CcdrakeParticipantWhat is a good and reasonable comparison for him. On this site I’ve heard people say Kobe, Clyde Drexler, tmac, Vince carter, and Scottie pippen which is the best one?

JR RyderParticipantDominique Wilkins. Both athletes built similarly, and both likes to explode off two feet.

SkalAndJamalParticipantThat’s actually a pretty good one. Guys like Pippen, T-Mac, Kobe, and PG13, can really drop a dime and wiggins is kinda more Melo than those guys in the passing department lol.

OhCanada-ParticipantWiggins is an extraordinarily unique athlete. He has a a perimeter based game yet also gets about one dunk per game which is amazing for a guard let alone a rookie. He is a wing with the length of a big man and he is a top 10 athlete in the league. Its hard to make a comparison for a guy like him because his unique is so rare and he is still so early in the stages of his development skill waise and body wise.
Some names that come to mind would be T-Mac, or Paul George but even those are not accurate. Wiggins really is special and I can’t wait to watch him develop.

Miko4rm206ParticipantIts still to early to say he has great tools offensively but hasnt put them together yet. I remember hearing 1 nba analyst say he should model his game after James Hardin with all the differnt moves he has getting to the basket, EuroSteps, Step Throughs, ball handling that would be very Scary to have James Harden versatillity with Wiggins physical abilities would definatly be top notch. But to keep it reasonable and in perspective if he could model his game after Rudy Gay just for this year he will be great as well. Between 18-22 pts a game 5-7 rebs is what i expect from a "improved" Sophmore Andrew Wiggins. He could very well post borderline allstar numbers if not this season for sure next season.

Here’s that article you’re talking about.
I liked what Thorpe said on here. Learning how to use the ball as a prop to get where you want to get and that’s what Wiggins needs to learn since the ball is actually slowing him down. If he can show to fool you and then blow-by you, he’ll be incredible.

high floorParticipantMostly because the player he is today is very unlikely the player he will be in 4-6 years.
If I had to pick one that best comps his skill-set and upside, I am picking Paul George. Wiggins has the versatility to thrive in the halfcourt (surprisingly showed a developing post game) and in transition. Plus he has all-defensive team potential similar to PG-13.
I can’t compare him to Kobe yet because Wiggins doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who will step on your throat to get a bucket or stop

immortalone23ParticipantI think since he doesn’t show emotion, people perceive he can’t dominate. We’ve seen him dominate before:West Virginia in college, or the time someone wrote an offensive article about his family, he went out and shut people up. He’s got an old-school games that’s why it’s hard to pinpoint how he’ll turn out. He has top 5 player in the league potential. Let’s wait till after his third or fourth season to really compare him.

ZachAttackParticipantI compare him to Andrew Wiggins… He’s a little different from everybody and pretty unique. I think that he will be a superstar that is like said, different from everyone else. Overall, you can’t really compare him to just one person

SnowtaParticipantI think so. I don’t think he’s necessarily a terrible passer right now he just doesn’t have good vision on the court. As his ballhandling gets better he will draw even more attention when he attacks, which will open up easy passing opportunities. Also, Flip has said that they watch a ton of film with Wiggins to show him what he needs to look for in different situations. He has a long way to go, but I think in his prime he could avg 4-5 asts.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI thought in terms of rookie stats he would be comparable to Richard Dumas. Wiggins scored a couple more points per game as a rookie.
I will stick with the Dr. J comparison. Wiggins can be one of the top guys in the league but maybe not THE guy. Mostly a scorer, slasher, and dunker who can also give you the steals and blocks. Jordan without the killer instinct, Pippen without the playmaking skills and intangibles, Kobe/T Mac with slightly less pure scoring and deep range in his arsenal.
NBA Dr. J gave us one title, one MVP award, some deep runs, and some incredible plays. I can see Wiggins doing that. Not MJ territory but somewhere above Clyde Drexler.

ropeParticipantReally, Erving started out as more of a hybrid SF / PF, rebounding like crazy and making all his money in the paint. He never really developed much as a shooter – to the point that it was not unusual to call the "next big thing" Dr J with a jumpshot.
Erving was also a bit of an extravert’. He knew he was the best player on the court and carried himself like it. He quietly talked trash and acted like the whole point of the game was to dunk on you.
As far as his ability to elevate, he is like Dominique. No one else looked that same when they dunked as he did. Wiggins has that same look. He is a lot younger than the Wilkins, most remember, but the ability to use their leaping ability effectively in a game is unique.
While Wiggins is a much better player, I might also say he has some Marques Johnson in him. Johnson wasn’t anywhere near the scorer that Wiggins will be, but he was a similar dynamic athlete with a more reserved demeanor. I loved the Bucks teams anchored by Sidney Moncrief and him.

chall23ParticipantA really really really rich mans Corey Brewer. That’s who I said his basement was going into his rookie year. They actually play kind of similar games and were similar Athletes. Wiggins will be a really good player for a long time. Brewer obviously didn’t live up to his potential but he also had a lot of similar traits Wiggins has.

SnowtaParticipantEven with including "really really really rich mans" this is disrespectful to Wiggins. Having watched more Brewer than I would have ever wished I can honestly say this comparison is insulting to Wiggins. Brewers a good athlete, high energy guy that plays out of control. Wiggins is an elite athlete that is miles ahead of Brewer offensively and has way more potential on defense than Brewer. Brew is a little overrated on D to be honest. Besides somewhat similar body types (although Wiggins is much stronger than Brewer was as a rookie) I see absolutely no similarities.

Rip255I’m buying the "Better Man’s Rudy Gay" comparison the most.
He’s not like Dr J at all. He was all one footed jumps, clawing the ball, hanging in the air and waiting for his opponent to go down, and attacking the rim relentlessly.
And he doesn’t have the playmaking ability or T-Mac or Pippen, despite similar athleticism and size.

Still waiting for my famous Jimmer Fredette comparison as a cross between DaJuan Wagner and Steve Kerr to pan out. But, he signed with the Spurs, so there is still a chance!

RioRepParticipantThe guy is nineteen years old. Noone has the smallest cue of what he can become. It’ll depend upon how much and what he desires to accomplish. The key is the jump shot. The rest, only the future can say. If he wants he can be a great player, if he doesn’t, it’s all right. He’ll still be rich
