goes to chris paul. for 1 he is still a horrible defender and hes turning the ball over 4.6 times a game. How can people on here say westbrook isnt a true point cuz his turnovers and then say nash is the best in the league when he almost turns the ball over as much as westbrook? paul competes hard on both ends of the court and hes also shooting better than nash and is only turning the ball over 2 times a game. Nash is playing great but not the best in the league cuz you cant be considered if you play no defense

Chris Paul: 26ppg 10asst (63% FG and 68 3ptFG) dude is playing insane, personally I think Paul is playing the best right now… Nash is having a nice season too but not on the level of Paul… Paul’s teamates need to step their games up..

Ive had enough of putting aalllll the blame on Paul’s teammates, How about the coach? How about Paul’s attitude towards his teammates on the court? How about him doing one of the worst choke jobs of all time in the playoffs last year?

Nash’s team is actually winning, pretty handily, and he is main reason why, as Paul’s team is layin an egg again.

This isn’t a knock on Chris Paul because he’s fantastic. However, Nash’s major strength has always been making his teammates better. If you will remember his first year in Phoenix, he transformed a team loaded with talent, that was going nowhere, into an elite offensive machine.

Steve Nash has a knack for controlling the game and getting all of his teammates involved. No one in the league does it better. Maybe Chris Paul can learn something by watching Nash?

    Mmmm…
    Devin Brown- third string SG
Peja Stojakovic- started the year on the bench (WAAYY over the hill) strictly a spot up shooter
David West- average at everything but he does have a good mid range (decent third option) and he is the teams second option.
Emeka Okafor- undersized C, NOT and offensive threat
    Julian Wright- BUST
    Mo Pete- Garbage
James Posey- 3 ppgs 3 rebs (regular stat stuffer)

Byron Scott isnt that great of a coach but he is a solid coach, he did lead a team to a finals.. I wouldnt say Paul chocked last year he didnt have help versus Denver (one man cant beat a team)..

Nash has always played with elite athletes and finishers in Phoenix (STAT, JRich, Marion, Joe Johnson, Barbosa).. I think going to Phoenix did as much for Nash as Nash has done for Phoenix, if he was so GREAT why didnt the Mavs lt him go?? Nash is a product of the media his two MVPS where a joke.. Paul is only 24 and he is waaay ahead of Nash at the same age…

billyk, I agree that the media hype is a big reason he won those 2 MVP’s, I didn’t think he deserved either of them. But I did think he should have won it the year they gave it to Nowitzky. But there was no way they were gonna give Nash 3 in a row, so the one year he actually deserved it he got screwed.

Dude the Phoenix Suns teams is pretty stacked compare to New Orleans and downplaying their talent is stupid.

Channing Frye who’s been a bust everywhere.
( this is not true played well in New York and could not get minutes in Portland but played well when give minutes in Portland and in phoenix he compliments Amare inside game and can also shoot the 3 ball)

Grant Hill who’s old, brittle, and on his last legs.

(Grant Hill is playing like his is young again to some degree and he was already a student of the game so you have a vet like player who does not make many mistakes and he can still hang to some degree with the young boys)

    J. Richardson who’s either on fire or ice cold.

(If he was consistent he would be an All Star, he is a great athlete and he can shoot well but he does disappear a lot but Nash is the guy to make sure that he is involved)

Louis Amundson who can’t shoot beyond 2 feet from the basket.

(guy is a hustle player playing with a guy who can find you so all he has to do is work hard and finish when he gets the ball close)

Leandro Barbosa whom I can never figure out what he’ll bring to a game

(one of the fastest and quickiest guys in the league and if he were on another team getting starter minutes, he would average about 20 a game but as a bench player he gives off a spark a lot of game and some he does nothing)
    G. Dragic, everyone says he cannot play

(The do need to replace this guy but he has looked alright recently)

Robin Lopez who has no offense

(He is hurt now and his offense is behind his brothers but it is not as bad as people say it is, he just needs minutes to be healthy and to get his head in the game)
Jared Dudley who’s another big time bust

(a great hustle defender type that can shoot the 3 very smart player. How is this guy a bust when he is playing better than most though he would play and I dont think he got drafted that high)

Amar’e Stoudemire, a great athlete(lol are you kidding me he is not just a great athlete but offensively he is a handful to deal with but on defense hey he has his moments as few as they are but he is a All Star)
All in all this team is very talented and when people said they would miss the playoffs I was looking like are these people stupid. I am surprise at how good they can out of the gates though but then again offensively their team a handful and they can outscore most teams even the good ones.

Steve Nash is probably the second best point right now behind Paul because they would be unbeaten if Paul had the same level of teammates. I am a New Orleans Hornets fan but right now they suck and some of that goes to the coach. He needs to play the rookies more and quit trying to play subpar players that make few mistakes when they have more talented but mistake prone players that need to grow and would help them right now. Paul can help erase the mistakes but he can not carry this team offensively like he is trying to do.

He played great, he made Lou Williams (who is a poor, poor defender) look like a poor, poor defender last night. Nash may very well run the pick and roll the best in the NBA today. He was outstanding yesterday, I must say. But yea, I wrote him off very bad at the beginning of the season as well…..he’s proving me wrong.

I think that we have two different point gaurds with two totally different games. Steve Nash is pass first and hit the big shot type of pg (and he can score at will) while Paul is more of a scoring pg. You can make arguments for both, but at the end of the day, i would put nash in my starting 5 because of the leadership qualities he brings and how he just MAKES his team win. he also has the highest basketball IQ and best court vision in the entire game. Paul is a better defender and scorer, but i just dont see him leading his team to many victories. If you put Nash on the hornets, he would find what his teamates were good at (like hes done with the suns) and play to there strengths, giving his team plenty more opportunities to win than paul would….but it depends on how you look at it.

Sheltwon, I find it hard to believe that you called downplaying Nash’s teammates as “stupid”. The fact is he’s hardly playing with a bunch of all stars this year, he’s the one who makes them so good.

Grant Hill, a great guy and a fantastic talent in his younger years, is 37 years old and one of the most brittle players in NBA history. Everything I said about him is true, you don’t know how long he will be healthy.

Jason Richardson, you actually agreed with my Fire & Ice Analogy, the guy is incredibly inconsistent.

Louis Amundson cannot shoot beyond 2 feet from the basket. Are you disputing the fact that he cannot shoot? I like the guy but he has no offense.

Robin Lopez, despite your excuses, is in fact a poor offensive player.

We disagree on Channing Frye whom I said was a bust everywhere he’s been. Even though his previous teams gave up on him, you seem to think he was somehow successful with them.

    G. Dragic is better than most people think, but he’s essentially a back up PG.

Amar’e Stoudemire, I guess I should have said more than he’s a great athlete. Yes he is an All Star and one of my favorite players in the last decade.

Anyway, the point of that rebuttal to billyk was that Steve Nash isn’t exactly playing with the Lakers this year. His list of teammates leaves a lot to be desired. More importantly, Steve Nash makes everyone around him better. I remember watching Phoenix when Nash was in his MVP years and LOL when he left the game for his usual rest, they looked as if they were lost and had no direction when he was on the bench.

Steve Nash is suffering from the same silly, petty criticism Magic received when he was with the Lakers. Believe me, both Magic and Nash are two of the greatest point guards to ever play the game, and to say they were successful because of their teammates isn’t fair or accurate.

rtbt-in regards to the 2 MVP’s nash won, I’m not trying to hate or take credit away. He was/is a great pg and like I said, I thought he should have won it the year they gave it to Dirk. Nash actually had better numbers that year and even said himself that was his best season. But guys were not gonna give him 3 in a row especaially when the first two were controversial. Here’s who I thought should have won:

2004-05 season Allen Iverson should have won. Now before you call me crazy, I’m not an Iverson fan and I wouldn’t put him top 5 in any year since then. But that was him in his prime. He had almost no help and still carried the sixers to a winning record and the playoffs. Everyone was jumping on the Nash or Shaq bandwagons hard that year, and Iverson had to settle for a all-first team spot instead.

    Stats:

    Iverson-30.7ppg…….8apg…….2.4stls…….4rpg
    Nash-15.5ppg………11.5apg….1.0stls……3rpg

In 2006, I thought Kobe should have won. He was crazy that year. 81 points…..40+ppg for the entire month of January…..Single handidly outscored the Mavericks through 3 quarters (kobe 62- dallas mavericks 61) before sitting out the 4th. If you subtract Odom, this is what he had around him-Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, and Luke Walton as starters. The bench was Vujacic, Chris Mihm, Devean George, Brian Cook, Shammond Williams. People holding the fact that they ONLY won 45 games and finished 7th in the west with that group are silly.

    stats:

    Bryant-35.4ppg…..4.5apg……5.3rpg…….1.8stls
    Nash-18.8ppg…….10.5apg….4rpg……….0.8stls

add in that Kobe was first team defense and that was one of the greatest indivdual seasons ever. And to think he finished 4th in mvp votes is laughable. I don’t expect you to change your mind, I’m just defending where I’m coming from on this argument. At the very least I think you should take back the comment that he was in a class by himself. I realize stats are not everything, But I honestly thought Iverson and Kobe were the rightful mvp’s those 2 years.

Hmmmmmmmmm, let’s see who Nash plays with.

Channing Frye who’s been a bust everywhere.
Grant Hill who’s old, brittle, and on his last legs.
    J. Richardson who’s either on fire or ice cold.
Louis Amundson who can’t shoot beyond 2 feet from the basket.
Leandro Barbosa whom I can never figure out what he’ll bring to a game
    G. Dragic, everyone says he cannot play
Robin Lopez who has no offense
Jared Dudley who’s another big time bust
    Amar’e Stoudemire, a great athlete

Although I often agree with llperez22, this is one time we disagree big time. Steve Nash was a magician those two years directing one of the greatest offensive machines in NBA history. They were essentially the same players who were going nowhere until Nash arrived on the scene. Nash deserved the MVP trophy big time, he was in a class by himself versus other point guards both seasons.

llperez22, I re-read what I wrote and you have a good point because I didn’t say what I was thinking. Steve Nash was in a class by himself in terms of the Point Guards. I’m in no way claiming guys like Kobe cannot compare with Nash, that would be flat out ridiculous.

So once again llperez22, I meant to say Steve Nash was in a class by himself versus other point guards. How’s that?

I remember talking with my brother about the incredible passes he would make that looked sooooooooooo easy on TV. Of course the mark of a great athlete is a guy who makes special plays look easy, making you think you could also do it. Of course if it were that easy, then ask yourself why he’s the only PG in the NBA who can make those kind of passes.

And here’s what I wrote at the beginning of this thread.

What’s Even More Amazing is the fact that he’s 35 years old. He’s at the point [no pun intended] in his career when most PGs are slowing down or ready to retire. In my opinion, he was the best PG on the planet those two MVP years. But after last season, I thought age was catching up with him and we would never see Steve Nash perform at an elite level again. nash is good but a product of the system anybody can get assists with good shooter on your team he hasn’t won anything and has never led his team to the finals so he’s not a winner and what did nash accomplish b4 he came to the suns? NOTHING! he is having a good season but he still cant defend and he should have never won mvp because he doesnt play any defense lebron and kobe should have won the mvp either year he won it because you should never be considered mvp if you give 0 effort on defense. he’s playing great this season but so is every point that he faces

you have to admit, that he brings out the best in the players he plays with. I will admit that it is easy for anyone to win with the kind of shooting the suns have, but I still put him ahead of CP3. CP3 is amazing, but i would still take nash over him as of right now. My opinion will change in the next couple of years. CP3 still needs to mature and he needs to actually lead his team instead of try and win it for them by himself if you know what i mean…

In actually, Nash has more talent than CP3 does. That makes Nash more successful right now, if you give CP3 that type of system and the offensive players Phoenix has, he would be a MVP shortlister easily every year.

    Nash career- 14.4pts 3.0 rebs 8.1 assist 2.7 t.o
    Marbury career 19.3 pts 3.1 rebs 7.6 assists 3.0 t.o

stop riding his nuts hes not some all-time great he’s a decent player where the system made him look better than what he is than why his team never wins in the playoffs!
