Who's Better? Rose or Westbrook
Derrick "I bite off the heads of gummy bears and spit them out crying" Rose is an MVP type of point guard that can take over in the late stages of the game...If he had an inch more in the height department he'd be Dwayne Wade 2.0 with better passing ability ...Westbrook is very explosive and great on the defensive end , he's getting better at breaking people down and taking over in spurts...but he's not better than Rose right now and if both guys keep progressing at that rate, Rose will still be better than Westbrook by a close margin....
And btw Scarecrow thank you for your long list of reasons why you selected Rose thats just what we want with this thread, now someone can send you a response to your reasoning and say why they disagree with you and start a big fricking arguement GOD DANMIT! JUST VOTES PLEASE!

I'm a memphis tiger fan and have been following and routing for okc come playoff time(bc my knicks were no where around) so its tough to pick bc I like both..but I think rose is better now and will be in thr future
But I also think westbrook will be a gem as well
Westbrook is a good player an will have a really good career.....but he is still learning the point guard position when u can say D.Rose was born to play the position. He still lacks a solid jumpshot, also watching some Thunder games he was trying to be the man at the end of games taking the ball out of the franchise players hands. He is a combo guard at best at this point. With that said he is a sick athelete, an absolute beast on defense and i think playing behind Billups and Rose on the olympic team will help him get a feel for what a point guard needs 2 do to be successful in the league. Hands down Derrick Rose is better, but Westbrook is a stud!!!!!
everybody who's saying that russel westbrook is a worse shooter please give a reason why you think that. through their first two years they have the same %(westbrook-249, rose-242), and during these USA games westbrook was much better (43-28) and also, i think westbrook has better form
so next time at least use something right when arguing
It depends on the situation. If I need a #2 or #1 guy who is to be relied upon heavily on scoring than I take Rose. But if I am a team with pieces there and I need a point who will facilitate, play defense, and run the break I'm taking Westbrook. It's kind of like the Rose vs Rondo argument. Rondo is a monster in Boston but if he were on Chicago where he has no perimeter shooters and he has to be a scoring threat, Rondo wouldn't be half the player Rose is in Chi-town. This is like arguing Frank Gore vs Steven Jackson.
Well I wonder what Coach K thinks about this argument because Westbrook certainly had a better tournament then Rose. In the head to head stat comparisons

It's interesting to see the Westbrook was able to put up better numbers, more points, and rebounds, in less minutes then Rose.
EVeryone knows I've been saying Westbrook only thing rose has shown to be better at in the regular season is scoring. Westbrook plays wayyyyyyyy better defense. Better rebounder. Better assists. Tougher more aggressive. What more you want. Also he's close to rose scoring wise while being a second option. I don't wanna hear the excuse of "if he had this teammate or that" he doesn't have this or that teammate so stop with the ifs and use the facts. Y'all use facts for other debates so stick to facts for this one!!!!
And look at it this way, what would Rose's numbers look like on OKC. I think they would look similar to Westbrooks, but only less rebounds, but Rose seems like he would be taking shots away from Durant and ruin team chemistry that way. Westbrook on the Bulls would no doubt get around 20 points per game because he averaged 17 on a team with Durant...

I'm very curious as to what everyone critera is when decideung if one player is better then another
it should be offense. Defense. Rebounding. And passing when dealing with a point guard. When it's close you go with specifics. Westbrook wins because the gap
between both of there defense is alot wider then the gap between both of there offense
If you take into account Westbrook has durant which gives him moreopen looks on offense then you also have to take into account rose gets as many looks as he want and gets to shoot alot more
bosh gets more looks then gasol yet gasol is ranked head of h even though he's a second option because he's better overall

stanford hoops how can u possibly say westbrook is a better passer forget the avg it helps when you have the leading scorer in the NBA no not all of his assist come from durant but there because of durant if u get what im saying durant draws so much attention that it frees up everyone on the thunder and he only avg 2 more assists a game and all that ohh rose takes more shots he also shoots a way way better FG % then a guy who takes a lot more open looks and forget the oylmpics during what really matters the nba regular season and playoffs thus far rose has outplayed westbrook and durant my point being rose is a number 1 option and franchise guy and westbrook is a number 2 or three depending on the team and forget stats this is something we know thats like saying deng is better then carmelo because he avgs more rebs, and is a better defender

When I compare players I look at every thing not just offense. Rose defense is a good step below average. Westbrook is a very good deegender. Everything else can either be argued or one player has a little lead. The defense outs Westbrook over the top for me because it's not even close. You can argue all day about almost anything else. This is one thing that used to put Kobe over tmac and Vince. Defense
when Tmac was healthy before all the injuries like 2002 to 06 Mcgrady was IMO a way better player then kobe bryant scorer playmaker rebounder and defender kobe just became an elite defender in like 2008
and westbrook fans cant say that because of the percentages he shoots poor from the three and and feild and forget roses avg for the season look at his avgs from jan on i think he avg almost 25ppg and almost 7 assists and the bulls won 7 in a row against some of the top teams in the west and dominating the thunder westbrook would not be able to do that if the rolls were reversed its fact he just isnt that good of an offensive player yeah his drives to the hoop are cute but thats about it and an occasional jump shot from here and there for people to say the gap between the 2 in scoring is close are insane roses basketball IQ is way higher then westbrooks also and thats how i know rose is and will be the better player and will have more success then he already does now
First. You have no idea What Westbrook would do if the roles were reversed and you have to take in account a whole season not just half. Healthy or hurt. If you are playing then it counts. Westbrook doesn't shoot well and shoots worst then rose but rose is a below average shooter so it's not like there's a great big difference there

I notice you didn't mention how bad rose is on defense compared to Westbrook. Defense is as important as offense in case you forgot
rose avg 4 more ppg then westbrook and almost 49% from the field opposed to 41% and its pretty obvious westbrook is a better defender i will never dispute that thats why its pointless to mention it and as far as basketball IQ the plays he makes during the games shot selection and variety also the we he runs his team and controls the pace of the game, westbrook is always out of control and durant is the clear leader and floor general on the team westbrook just brings the ball up.

You can't really be serious with that statement... Rose's mid-range game is A LOT better than Westbrook's and you know it. Westbrook shot less than 40% as a rookie. Shot less than 42% as a soph. Rose on the other hand shot over 47% as a rookie and over 48% as a soph...
Rose is much better on the offensive end. He plays more under control and with much better pace. Westbrook plays at one speed, is out of control and doesn't make good decisions. You can't just go off of FIBA (different style of game) and ignore what Rose did last season.
Westbrook is light years ahead of Rose at the defensive end, but that's the only edge he has in my opinion.
Alot of meaningless bickering over Rose and Westbrook, people just restating the facts they stated. Just votes please no reasoning.
Pick Rose or Westbrook and we will settle this debate once and for all. Dont tell me, but people dont know Westbrook is really good because he doesnt get the same exposure as Rose, THATS BULL&$#%#&@!! Evertyone knows Westbrook averages more double-doubles.
