So with the nba season halfway through its alot more clear who is performing up to expectations and who isn’t. With that being said there have been multiple post about who gets on Rios Olympic team this summer but the real question is who gets cut?? Of the 30 canidates I’ve classified 3 tiers. The first tier is the locks players like Steph Curry, Lebron, and Durant obviously headline this group and i look for them to be featured stars on the final roster. The 3rd tier is players who likely get cut and just don’t have enough for this 12 man roster like Conley, Beal, Barnes, Hayward, Gay, Faried, Jordan or Derozan. The 2nd tier is the snubs, players who under normal circumstances would make any basketball team they try out for but due to the limited roster spots will ultimately get snubbed on decision day. These are the players everyone seems to be inconclusive on. Personally I think Draymond Green is proving his overall versatility over forwards like Blake or Melo. Chris Paul is also still superior player and leader than Wall or Irving and is deserving of the back up lead guard spot. My first 5 snubs are Melo, Griffin, Drummond, Butler, Wall who are your first 5 snubs?

I would start Curry, James, Leonard, Durant, Davis
Bench: Paul, Butler, George, Cousins, Drummond, Westbrook, Green

This team has everything except enough playing time for all of them

I would start Curry, Butler, Durant, Green, Davis.

Bench would be Westbrook, Wall, Thompson, Harden, George, Leonard and Drummond.

I would follow the GS model of spacing the floor and playing elite defense. I think the USA can put out several different teams and still be competitive.

I will base this off of a platoon system even tho for the sake of making lineups..

My starters would be Curry, Thompson, Durant, Lebron and Draymond

I would try to keep the trio together wether they start or come off the bench but their chemistry is just too good to not have them playing together. Add in Lebron who would love to create and play in the flow with those guys and is unselfish could even serve as your main facilitor but play similar to how the warriors play where floor spacing and ball movement.. Not to mention Durant as well and you have amazing floor spacing, high charcacter guys who can all play team defense. If going up against Spain and you dont like Draymond as your Center then swap out AD for Green or Durant

Bench Mob would be Westbrook, Butler, Leonard, Davis, Drummond

Imagine this squad coming in off the bench when your starters are tired or going up against their bench.. The defense would suffocate teams and these guys in transition (the whole team USA for that matter) But these guys would put so much pressure on opposing teams with having top 3 if not the top player for each position defensively also not giving much up offensively.

My last two would be Paul George and Blake Griffin  (another big body to bang)

Chris Paul and Melo could be those last two as well just out of respect for what they have done, But the team is so well balanced with high character guys that you dont necessarily need them.

Plus this whole team minus Lebron will all be in their prime when 2020 rolls around so you dont need any young guys on the team to groom.

Harden and Boogie are both phenomenal talents and deserve to make the team but this teams ability to play both sides of the ball and play as a team and not Individuals is what cuts these guys

     I would start Curry-Klay-Durant-Lebron-Davis

    Second unit would be Paul-Butler-Leonard-Griffin-Drummond

    Extra players: Westbrook-D.Green

Depending of the match you chose between Paul and Westbrook.

Klay is good in the first unit because of the chemistry with Curry and you need players that can produce without the ball, just to stretch the floor.

Lol the fact that all of you left Melo off your roster has to be a joke. His international game speaks for itself. If he wants to play he’s on the team.

Melo will probably get in and he has been a great intl player in the past but his scoring skills are redundant with Durant, Lebron and george to name a few. Players like Draymond or Drummond will bring much more needed defense and rebounding versus just scoring.
