He’s a good prospect and has a ton of skill but a bad head on his shoulders. He hasn’t developed as much as people would have liked but at worst he’s a serviceable center. He’s more talented than Omar Asik, the other turkish center that just came over to the bulls, but Asik has developed better than him so far. Give him a year or two and I think he could be a solid contributor.

He does not speak English very well, which is never a good sign for a player giving any sort of immediate contribution in the NBA. It makes the learning curve for a young player almost impossible. The Celtics aren’t the Warriors. They don’t just roll out a ball. It is going to be hard for Erden to fully grasp what it is the Celtics do until he better understands the language. My guess is that he will have minimal to no impact this season, and hope he gets up to speed to help in 2011-12.
