I was looking at your draft and had a couple of questions on why you thought the way you did. In no way is this a knock, I just wanted to know what you were thinking regarding certain selections

1- Im a GS fan so I have to ask why did you place Rivers at 7? Are you expecting the 7th to get traded or just BPA? The combo of Cury, Thompson and Jenkins seem to be good.

2- you also have Anthony Davis  teaming up with Sullinger. Thats alot of beef especially with Okafor on roster.

Why are you trying to make is as if he’s negatively calling him out?  I’m sure he’s genuinely interested in his opinion.

I think Golden State takes a shooting guard with the #7 pick, personally.  They have Thompson who can slide over and play small forward and insert a J. Lamb, Rivers, Ross type shooting guard here.

    Curry – Rivers – Thompson – Lee – Bogut

with Jenkins – Rush – Wright – Tyler – Biedrins off of the bench?  That doesn’t look too bad on paper.  Golden State also have 2 more selections in the draft.  They could take a guy like Jeff Taylor or Quincy Miller at the end of the 1st round.

I agree that I don’t think Jared Sullinger should be drafted to New Orleans after they already get Anthony Davis, but as far as Okafor is concerned… I think NO will amnesty him this offseason.  He’s past his prime and is owed too much money.  He’ll be picked up in the free agency and serve as a nice back up on a contending team.

I am sure he is, but it’s hypocritical.. No one here knows if joewolf has legitimately put a lot of time into it yet.. the draft is still a month away, for all we know he might have made it months ago..

Im not calling JoeWolf out. I am legitimately interested in what he thought since the lotto is over since I usually think what JW says makes sense.

Also, I did do my own mock but when I tried to print the mock it got all screwy and pasted the sites as you can see. I just havent had time to fix it

As a GS fan I know Jerry West thought Monta at SG was a bad mismatch and taking a Guard like Beal doesnt make sense in many mocks.

How am I getting negged anyways. The thread was for Joe Wolf and he hasnt even been here yet, tho thanks for the backing tongue out like 23

GSW traded a talented but undersized shooting guard so they could increase their backcourt size.  I doubt they go small again.  They will probably focus on a 3 or a 4.  They don’t seem to be sold on Wright or RJ.  Lee could use some help now that Udoh is gone.  also Bogut may be out early on some they could use the depth up front.

Maybe GSW take Rivers and trades for KG with Boston.

I think since Monty Williams likes length and athleticism for his front court after losing to Lakers and their bigs, he may go with Henson before he goes with Sullinger.  I think I have Davis and Perry Jones.  If Jones can play the 3 next to  davis.  You have a  lot of length to make up for the fact that  Okafor is undersized at Center even though he is prett solid on D.

Beal won’t slip to #7 even if he wanted to.  He will be the first shooting guard off of the board, possibly going as high as #3 overall to the Washington Wizards.

thompson is a 2 and will play some 3 if they go small.  i doubt gs takes rivers, just as sheltwon3 indicated.  i have them taking a 3 or a big guy.

anthony davis is a 4.  i doubt monty follows that up with another pf.  they let david west go and i think sully has some very similar characteristics to him.  i think they could go for perry jones and hope he fills the role at the 3 or go for a pg.  jarrett jack and grevies vasquez can play, but shouldn’t be starting pgs.

Taylor Condrin, I also believe the same, I’m hesitant to pick another guard like Lamb or Terence Ross. Klay is not a great defender as it is and would have a very hard time guarding threes. The only guard I would take at 7 is Beal is he slips monumentaly which I doubt happens.

The problem with Golden State is that the have the 7th pick in the draft.  I don’t think there is anyway that Michael Kidd-Gilchrist or Harrison Barnes slip to seventh overall, and taking a chance on a guy like Moe Harkless would be an extreme reach.  Like I’ve said before, I think they will go out with the 7th pick and add another shooting guard.  The draft is filled with promising 2 guards, and you really have to give Jeremy Lamb and Austin Rivers a chance at #7 based on potential alone.

Golden State could still get a valuable SF with the 30th overall pick the own, Jeff Taylor, Quincy Miller, and even Draymond Green are likely candidates.  Then with their 2nd round pick, add another PF for depth since the trade that sent Ekpe Udoh to Milwaukee.

Golden State has a chance to have a really good draft and put together a team that will contend in the West.  Only thing they have to do is make the right decisions.

I too am curious as to joewolf’s selection of Austin Rivers by GSW.

However, I said in a thread last week that Sullinger would be a great selection by NO.  His scoring and rebounding compliments Davis well, particularly because Sullinger has skills to be a great guy on p&r and p&p.

GSW is at a dilema at 7….the best SF’s will likely be gone then they have a host of SG’s who are good but there are more talented and possibly impactful players that will be on the board.  So at 7, I dont think they go with a position but best available player.

Hey man, No I don’t take this as a call out, but rather just asking some questions.  I will say that I wouldn’t consider my mock quite at a critique stage.  Right now, my mock has most of the guys in a 3 pick range of where I think they’ll go, with a few exceptions.  My top 5 is thought out and a few of my first rounders are team specific. I know it does say I updated it yesterday, but it was just moving some 2nd rounders around according to specific teams they worked out with.

I have Rivers at 7, because I think his stock will raise considerably when the combine happens this weekend.  He’s a long guy with good athletic ability and although he doesn’t have top end strength…he carries 200 lbs really easily and could develop into a strong player pretty quickly.

He may not go as high as #7, but he also could due to the fact draft day trades are not a rare occurance.  I just have him there because I feel he will end up in the top 10.

I have Sullinger in NO for kind of the same reasons, I think he’ll be in the 8-12 range, so I have him at 10 for now.  Again, I think a team in the 8-12 range will fall for a player as skilled as Sullinger, who I feel, will come in under 270 and shoot lights out in an open gym and in drills.  I’m also not sold as Dion Waiters or Damian Lillard as top 10 picks, and I feel Sullinger is a better option than both Jones at 10, so I have him there as a BPA….for now.
