As many on this forum know, I’m an avid Bucks fan, and I’ve been incredibly disappointed with the development of this team, and IMO a lot of these problems have stemmed from bad coaching.

I really wanted Fizdale for the Bucks next year, thinking he’d be the guy to make Giannis the happiest, but he’s now heading to New York.

I’ve also heard that the Bucks crazy ownership dynamic, where it seems like authority in the organization swaps hands every five or so years between Wes Edens and Marc Lasry. According to Brian Windhorst, this unique dynamic within the Bucks organization has made the team an overrated coaching destination, despite a generational talent in Antetokounmpo and good pieces around him (Middleton, Thon, Jabari).

Forum: who do you think should be the next coach for the Bucks?

My sources are telling me Rick Pitino is gaining traction within the Bucks organization.

The Spurs trio of Messina, Udoka & Borrego has garnered a lot of attention. I think Messina has interviews scheduled with Bucks & Hornets. But I would love to see Stackhouse or Cassell get a shot at coaching. Monty Williams and Mark Jackson both deserve another chance.

The way things are going we might see Stackhouse coaching the Raptors pretty soon which I hate to say because I think Casey has done a great job. Its just after so long you can only say the same thing to the same group of guys so many times before it gets repetitive and becomes muted. Team obviously does not respond to Casey the way they should.

I blame Masai Ujiri. He’s dedication to Lowry and DeRozen is understandable but he has drafted terribly. Bruno and Bebe. Give me a break. The raptors are one draft pick hitting away from being a legit legit contendor.

He also drafted Delon Wright and Jakob Poetl and Pascal Siakam + brought Van Vleet to camp and kept him around as the 15th man last year, look what that bench has turned into now. OG Anunoby is his pick too. No GM is perfect at drafting, but he’s been good at it.

Raptors didn’t draft Bebe. Hawks did

The Raptors offense is so predictable. If Casey is retained he should hire someone to run the offense

They did that this year. The whole culture reset.

I think Mike Budenholzer is their man.

Brad Stevens has emerged as 1 of the league’s premier coaches. His top assistant Jay Larranaga will be a target.

Budenholzer is the best coach available. And he’s a good fit as the Bucks need not just a coach, but a system. Right now they seem like less than the sum of their parts.

What’s Clifford doing? He had that Hornets team well drilled and playing hard when they were fit. He did a really good job with a limited roster. It was always going to end the way it did. I think he’s a very good coach and may suit the Bucks if his health is ok and he’s up to it.

I say go the Brad STevens route and go after Jay Wright. Has proved to be one of the best college coaches the last 5 years. Develops NBA talent yearly since the Lowry, Foye days. Runs a pro style offense. Not sure if he even wants to go to the NBA but I’d like to see them actually entertain the idea. Oh and somehow draft Bridges with him, he is exactly what they need alongside Giannis (besides a better than GLeague quality center like Henson)

If not Wright, I like Budenholzer, not a flashy name but has success as an assistant and with ATL. Not his fault they gutted the roster and made that an unwinnable situation for any coach.

Becky Hammond getting an interview, good for her, but please no. Let some other team take on that experiment.

She is a good young coach  who is putting in the work and paying her dues.  She is deserving of getting some looks.

She won’t get the job, but with at least one of Messina, Borrego and Udoka likely moving on to a head coach position, she will be right there next to Pop on the front row of the bench next year. Makes me proud as a Spurs fan. And eventually she is going to get a shot, I think, though it might be several years away.

Does Mike Budenholzer want out of the Hawks as I’d think, they’ d want him to be a key part of their rebuild. There would be much more likely older coaches who may want to get out of a rebuilding process than Mike I’d think.

His contract with them is already terminated.

They already mutually parted ways.  Atlanta is already interviewing guys. They are looking for a cheap first year head coach that has been a hot assistant to bring them through their rebuilding years they have said.
