tiberiusParticipantWho would you build your franchise around if the rest of the team were scrubs and why? Wilt Chamberlain? Bill Russell? Or Kareem Abdul Jabbar?
And upon choosing, you are allowed to select a point guard to pair them with who would you pick out of: John Stohkton, Steve Nash or Jason Kidd?
Remember that the guys you pick start off as themselves as rookies, not the bicentinarian Nash and Kidd of today. Same applies to the big men.
Who would you pick and why? 🙂

HaleParticipantI was going to say LeBron because he’s so versatile and can do so many different things, but if you’re already giving me a great PG I might as well take a big. I’ll take Kareem and of those PG’s I’ll take Kidd I guess. This is kind’ve a weird scenario so this probably isn’t the best answer.

Memphis MadnessParticipantStockton and Kareem.
Kareem is the best all-around big man ever, combining scoring, defense, and winning. And the unstoppable hook shot. Not as charismatic as other legendary bigs, but he really went to work. I think Stockton has sort of the same personality and would give this team a great pick and roll threat. I think that a prime Stockton to a prime Kareem would be even better than Stockton to Malone.
John Stockton would give them the outside shooting threat to go along with Kareem’s post skills. Both guys are great passers too. Stock could also play some tough defense so the team would be anchored by a great defensive ace inside and another one on the perimeter.
Kareem is one of the best primary scoring options ever and I think Stockton is a pretty good second or third option. They would be a great half court duo that could also get out and run.
Provided you surround these two with some shooters, another scorer at the wing, and a complementary power forward who can score, rebound, and hit mid-range jumpers. A scoring combo guard off the bench would help too. If I could get a solid scorer at the 2 then I would go with a Bruce Bowen type at the 3 who could defend wings and hit corner 3’s. But, from a stand point of having a center and a point guard, Kareem and Stockton would give you pretty much everything you need out of those two positions. The league’s all-time leading scorer (and he used to be the leading shot blocker ever too), to go with the league’s all-time assists and steals champ. Not a bad combo.

HadzialijagicParticipantHakeem Olajuwon and Steve Nash. Nash wouldnt even need to play defense next to Hakeem.

HitsterParticipantI’d be tempted to take Russell as you’d probably get the greatest defensive big ever and as PG I’ll take the Kidd as he was a triple double threat in his prime

monkey23ParticipantMagic Johnson and Hakeem Olajuwon. Both are excellent passers and team players. Plus, it doesn’t help that they were both the best (arguable with Hakeem) at their respective positions.

Raef LaFrentzParticipantHonestly, all of the selections you guys have made so far would be great. You really can’t go wrong here if you get to take an all-time great PG along with a dominant big.
That said, wouldn’t it be the most fun to watch Magic with Shaq Diesel?
Interesting idea to consider!

HOops1562ParticipantI’d choose Hakeem as my Center … best all around big man Scoring , Defense , can hit a free throw and MJ chose him so ill take him
If I had to pick a center [for an all-time best team], I would take Olajuwon. That leaves out Shaq, Patrick Ewing. It leaves out Wilt Chamberlain. It leaves out a lot of people. And the reason I would take Olajuwon is very simple: he is so versatile because of what he can give you from that position. It’s not just his scoring, not just his rebounding or not just his blocked shots. People don’t realize he was in the top seven in steals. He always made great decisions on the court. For all facets of the game, I have to give it to him.

- And my second player would be Magic Johnson … best Point Guard of all time his size and his passing ability would be a terror to guard + Hakeem and it’s almost unstoppable
