ilike.panochasParticipantI always looked at him as a young Latrell Sprewell, but not as fast as Spree, but their game is pretty close.

ilike.panochasParticipantCollege or current Pro? Well college SG I don’t see anyone being great right now, Barton has a chance to be an All-Star level SG, as far as the next great Pro SG, Tyreke Evans is a decent jumpshot away from being great, and perhaps a bit of improvement on defense.

omphalosParticipantI wrote a little piece about the lack of great 2-guards in the next generation a while back, maybe it’s just that players are getting taller, but there just aren’t that many 6’6" studs, most are 6’7", 6’8" SFs. No pressure to give it a read;

ilike.panochasParticipantWell we are now in an Era where PG’s rule the league. But Kobe and Wade is still around and we just lost a great one with Brandon Roy. Yea there is lacking of young potential great SG. Tyreke is the only one I can see becoming great. Perhaps Eric Gordon can become great, but I doubt it. Monta Ellis is still 25 years old so I consider him somewhat new generation but he may never receive enough attention to be considered great.

omphalosParticipantI think this is strange in that great SFs and PGs seem to be available in abundance this generation;
SFs;
Melo, Lebron, Durant, Gay (potentially) and non-pros in Harrison Barnes, Michael Gilchrist.
PGs:
Paul, Rondo, Williams, Rose, Westbrook, Wall, Curry and potentially Irving, Selby, Brandon Knight.
These two positions are very strong at the moment, whereas SG, and C are taking the most hits due to injury among other things. The loss of Roy was devastating.

hiphopismylifeParticipantTo answer your question. It’s hard to have a comparison for Barton. He is in the Brandon Roy/Evan Turner/Tyreke Evans kind of mold as far as being a 2-guard who can play some point and really handle the ball but hes unique in his own way. Hes got some showtime to him and is really flashy at times He is also a really good rebounder like those guys but where he is lacking is with strength right now. If hes patient at Memphis he could be a big time star in college.

omphalosParticipantOkay, let me pose a question to you, do any of those Cs have a chance of winning the scoring title like they did in the past? The days of dominant offensive Cs are gone and the position is much more defensively oriented these days.
Tell me, of those you listed how many would stand among the all-time greats at C; Dwight Howard is probably the only one at this stage in my opinion. Yet the PGs and SFs of this era will definitely be in the discussion of all time greats for their positions.
