The 2010 draft features a much better base of talent with the incoming class of freshmen a much stronger group than the last year’s class. 2010 is considered by NBA scouts to be a stronger draft class than 2009 which makes for a lot of excitement for scouts and fans alike.

6-4, athletic and jet quick point guard John Wall is very similar to #1 pick of two years ago Derrick Rose. Wall will attempt to do what Rose couldn’t and lead his John Calipari coached team (Kentucky) to a national championship.
While not as polished, Wall has the same type of huge upside and has even more talent surrounding him. Wall promises to bring the 2010 draft and college basketball a lot of excitement next season.

Ed Davis returns to the National Champs with a lot of excitement surrounding his potential. He’s got great length and explosiveness and a body that continues to develop. His offensive skills have shown solid improvement at UNC , and his shot blocking ability also makes him intriguing.

Though very raw offensively, Derrick Favors is a physical specimen with his condor wingspan and excellent leaping ability and fluidity. He’s considered a likely one and done top 10 pick, and if his offensive game develops he can move into the top 3.

Lithuania’s Donatas Motiejunas
combines size and speed with excellent offensive skills as well.
Although European drafted players have not had a high success rate
since Dirk Nowitzki, Motiejunas (who’s game is not unlike Dirk’s) has a
tantilizing package of abilities in his tool shed.

Kansas’ Cole Aldrich is back for a junior season after an extremely impressive sophomore campaign in which he turned down the opportunity to be a lottery pick. Aldrich’s triple double against Dayton (13 pts, 20 reb and 10 blk) was one of the top individual performances of the NCAA tournament.

Florida State bigman Solomon Alabi of Nigeria has an excellent combination of length, agility and shooting touch. Scouts consider him a likely lottery pick for 2010 due to his upside.

With excelent outside shooting ability and a huge wingspan and athletic ability, Fresno State’s Paul George
shows a ton of upside. He still has work to do on his ball handling and
mid range game, but if he can spring board off of an excellent freshman
season, he can potentially be a top 5-10 pick.

NYC product and current West Virginia Mountaineer Devin Ebanks is a versatile wing with excellent scoring and rebounding ability. Though not overly explosive, his fluidity and skill level gives him a lot of intrigue.

Wake Forest’s freshman phenom surprised everyone when he trurned down being a first round pick to return to school for his sophomore year. Al-Farouq Aminu has a tremendous basketball body with great length and stand out agility and athletiism. His skill level shows promise but is in need of improvement. A second year at Wake should do him well.

Iowa State’s Craig Brackins may lack the upside of the players above him on this list (1987 born), but he’s the most polished offensive bigman scorer in the country. His inside/outside versatility to face the basket and knock down jumpers as well as score in the post makes scouts drool.

  1. Sylvan Landesburg
I never have hated on this website but where is Virginia’s Landesburg??
He was one of the top freshmen this year and is a legit 6’6″ SG. How is he not in the top 100??

  2. it truely is a shame that
it truely is a shame that alot of these guys are ahead of greivis vasquez..what else does he have to prove?..its gonna be funny to see how he dominates the acc this year

  3. Wall
Wall is for real – can’t wait to see how he does this year at Kentucky. As for the above questions about where guys are rated, you have to remember this isn’t a ranking of the best players in college – this is a ranking of how guys are expected to be in the NBA. Some guys are better NBA pros than college players and vice versa.

guys like Landersberg and Lance Stephenson will be NBA draft pick no matter what people think and talking first rounder. Lance will the best freshmen in the country next season becasue he brings that NYC toughness to his game as well as landerberg For Landersberg he was on a bad team so not a lot of people seen him but anybody that is 6’6 and average 18 points in the ACC is a NBA prospect

  5. Cole Aldrich Returns to Kansas
I think Cole Aldrich was smart to return for his junior year. In addition to the fact that Kansas has a legitimate shot at a national title, Aldrich has shown great progress since his very mediocre freshman season. If he opted for the draft after his freshman year, I think he would have been lost in the NBA. Now he might go somewhere in the first three choices so he’ll make more a lot more money, plus he’ll be physically and emotionally ready for NBA level competition.

If BJ Mullens had watched and understood what Aldrich was doing, he would’ve been smart to follow in his footsteps. At the very least, Mullens should have returned to Ohio State for his sophomore season. As a result of leaving early, I think BJ Mullens will be eaten alive in the NBA. If he had stayed in college, learned how to play the game, and gotten stronger, he could have become an elite player. It still might happen, but now it’s a long shot.

  6. About the Europeans (for Aran)
“Although European drafted players have not had a high success rate since Dirk Nowitzki (…)”. Yes, that’s true. Let me think: Pau Gasol, Toni Parker, Manu Ginobili, Mehmet Okur, Andrei Kirilenko, Hedo Turkouglu….

John Wall is the truth, he can be a combo guard at the next level if he wants to, I want to see him jump shot take some more strides and he will be a complete stud next year.

Lance Stephenson is the next Lenny Cook if he does not get his head together, talent wise he could be a top 20 pick but his attitude and his body language tells me he is a typical NY talent that is overhyped and not ready for the discipline of the NBA. He seems really spoiled and I dont see him going to school for more than one year. Maybe he lands at St Johns or Maryland but they will only be renting him for one season.

Ed Davis, I am not sold on him, athletically he is notches below Derrick Favors, no way he is the top 2 pick next year. I did not see much game out of him at all at NC.

I like Brackins and Monroe, these are two kids that understand the game and are well rounded, they could use an injection of nastiness but they may change as they reach the NBA level. They both have polished games that would well suit them in a NBA pick and roll offense.

Cole Alrich, overrated….can anybody say Greg Ostertag?

  8. He still has work to do on

Most of these guys are ahead of greivis vasquez. What else does he have to prove? Its gonna be funny to see how he dominates the ACC this year without any doubt.
