jjonzParticipantThe 80’s had the best decade of wings (in my Bill Walton voice) Ever in the History of the NBA. A.English/L.Bird/B.King/J.Worthy/M.Aguire/ Dr.J/TCummings ( I met him @ Church when i was younger) But the most prolific of the bunch drafted 3rd overall in 83 draft, My favorite The Human Highlight film. His # are crazy think he had 30/6/3asst his 2nd year got to line 9x a game. For his career got to the line 6 or 7x a game. @ age 37 averaged 18 ppg.
In the 90’s it was more all around SF play with Pip/G.Hill. Although i thought Big Dog would put up mad# like 25-30ppg.
The trend turned with in the 2000’s with TMac emerging as a Top 3 player when he was healthy.
Now in no successive order here are the featured wings ready to dominate with their ppg
Durant
Melo
R.Gay
DGranger
Beasly
Bron
This not a new trend actually started with E.Baylor 2nd year # 38&18 rebs.
Just excited to be able to watch these guy’s step up in their prime.

4th dimensionWing players never left, even in the 90s. You said you can’t consider Pippen and Hill wings because they are more all around players yet you consider Lebron a wing? What are they, thighs?

jjonzParticipantThey were all around wings. I know the history of this game i’m friends with people who played with G.Mikan & they break down the history of the ball going into the hoop for me ok so i made a mistake on how i wanted to communicate. So let me proceed. AllAround Wings J.Havliceck/S.Pip/G.Hill Players that fit that type of mode initiate offense from SF position instead of PG actually R.Barry started this whole PointForward coversation in the late 70’s/PPressley move it forward with DNelson in the 80’s for the Bucks team. Pippen brought it out in the 90’s & DCollins used GHill in the same position. Now High Scoring wings should have been topic of my post. I probally missed a few guys, i don’t know what position T.Chambers played but he was one of my fav players also. i think he was 6’10 but he could run floor & shoot.

jjonzParticipantEvery player mentioned in the original post from from 80’s had a season of 25ppg or more except for JWorthy, but he got his $$ on in the playoffs with the best team of the 80’s. He averaged 21ppg in the playoffs. So every night these SF would have to defend somebody that was a threat to score.

jjonzParticipanthow is that High Scoring SF’s. Still look @ the 90’s SG and Big Men were scoring Jordan/DRob/Hakeem/Malone/Barkley . I don’t think combo guards are going to reign in the future 3-7 years. SF’s KD/Melo/Bron/Beasly/ Rudy Gay @ 20-22 ppg. I see maybe 3 combo or SG that can crack 25+ ppg that are as young as the aforementioned SF’s.& they are E.Gordon, M.Ellis, & DWade/Maybe Kobe if his Right Knee holds up.
