river09ParticipantI’d hate to be that guy but is there actually a chance that kahn actually had an above average draft…? He got williams at #2 (not that he had much of a choice) and while he passed on the likes of Motiejunas (which killed me) Brooks (almost made me cry) and honeycutt (dang).. he did manage to net a defensive guard with some great potential to develop (Malcolm Lee), considering how horrible defensively they were last year it can’t hurt.. oh and Targuy Ngombo (of course).. but also he grabbed a 2013 first round pick (which is almost guaranteed to be a better draft class) a future second round pick (cool) and money (yay)… and at the same time he got rid of Jonny Flynn (before houston had time to look up footage of him playing defense)… oh yeah the wolves got brad miller (the slowest man in the world) too (cough).. if he manages to bring in a scoring SG I’ll even be willing to call this offseason a success.. Anyone with me?

meisi4Participantyes. i am with you.
but lets see what kahn does do change the roster now. obviously they can´t stick with beasley, love and williams. i guess they will try to make a big move…

Prince of BballParticipantIt was nice to finally watch a draft and not have Kahn actions end up being a sideshow to it.

BBall4life88ParticipantI agree
While I really like the idea of taking the best player availible in DWilliams, there’s no way a roster can work with Williams, Beasley, Wes, Love…and I think letting Beasley go is the wrong thing to do. As a trade prospect, DWilliams has much more trade value than Beasley.
And what the Wolves did with their #20 pick was just confusing and stupid. This is another situation where Kahn tries to show everyone how smart he is by drafting guys we’ve never heard of in the hopes of getting the next Manu so he can look like a genius.
And trading Flynn for Brad Miller was just retarded. Kahn drafted Rubio and Flynn with the vision of them playing together, Kahn said himself we plan on having them both on the court together and it will be a great match. Now that Rubio has finally come over to MN we trade Flynn away for Brad Miller!!!! WTF Kahn! So what were you doing drafting them back to back?….so you could get Brad Miller in the 2011 draft…i don’t get it. This is exactly what makes Kahn such a bad GM in a nutshell.

shangrilaParticipantFirstly, they didn’t like anyone at 20 so moving back like they did and picking up extra assets in the process made sense. They went a little overboard I guess (they traded for then sold Houston back the 38, for example), but the team is young enough as it is and didn’t need a ton of extra young guys around. Considering they got Lee at 43, who was being considered for 20, is awesome.
Secondly, if you’re going to rip them for trading Flynn then, honestly, you either didn’t watch him play or know nothing about basketball. He was god awful last year and I think they were happy just to dump his contract. So, yeah, pairing him with Rubio made sense when we all thought he could play. He can’t, so they traded him. Easy.

darkman97ParticipantActually they did like someone at 20 and that was M. Brooks out of Providence. Exactly what we need a slashing/scoring SG that has size (6’5) and maturity/experience (senior college). As far as Flynn, I don’t blame Flynn as much as most. He is a run and gun type of player and Minnesota was trying to run the slowed down triangle offence. That doesn’t play to his talent. We knew he wasn’t the best defender at his sub 6ft height so why was everyone so surprised. I do feel if given the right system such as how Golden State plays he should be a pretty good player.

river09ParticipantI actually would prefer if they kept both beasley and williams… who cares if they play kinda the same positions .. on a team as bad as the wolves were last year you don’t get rid of good players.. and they’re both good players.. i don’t think they’d be as hurt as much as everyone thinks if they go small.. maybe put AR at C to spell darko after his 10 min a game.. love randolph and switch back and forth from center and pf.. beasley and williams switch almost naturally from sf and pf… The depth will help them not hurt them in my opinion… if we really do end up playing as up tempo as we want to, going small won’t hurt us as much….

TallmanNYCParticipantKahn finds a way toward another epic fail with draft of 26 year old ineligible under-sized power forward from Middle East league. Yeah, another epic Kaaaaahhhnnnnnn! moment. Sure the waterfall trade down for cash was kind of epic as well. Ka-ching with each one of them. But really, with all the guys still on the board, you have to go with a guy that clearly your team knows nothing about because FIBA has him listed as 26 and thereby (a) not someone who is likely to get better and (b) no eligible for the draft in the first place, so he doesn’t have to sign with you. If you like the guy as a player (a) you are probably an idiot and (b) you can just call him on the phone and I’m sure he will leave the Middle East league that he is playing in and join the Wolves. You don’t need a draft pick to force him to take NBA minimum which is going to be a lot more than he is making now, one can presume.
Kaaahhhhnnn, you continue to amaze.
That said, Wolves will be a lot better this year, so he is getting some stuff done. I’m not all Kaaaaahhhhhnnnn negative.
