    Hey guys

Where does Ingram fit on this list at the same age?

    Durant

    Ingram

    Wiggins

    McGrady

    George

    Antetokounmpo

What do you think his peak stats will be?

I think he will be pretty close to Paul George in terms of production.

    Cheers

     McGrady

    Durant

    Ingram

    Wiggins

    Freak

    George

i think Ingram is a more natural scorer at this age than all but Durant. I think he could peak around 20ppg and maybe 6 & 5

I’ll ignore the T-Mac being ahead of Durant thing and say Ingram, in his prime, puts up something like 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. So thats like Paul George in productivity. What makes PG so special though is he does that while checking the opposition’s best players. Not sure if Ingram will do that…he might, but that’s honestly a tougher projection into his future than his offense I think.

I guess I’d rank the wings like this:

    KD – George – McGrady – Ingram – Wiggins – Antetekoumpo

I gave you plus one for your Ingram analysis but you must have only watched tmac the tail end of his career because if you watched his Orlando days there’s no way you could realistically say he wasnt better than KD. If it weren’t for those injuries we’d be talking about him now with the Jordan’s and kobes he was THAT good.

Unless I’m mistaken the question is to rank these players at Brandon Ingram’s current age, 18. At 18 Tracy McGrady had flashes of greatness, but he wasn’t consistently good yet or as impressive as he was in Orlando at 21.

I can’t rank Paul George at 18 because I didn’t know who he was so I’ll exclude him because I have no idea how good he was then.

        I’d rank them

        1. Durant

        2. Wiggins

        3. Ingram

        4. The Greek Freak

        5. McGrady

Tracy McGrady- Top tier athleticism to go with a silky smooth shot, the tightest handle and the best scoring arsenal from anywhere on the floor.

Kevin Durant- Mid level athlete with 7’5 wingspan and an above average handle for a 6’11 wing player. Has the most range, and best jumpshot of them all.

Paul George- A great athlete in his own right yet a notch down from Andrew Wiggins in that department. What gives him the edge is his smooth handle, sweet shooting stroke and natural feel for the game.

Brandon Ingram- Natural scoring instincts puts him in this spot but like Durant his naturally thin frame knocks him down a notch. Ball skills are decent for 6’9 but can improve. Shot is smooth and with improved consistency could move up a spot or 2 on the list.

Wiggins- The best natural athlete of them all however his limited ball skills and passing knocks him down. Has a decent midrange shot and improving 3 ball but in order to move up on the list he must improve drastically as a playmaker and justify the lock down defensive potential he had coming out of Kansas.

Giannis Antetokounmpo- A better playmaker and ball handler than Wiggins and Ingram but falls last on the list because of his limited shooting skills. Scores nearly all his points in the paint as a perimeter player. If he ever develops a jumpshot he could leapfrog a few spots as well however it’s unlikely.

Good analysis but you have to remember that you are ranking these guys based on how good they were at 18-19 yrs old, not in the prime of their careers. The 18 year old version of mcgrady wasn’t a very good shooter at all. That part of his game developed later on.

Judging by age can be difficult, especially when these players made significant leaps at different stages of their careers, but I’d rank’em:

    1. Durant- runaway best player in college basketball, young for a college freshman, similar build and athleticism as Ingram, much more refined game, would have a growth spurt in the next year.

    2. McGrady- the second most athletic of the group after Wiggins, McGrady was the best rebounder and defender, though his outside shot did not develop for another year or two.

    3. Ingram- superior length than Wiggins that is mostly offset by Wiggins elite athleticism. Pretty close to a toss up, give Ingram the edge for outside shooting.

    4. Wiggins- top 1% athleticism limited by scheme and still-developing floor game. Good post up game but lacks any ability to distribute.

    5. Giannis- had yet to have his 2 inch growth spurt at this age. Giannis was the most pass first of the group and had the most defense focused coach of the bunch.

    6. George- another guy yet to have a growth spurt, his athleticism ranked in the middle of this group, but he was not the defender we think of now, at Fresno State he was mostly a gunner, but a very good one.

I see Ingram topping out at 22 ppg, 8 rpg, 3 apg, 1.5 spg, 1.5 bpg, 24 PER, pretty close to where Paul George is. Half of these guys had unforseen growth spurts, and Ingram needs to hit the weight room, but his play style fits the modern NBA more than Wiggins’ did, the last comparably hyped swingman.

Ingram’s ball-handling and all-around offensive game is probably a step below where Durant was at the same age. Durant’s overall skill level was just so advanced for his age, maybe more than any prospect ive seen. He really just needed to develop his body and he was pretty much a guaranteed NBA superstar. Ingram is similar to Durant in that regard (build, body type) and has a very intriguing skill-set in his own right but he’s not quite as advanced as Durant imo, especially when it comes to creating his own shot.

Can’t necessarily speak on George, because I didn’t see him play much prior to being in the NBA. The other players you mentioned though (Wiggins, mcgrady, antetokoumpo) were all guys who were more so athletic freaks at the same age as ingram, but a little more raw in terms of skill-development. Not saying ingram isn’t a good athlete, but I don’t think he has the natural athleticism of any of those guys. I think his skill level is probably ahead of where they were at 18 though.

Hard to project what Ingram’s peak will look like at this point so I’m not even going to try. It all depends on his work ethic and if he is able to stay healthy.

I remember Orlando T-Mac…I guess I’d still take KD though.

If it’s one game…for both in their prime, it might be a toss up. But T-Mac was an elite guy in the league for a few years where KD has been one for about five years and I doubt he slows down until he’s 35.

I will say injuries robbed T-Mac of a surefire Hall of Fame career, but I don’t think it’s crazy to think Durant is ahead of him. It’s splitting hairs as we are talking about some of the best wings to play the game.

Crazy McGrady in his prime was above everyone one this list. Kd has always  had Westbrook and ibaka. Then he had harden, Kevin martin, now kanter. Who did tMac have? He and yao could have been great, but injuries took them both out. To say Gianni or Wiggins or Ingram will be better in their prime, especially after what we have seen so far is idiotic. You guys are lucky anyone can speak on the internet.

I will say Kd and McGrady is the closet to the  top of this list with tmac above kd, so yes it’s close but Kd at times get the you should be more aggressive statement thrown at him, you never heard that about tmac.

You know guys like tmac, even iverson get so much disrepair on this site, considering  neither got any significant help in their prime years.

You are definitely disrespecting Kevin Durant, he put up the same numbers (even better) with more efficiency for a longer amount of time and won an MVP. Infact he’s already had a better career imo and I have no idea why other people agree with you as well. If you look at their prime numbers (best season wise) Kevin Durant does what Tmac did with better shooting stats and more efficiency. Also you are mixing up T-Mac’s popularity with his on court success way too much. There have been coaches and even fans that questioned T-Mac’s effort (in practice, games)so as great as he was, he was no point at any time better than KD at any point in their respective careers. As prospects go KD would definitely be the first off the list and it wouldn’t be close. Greg Oden was hyped as the next great big man of the last twenty years as a prospect and by the end of their college seasons, Draft experts and scouts seriously contemplated KD.

You’re right sir, he should stop basketball.

T-mac was one the 3 biggest chucker of his era, that’s it, enough for 7 all star selections, 2 scoring titles and 2 1st team all nba.

Now a… 27 YO… Kevin Durant should be one the 5 best scorer all time, when it’s all said and done….

ROY, MVP, already 7 all star selections, 4 times scoring champ(with westbrook, how many with darell armstrong ?) and 5 1st team all nba.

Nba finals, OG and WC gold with team USA, a member of the 50-40-90 club, 29 PPG in PO for his career and the list goes on.

neg me all you want but tmac is severely overrated. He never won a playoff series (well the spurs doesn’t count) but if durant switched spots with him he definately wouldve won at least a series in the leastern conference. Tmac was a great player and very smooth but don’t get caught up in his highlight reals. Great talent but definately underacheived.

You idiot are an idiot. Tmac only had help when he went to Houston and then injuries and the fact that he played against prime kobe with gasol, odom, also the suns and their brief juggernaut, and let’s not forget the spurs with the big 3 all in their prime.

Kd ad I already stated always has played with at least 1 all star, when harden was their he had 2. You can’t logically think kd and tmac played their careers with equal help?!.

I swear if some of you guys on this sight were handed free common sense on the street yall would probably turn it down. Underachiever, tmac really? Your brain underachieves.

Wow that’s a good burn lol.

I hope people don’t think I’m being "idiotic" for preferring Durant to T-Mac. Perhaps I’m being a prisoner of the moment but I just think KD has been the better player. That’s not a knock on T-Mac. In his prime, he was as fun to watch as anyone in the game. Injuries robbed him of a Hall of Fame career. I just think Durant is better. It’s not like he’s far and away better.

Hope people aren’t super sensitive to something like that.

It’s just splitting hairs — they are both great players, and anyone would love to have either on their team.  I also prefer Durant perhaps because he’s gotten a little further than TMac in the playoffs and has been recognized as the league’s MVP.  McGrady reminds me of this generation’s CP3 who I fear may go down like McGrady having been an all-pro player, one of the best at his position, but never able to get his team over the hump (for whatever reason) and never able to quite make their case in NBA history as one of the truly greatest players.  There is still time for CP3, but the clock is ticking.   For McGrady, the clock sadly ran out.

He definitely belongs in the same breath as those players.  Also, while he’s not the most athletic, he’s extremely smooth and a natural basketball player.  Also, please do me a favor and vote for me in the troll derby on mwcboard.com.
