JoeWolf1When a team fails, it’s only natural that someone is going to get the blame, take the heat or in some cases get thrown under the bus. As Chicago was eliminated by the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals that man seemed to be Carlos Boozer. People were suggesting a trade, but to me, after watching the Finals, Chicago really just needs….Jason Terry, or someone like him.
Chicago really lacks a guy to bring off the bench and infuse offense at a higher level than Kyle Korver. A veteran player who could start for a number of teams and fell up the points column when Rose, Boozer or Deng is struggling. Dirk had an awful first half last night, but it wasn’t a starter that stepped up, it was that elite 6th man type player in Jason Terry that got it done.
When you look at Championship teams, many have them. This isn’t just unique to Dallas, Tony Kukoc of the old Chicago teams, Lamar Odom of the past two Laker title teams, Manu for the Spurs title teams just to name a few.
Chicago has a great backup forward in Taj Gibson, but he’s not a reliable offensive player that can create his own shot. Yes, he can shoot off the pick and roll and pick and pop and create excitement around the rim, but he’s too reliant on other players, sans offensive rebounding opportunities, to set him up to really be considered a reliable offensive bench threat.
With free agency approaching, I think the Bulls need to make a play to bring Jamal Crawford back to Chicago. The Bulls need that type of offensive spark that can create his own shot and few are better in that situation than Jamal Crawford. Plus he just happens to be a free agent this year. The Bulls aren’t missing a whole lot, and I think adding Jamal Crawford as that stat filling shot creator off the bench will be a big step in the right direction for them.

Cardinal_FanParticipantI still point the finger at Boozer….outside of the fact that they do need a second perimeter scorer outside of Rose that can create. Boozer lack of defense and lack of ability to score in the paint when the shots weren’t falling from the outside really hurt Chicago. I think they can win with Boozer if they do get a legit starting 2 guard, but Boozer will have to buy in2 giving 100% on the defensive end for them to really go far becuz Gibson is better served being a backup.

PlatypusParticipantTrade ideas
1. Taj Gibson and Ronnie Brewer for OJ Mayo
2. 28 and 30th pick for the 20th pick
draft Faried and draft Isiah Thomas
OR
Draft picks: with out my trades or any (picks are according to 2011 mock from who’s available)
28: Nikola Vucevic (can never have enough big man depth)
30: Travis Leslie (under rated big time)
2nd round: Isiah Thomas (scoring point guard who will work hard and be a possible back up)
Rose – Leslie – Deng – Boozer – Noah
Watson / Thomas – Bogans / Brewer – Korver / Brewer – Gibson – Asik / Vucevic

Cardinal_FanParticipantThere is a reason Travis Leslie is a projected 2nd rounder…..i dont think he is the answer becuz offensively he is very raw an has alot of holes in his game, i doubt that he can come in an contribute rite away. Marshon Brooks would be a great get for them if possible. I think they should actually talk to Washington about getting their hands on Nick Young or Jordan Crawford.

PlatypusParticipant1. get a real starter at the 2, there are way too many good point guards with out a decent shooting guard (ie: Rose, Paul, Nash, and Deron)
solution: go sign either Crawford, Young, or JR Smith
2. get a bench scorer, that bench cant score, no complaint about the bench bigs, i beleive they have the best bench power forward / center combo in the league but the 1-3 positions are killing this team, korver is a keeper because he can shoot the 3 well which is what every ‘ship team needs, but they need a scorer bad
Solution: Barbosa, Stuckey, or Marcus Thorton

JoeWolf1I felt Boozer’s perimeter defense hurt Chicago. Chris Bosh’s range scorched him, but his post defense was alright. I agree he needs to work on his versitility on the defensive end. He doesn’t have good lateral quickness, but you can’t just NOT close out because you think your man might blow past you. Chicago’s help D is good enough they can recover to a driving Chris Bosh, but if you don’t get a hand in his face while he’s shooting an 18 footer, he’ll hit that every time.
I think adding Crawford would be ideal, maybe Jason Richardson could be a good addition, but in the draft I think they should go after Nolan Smith or Shelvin Mack with the 27 or 29th pick. C.J. Watson played well this season, but I don’t feel he’s a long time fit for a backup point guard and Chicago doesn’t even suit up a 3rd string PG. Mack or Smith would be a good fit because of their maturity, experience in big college games and ability to score and distribute at the PG position. I think Morris would be the best fit, but he’s gone by the time the Bulls pick.

Cardinal_FanParticipant@JoeWolf1 I think the Bulls should take a long look at Jeremy Tyler, he still has alot of potential and with the help of Thibodeau at worst could be a really good defensive player.

JoeWolf1Jeremy Tyler has grown on me too he is a PF who can play C, and with Asik they wouldn’t need him right away. My only concern is that he’ll be taken before the Bulls pick, I think guys like Vucevic and Tyler will go higher in this draft because a lot of teams need size, this draft isn’t deep and those are two very good prospects.
I agree, his defensive potential in that system could be a great combo and I had Tyler going to Chicago at 28 in one of my earlier mocks, but I feel he’s gonna go 20-25. Chicago would need to trade up if they wanted to get him.

Cardinal_FanParticipantMaybe they could package their picks and Asik or Gibson to move up to Denver’s 22 spot and nab Tyler and Denver gives them Aaron Afflalo????

JoeWolf1Affalo would be a great player for Chicago to add, but I’m one of those guys that loves what Asik brings to the table. But you’re right they’d probably have to give him up to a team like Denver, especially with Nene’s free agency this summer.
The Bulls are in kind of a weird position, IMO, they are in a win now situation and I know they really like their core of players, but they are also in a position where they need to improve.
In my opinion, the best way to get Tyler would be to draft another big like Jordan Williams or Trey Tompkins and make a deal to swap picks and add a vet in like Korver or Brewer. I think Tyler has some major upside, but Asik is already a playoff seasoned young big who is just starting to tap into his potential. Me being an Asik lover I think he’s too much to give up and a league that lacks 7′ footers for someone who is unproven.

jonus grumbyParticipantDo you think GarPax would be willing to take Tyler?
