    1. Steve Francis – I consider him to be the most athletic point guard of all-time. And he also seemed like he had the talent to do whatever he wanted to do on the basketball court. An extremely skilled unguardible freakish athlete who had a high level of creativity that made him one of the most exciting and entertaining players of all-time

    2. Stephon Marbury – An elite level point guard who can score at an extremely high level and create offensive opportunities for others at a extremely high level. Consistently averaged 20 points per game and 9 assist per game through out his career. Was considered by many to arguebly be the best point guard in the league when he was playing at his best when he was younger. Would dominate other point guards with his physicality, toughness, swagger and tremendous scoring instincts

    3. Baron Davis – I consider him to be the most talented and gifted point guard of all-time. He had the whole package. With the overall talent to do whatever he wanted to do on the basketball court. Could completely takeover a game with his passing abilty, scoring instincs, and unbelievible feel for how to play the game of basketball. Tremedous ball handler who could get to where ever he wanted to get to on the basketball court. Which allowed him to be an dynamic offensive player. Because he combined great ball handling skills with great passing instincts, great scoring skills, and tremendous finishing ability. A super strong and extremely athletic point guard who could overwhelm other point guards with his great physical tools. Was one of the most exciting and entertaining players to watch play back in the day when he was younger

So who do you prefer and who do you think was the better player?

Also all 3 of these players when they were younger would dominate every and all of the point guards in the league right now except a healthy derrick rose. Who I think posessed the same skill level, physical abilities, and overall talent level that these three guys posessed

All three of them were elite athletes and great to watch. But the one thing all three were missing was a good basketball iq. They relied to much on their athleticism which is why francis was the never the same after his knee injury. Baron was able to come back for a little bit and defeat the number 1 seed in dallas. Which was amazing to watch the btw. But he got lazy once he went to the clippers. Marbury always wanted his way and one of the reasons KG never got to do anything for the t-wolves. The two of them could have been really special in minn

You’re right about most of that except for the fact that Marbury did not rely on athleticism at all and was a very crafty and instinctive player. Marbury had great court vision, a wicked handle and was a great player from the moment he entered the league til the time he went to Boston.

People who say that Marbury was overhyped I don’t really understand the dude averaged 16 and 8 as a rookie after his freshman year and left the league after 13 years with averages of 19.3 ppg and 7.6 apg which are really good numbers for a 4th overall pick.

agreed, I always have to step in when people say Marbury was overhyped. Especially when speaking of his PG skills. His two biggest problems were, he didnt put team first and he played in the same conference with Allen Iverson. Marbury was the best out of those 3.

healthy baron davis was the best of those. he took teams past the first round of the playoffs as the leader of the team. marbury was good but over hyped. francis was good but inconsistent shooter and couldn’t get far. shame on you for even saying these players would dominate any pg in the league now. ignorant.

    1. Francis, His playing style didn’t really translate to wins.
    2. Marbury, He couldn’t get along well with others.
    3. Davis, He was a below average shooter for his career.

In this, the age of the PG, I can’t say that I’d agree that “all 3 of these players when they were younger would dominate every and all of the point guards in the league right now except a healthy derrick rose”.

Well I would say that Stephon Marbury was easily the best and most dominant out of the 3. Marbury was always much more of a pure PG then Davis and Francis, while also being the better shooter and overall scorer. Francis was known mainly for his scoring ability and his assists would come mainly from his relentless attacks to the hoop. A good comparison to Francis nowadays is Wade and Westbrook. Baron Davis was a physical specimen for a PG when he came into the league, he was built so freakin strong and was so fast and explosive. He was very similar to how Rose is except Rose is better. Marbury tho had it all, and his game came off more effortless then the others. He was also very clutch and it should be noted that Marbury is the only one out of the 3 that is still playing professionally and winning.

Marbury is still is good shape and his game is still effective enough to be coming off the bench for a contender but why be a bench player in America when you can be a RockStar in China?

And I think you overrated all 3 of these players, as none of these guys are even close to Chris Paul.

Just based on there tremendous talent, elite skill level, and great physical tools. The younger versions of those three would outplay alot of the point guards in the league today in my opinion. There’s no point guard in the league today that would be able to stop or guard them. It would be a massacre

I think I would take Baron Davis. I disagree with Steve Francis being the most athletic PG of all time. He may have been but Westbrook and Rose are at least in the conversation.

Anyway, baron Davis was a monster in Charlotte and I think he was the best prototypical PG of the bunch. If he could have stayed healthy and in shape, I think we would all have a different opinion of him.

it wasn’t just gs warriors but in charlotte he put a spanking on the magic in the playoffs after the leading scorer in the league at the time tmac trash talked the hornets. francis couldn’t go anywhere when he had yao and marbury was all flash an no win.

I honestly liked Francis more than the other 2, and I do believe had he worked on his game and not had been lazy, he would have probably been the best out of the 3….

But with that being said Marbury was the best out of the 3.

Steph was easily the best out of the group. I won’t repeat what has already been said but I will say this; Steph’s downfall was not his ability to play this game…his downfall was his inability to get men to follow him. And as a PG that is crucial. He was a tough nut to crack in terms of getting along with others and that is why he did not have the success he should have had. He was not over-hyped. In fact Steph was ahead of his time if you look at the landscape of scoring points right now.

He couldn’t be kept out of the paint. He could shoot the jump shot…he got 8 assists a night….He just was considered a jerk by most that knew him.

    Sad.

Baron Davis was lazy and had horrible shot selection. You never knew if he’d show up to training camp 30 pounds over weight. And the horrific number of 3 point attempts (without much success) was crazy.

Steve Francis (and Cuttino Mobley) over dribbled the ball in the era of clearouts gone wild. He couldn’t run a team and was more of a SG than a PG. Great talent no doubt but I prefer Steph to those other 2.

I guess it does boil down to preferences at the end of the day..
