KHAM83ParticipantEven with a healthy Rondo, KG, and Pierce, I just don’t think the Celtics can compete for a title next year. We’ve seen Ainge plan his future around a draft before (Oden-Durant draft) and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him do it again for the 2014 draft. Reason why I bring that up, there are rumors that KG and Pierce will not return next year, so I think Ainge will take future picks if he cannot get players that wows him. I personally would like to see Garnet and Pierce sent somewhere they’ll have an opportunity to win again and hope Ainge takes that more into consideration.
My question to the forum- what teams makes sense, that can reasonably make a run at either player, or both?
San Antonio-They’ll have 15 million in cap space this offseason. Itll be great and I think KG wouldn’t mind playing alongside Duncan to make a final run.
OKC- How about Perkins and Lamb for KG? Boston gets Lamb who meshes well with Rondo. Bradley 6th man. OKC drafts best center available at 12, who along with Ibaka learns from KG.
Clippers- so many rumors has both Pierce and KG heading to LA.
Houston- Not sure of their cap space, but if they do sign Howard, they can deal Asik, T-Rob, and another young PF for KG.
Dallas- If they miss on Howard, and I suspect they will, they’ll have 20 million in space. Thinking they can trade #13, future pick(s), and Marion expiring deal for KG and Pierce. Then resign Mayo-Collison backcourt.

For_Never_EverParticipantIf I was the GM for the Thunder, I’ll take a good hard look at KG and try to pry him away.

LipstickParticipantGolden State has a lot of expiring contracts next season, so I always thought it was possible they could send those to Boston to clear up space for summer of 2014 in return for Pierce, KG, or both. Boston would get little in return though which, depending on how you look at it, is either good or bad. Bad because they’ll really struggle but also get a shot at a good draft pick.
I don’t see how Boston accepts trading KG for Perk and Lamb. Better throw in a first round draft pick or two, otherwise it’s as lopsided as my Golden State trade idea.

aramboneParticipanti could picture kg returning to boston if pierce is traded for asik or maybe even eric gordon. Kg and doc know how to limit kg’s minutes now. Kg doesnt really want to play for another coach or move or wear another uniform, as long as boston looks competitive. He rejected a trade to the more competitive clippers in his home town this feb. 20 mpg in a comfortable environment with help down low, and anything is possibllllllle. Losing Pierce is a loss for sure, but not worth demanding a trade and starting over. Kg bleeds green.

Mr. ChicagoParticipantHe was born in South Carolina, where he lived up until he was 17. Then he transferred and played his senior year at Farragut Academy in Chicago.

naldpolroyceParticipantIf boston will buyout pierce i think chicago has a great chance to sign him even at minimum salary. The bulls fits his needs. Great chance of competing for the title, starting shooting guard spot, another playmaker other than rose, and lastly coach thibs, which i think he would love to play for again. If that happens, i think garnett will follow

r377ParticipantPierce would slot straight into the starting SF slot ahead of Prince. KG / Zbo / Gasol could all split mins at the 4&5 spot.
As each player only has a season or two left I dont think they would get much for them. Ed Davis, Daye, maybe a draft pick or something of those combinations

220ParticipantSince Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce have both indicated they wish to retire Celtics I don’t imagine either being traded for fear they’d retire. I imagine both of them retiring rather than being traded.
