What’s up guys long time reader, new poster. I really feel there is going to be a lot of movement both leading up to the draft and on draft night. This is due to the lack of a clear cut number one and the talent within the top ten being pretty much up in the air. Being a die hard Wolves fan and knowing quite a bit about the organization there is zero chance that Kevin Love gets traded. I do however think that Derrick Williams gets moved. Unfortunately for the Wolves playing him out of position his first couple years has really hurt his value. I think he is going to be a very good NBA player and just won’t ever become that as long as he’s not allowed to be unleashed at power forward. I read a report where an unnamed GM stated that Derrick Williams won’t be traded for a top pick because he is better than every player in this draft. That seemed a bit of a stretch to me, however I think they would have to sacrifice a bit of value as his talent is just going to waist.

What do you guys think that Derrick Williams could fetch as far as a pick or proven 2 guard is concerned? Ridnour or Barrea could be in play as well just not sure who would want either of them at 5 mill a year. Just think having both of them is wasting space.

Would the T Wolves take Andy Varejao and the 19th pick for him? The Cavs could use Derrick Williams but I am not sure that they would trade the top pick in the draft for him (even though I think it would be a pretty good trade for them).

I would like to see Derrick Williams on the Wizards. They have the backcourt with John Wall and Brad Beal. Williams could be the main option at the forward spot to go along with Nene and Okafor inside. That would be more than the Wizards could get with the 3rd pick in the draft.

So I think the T Wolves need to call the Wizards about a potential swap of the 3rd pick going to Minny for Derrick Williams.

Williams would give the Wizards a young Big Three. Then they still should have a decent pick next year to go after another big man.

Then the T Wolves could draft at least Victor Oladipo at 3. McLemore could even be there.

I think that this would be a great trade for both teams.

I can tell you the Cavs would not take Williams for Andy and 19, and for sure not the first pick

No possible way Wolves want Andy and #19. I do however think D. Will and pieces could be in play for # 1. I personally hope they don’t trade Derrick and #9 for #1 seems like too much, plus the Cavs need a small forward something DWill has failed miserably at.

BUT….Williams to the Wizards straight up for the # 3 pick would be a perfect trade. Williams is a good stretch 4 his shooting ability would clear lanes for Wall and free up space for Beal. Williams is also an under rated rebounder. He also is extremely athletic and will fit nicely at finishing oops and highlight reel passes for Wall.

The Wolves then get a shot at either McLemore or Oladipo whom I think Flip Saunders has two bulls eyes on. They then still have the 9th pick which would give them flexibility to draft a big (Len) if the lose Pek. Or another shooter such as McCollum who would be an awesome as a scorer off the bench right away getting both minutes at the 1 and the 2.

AndyV17 is spot on. Andy was putting up 14.4 and 14.1 per game before he got injured. Cavs wouldn’t Trade Andy for Derrick Williams let alone add the 19th pick.

I agree that the Cavs won’t trade Andy. Also don’t think the Cavs would have any interest in DWill. The Wizards make sense however. The Wolves could even throw in their late 1st rounder as well.

They didn’t really play him out of position. He’s just a tweener, everyone knew that. He claims to be a small forward but he’s not. He’s very talented but needs to work more on his game.

I think he’s a straight up 4 who can shoot. Maybe and inch shorter than most but has an insane vertical. At the four he could take other bigger 4’s to the hoop. Something he can’t do playing the 3.

He played fine to me, maybe not like a top 2 pick, but he showed signs that he can produce at a high level, whether it is at the 4 or 3

He played fine yes when Love got hurt and he was allowed to played power forward. The problem is all this nonsense of him attempting to play small forward has damaged his game. He was so bad at small forward that the Wolves went out and signed Josh Howard, Addelman refused to play him at the three. He is a stretch four and a good one when allowed to be.
