NBA Comparison: Darius Washington

Aran Smith - 12/24/2007

Srengths: Quick and athletic point guard ... Tough, aggressive competitor ... Fearless driving to the basket and extremely explosive ... Excels at scoring. Very quick off the dribble. Has a burst to get a step on his man and into paint ... Excellent at forcing the issue and creating free throw opportunities (248 ft attempts as a junior) ... Good body strength allows him to absorb contact and finish, as well as making him a physical match up on the defensive end ... Really disrupts defensively due to his great reflexes and anticipation ... Solid experience with four years of college under his belt ... Can heat up quickly shooting the ball, though he's streaky ... Improving range on his shot ... An exceptional rebounder for his size due to his athleticism and fearless nature crashing the glass ... Hard worker, excellent conditioning, gets stronger as the game goes on ...

Weaknesses: Undersized at 6-foot and more of a scorer than a pure PG ... His point guard skills are not up to the level of his offense. Plays off the ball much of the time, so his PG skills are unproven ... His assist to turnover ratio is around even which is far too low for a lead guard. Lack of quality teammates can be partially blamed ... Streaky shooting the ball and has a bit of a slow, unorthodox release (shoots from his should and lacks a fluid motion) ... Still not a consistent threat from outside. Prefers taking the ball in and using his athleticism and body control to score ... Tightening up his three point shot would force opponents to play him closer and bolster his driving ability ...
