Seamo15ParticipantWith all the big name signings well and truly done ( Pekovic still on the board) and the chaotic movements slowed down to snail pace, who are you hoping gets signed that is a FA currently? There seems to be some really valuable role players out there ( Ivan Johnson, Pietrus, Telfair) a few young guys who fell victim due to being unable to crack rotation ( Nolan Smith, Luke Babbit, Cole Aldrich) and a few vets who might just be at the end of the playing years ( Richard Hamilton, sigh T-Mac, Stackhouse). Aside those kinda guys, there’s the headcase guys who frustrate year to year with off court nonsense.
Terrence Williams, for me is one guy I will never really give up on, despite the red flags that pop up every season on and off the court. The man ( not like he really behaves as such sometimes) has all the tools, all of them, except the mental to be a really decent player.
Sean Williams, another chance pick by the Nets as it would be, is another guy who just didn’t eventuate despite the ability he had. Mid way through his rookie year he was considered one of the top of his draft class. Then it all fell apart and he hasn’t picked it up since.
Hakim Warrick, the defensive liability sure is a big reason he might not get signed, but dang he can throw down dunks and play pretty solid offense when given the minutes.
They’re my three, who’ve you got?0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/13/2013 - 8:47pm #833408
phila9012ParticipantI am required to say scottie reynolds because he was my favorite college player. I just really have been rooting for him. Then Kevin Murphy, I liked him in college and I thought he would have an NBA career but it looks like he wont. They really arent free agents, just guys who arent in the NBA

Anton123ParticipantI still want James Johnson to be good. I can’t really find a reason why he should be, he doesn’t really do anything well, but c’mon he’s a huge athletic versatile guy, he should be able to figure something out.

Brew Meister SmithParticipantWe wanted the same thing when he was in Toronto. Problem is he wants to be good at the wrong things.
If he would accept a role within his skill set he would be fine. Problem is he never will.Imagine how short Ben Wallace’s career would have been if he tried to play like Hakeem Olajuwan.

A Lil EnglishParticipantChris Douglas Roberts – still love his game, not sure why he hasn’t seemed to stick since the lockout.
Terrence Wiliams – good ball handler and solid defender. If only he could shoot better.
Daniel Gibson – very good shooter (career 40% 3pt), although most of this was playing off Lebron.
Ronnie Brewer – good defender although poor shooter0- Posted on: Wed, 08/14/2013 - 12:59am #833541
Seamo15ParticipantI was expecting CDR to tear it up at summer league, but he played a bit pedestrian, dunno what happened there

KidIcarus35ParticipantCDR and Terrence Williams are two of my favorite 2k guys. I just dont understand how they havent made the jump. Booby’s game 6 was one of the great playoff performances I’ve seen, and then all of a sudden he just completely fell off. So weird.

JoeWolf1Cole Aldrich – I’m a KU fan, and if he goes unsigned, his NBA career is most likely over. He’s really not that bad, not the player he was thought to be when he was chosen in the lottery, but he’s a 2nd stringer for a bad team or a 3rd stringer for a good team. Thing is he’s young and most teams go cheap veteran when looking at backup centers and Jason Collins, Drew Gooden, and other experienced guys are still on the market.

The Sacramento Kings, looking to fill the 15th roster spot with a backup center, could bring back a player who finished last season with the team. According to Jonathan Santiago and James Ham of Cowbell Kingdom, the team put Cole Aldrich through a workout on Monday.Aldrich was acquired last February as part of a trade with the Houston Rockets which also brought back Patrick Patterson and Toney Douglas for Francisco Garcia, Tyler Honeycutt and Thomas Robinson. During his short time with the Kings Aldrich did not play that much. Aldrich was not in their plans this offseason, but late in the game the team still needs to find a backup center behind DeMarcus Cousins and that’s why they turned to him.
According to the report, the New York Knicks also have interest in Alrdich.

PhogifyParticipantThe Kings need defense off of their bench. Aldrich seemed perfect for them last year. He had some of the best games of his career with the Kings. It’s definitely a little disappointing that just about all of our recent Jayhawks have underachieved so far. I can’t imagine the responses if Wiggins doesn’t work out in the NBA.

omphalosParticipantAs far as I know Xavier Henry got signed to a one-year deal by the Lakers. Perfect landing spot for him; the opportunity to learn from Kobe will be there if he wants it, and he’s the sort of player they desperately need (a tough, athletic wing defender).
I really hope Henry gets a chance at consistent minutes, he could thrive in D’Antoni’s offensive scheme.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantRonnie Brewer should play somewhere
Collins is old and probably should not have been in he NBA last year
Henry hope he gets another chance
Aldrich always looking for a big, but can he play?
CDR. its over (sad because he has the talent)
Pietrus will find a team and help them
Terrence Williams i have no idea why he has not been able to be successful
Tyrus Thomas once one of the great young bigs, what happened?
Barbosa should get 1 more year, but have no idea where, maybe miami?
Pek will be back in Minny when they have finished all other moves!0 - Posted on: Wed, 08/14/2013 - 4:14am #833463

benny15Participantguys on my list is a lot of the same with others..
Ronnie Brewer – a team such as the brooklyn nets should have signed since they dont have a designated perimeter stopper
Tyrus Thomas – still want to see what this guy could do in a team system that relies he to roam free from the ball and attention with really low expectations. looking at the lakers with this one.
Drew Gooden – feel he still has enough in the tank to be a cheap 3rd rotational player in his position who can surprisingly produce if given minutes due to injuries to others. thinking robinson’s situation in chicago last year and could be ideal for toronto or new orleans
Mikael Pietrus – basically the same role given to brewer but one who can stretch the floor on offense as well. can workout for a number of teams, the spurs, lakers, grizzlies, bulls, rockets, etc.0 - Posted on: Wed, 08/14/2013 - 7:07am #833483

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe Heat should look into getting Daniel Gibson. He played well with LeBron in Cleveland and would give the Heat an extra 3 point shooter. He could also be a solid third point guard.
I didn’t know that Lamar Odom was still a free agent. I think the Lakers should give him one last shot. They have bigs inside and when Kobe comes back it should still be a solid team. Kobe, Pau, and Odom always played well together.
Ronnie Brewer is serviceable. I think he could make a roster.
Cole Aldrich is big. There are worse bigs out there.
I just don’t think that Xavier Henry has that much talent. I don’t see much of a motor either. But he is still young and still cheap, so I think that a team in tank mode could bring him in for a full season audition. He is still a guy with legit two guard size and strength.

SiggyParticipantDelonte West and Ivan Johnson.
I think both guys can be helpful rotation guys on contenders. I’ll always be a fan of Delonte’s game because he does a lot of things well. He can shoot, defend both guard spots, he’s a solid decision maker, post up PGs and he can be a primary ball-handler in a pinch. Yeah yeah off the court stuff…I don’t think he’s a bad guy or has any ill intent, he has mental health issues. Playing basketball in a winning situation can be therapeutic for him.
Ivan Johnson has come a long way as well and he’s shown that he can be a capable role player off the bench, providing physicality and toughness with some offensive skill. He can battle for garbage buckets while also being able to step away and mid-range jumpers as well as making straight line drives from the same areas. Ivan is as tough as he looks, he’s fearless and can provide an intimidating element that plenty of frontcourts need.
I wouldn’t mind my Bulls picking up either of them. I hope they give one of these guys a shot.

TheTruth86ParticipantJohan Petro ? He’s an expirienced big guy (7’0″, 250 lbs) I think my Celtics could use him as a back-up ( don’t know whose backup though) on the 5 spot for one year or at least until February.
And about Ronnie Brewer, I don’t like Lakers but I IMO he could be the guy to help them battle for the 8th seed. They lack depth on the wing, they lack defensive presence there too.
Forgot to mention Drew Gooden and Ivan Johnson in my previous post, actually I was about to create a thread about serviceble FAs left out there but lacked the time. Now that the thread exists I’d like to develop it, there’re guys who deserve attention imo.
For example Jamal Tinsley – last season he had one of the highest assist per 48 mins ratios. I know he’s 35 but why not one of the younger teams in the league use him 12-15 mins per game (let’s say Phily), rookie and sophomore year guards may learn something from him.
