Bill Walker

Yeah coming out of college, Bill Walker had potential. It’s just that his knees were his problem and if it weren’t for that, he would’ve been a first round pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. I always felt that if he was given a chance to play, he’d show glimpses and someday exceed that vast potential he has.

I thought he’d be strictly a defensive specialist in the NBA because of his lack of shooting and ball-handling, but he can score when dribbling in straight lines and in transition because of his athleticism. Good fit for the D’Antoni system and nice surprise! Hope he keeps it up!

Maybe the Knicks wont be as barren for free agents as people thought… if Walker can prove to be a prospect for a decent NBA player, throw in Douglas, Chandler, Gallo, Sergio and JR Giddens that is a decent amount of pretty good young talent to have with a few superstars. I honestly did not like Hill and am not even a little upset that he is gone. I like Sergio more than Hill as a prospect anyways and probably would have traded them for each other straight up. The reason the Knicks are so miserable lately is because they have ZERO size. David Lee (undersized) is their only true big man, they get abused in the paint. An addition of a Marcus Camby or even a Chris Bosh would do a lot for them on defense. I would be more than happy as a knick fan if our off season consisted of adding Johnson and Camby while keeping Lee and Tmac.

Giddens will not be back thought but i feel walker will be and hopefully Eddie House sticks around as well. The Knicks are looking to have a nice bench but they need to sign their stars to start though.

I agree but its just encouraging to see that they might have more than just 2 or 3 people that can contribute under contract for next season. I am definitely not getting ahead of myself but even if walker can be a nice energy guy off the bench he can help us with the depth a little. Hopefully they keep sergio too, I think once he gets a hang of the offense a little and gets some talent around him he can be a solid point guard for us in the Jason Williams mold. Lastly I do hope the Knicks give Giddens a chance to stick around too, he was a first round pick less than two years ago and I honestly think he has the potential to crack the rotation and be another contributor. As much as i hated giving up Nate, I can say I’m pretty happy that we got two young guys with potential that can be had next year for under a million each so they can help fill out that bench a little and not affect the cap really if some stars do decide to come to New York.

As for the current state of the Knicks right now, all I have to say is how can you expect to not get blown out every night when your tallest and ONLY option (Bender looks like hes 65 out there) in the paint is the extremely undersized David Lee. So I personally believe that their current struggles lately do not really reflect the potential that some of these players actually have if they have a proper team built around them. Even though Jeffries was a terrible offensive player, he did provide us with some height (along with Hill) and grit that made it at least a little tougher to score on us than right now. The Knicks the past month have just been destroyed in the paint (not necessarily for lack of effort) and you just cannot contend in this league like that. I would really love Camby back in NYC. A guy like Bynum (I know its practically impossible for the Knicks to get him) would probably have more effect on this Knicks team than any max free agent this summer not named Lebron.

Bill Walker is a stud. I remember when he was in high school playing with OJ Mayo some people thought Walker had more pure talent. I wasn’t one of those, but I knew he had serious talent. I’m really happy to see him doing well and I think he can potentially be a very good starter in the NBA

knicksfan7 youre right its too early to tell. it seems all it takes is one game for some people to think someone is ready to be a star or play alot of minutes. everyone wants everythign to quick and most dont seem to be patient anymore. i like walker and think he could turn out to be a good 8th man but lets not get carried away on one game in which they were blown out and on a knicks team thats very very bad. im more concerned about gallo and chandler( who i still say wont be allstars). they look average on a bad team so im wondering how they would look on a good team when they are getting less shots
