My buddy did a preview on my site. Check it out! http://lucasshapiro.wordpress.com/2010/08/27/nbas-west-side-story/

Other than that, I thought this was a very good article. I agree with it and everything makes great sense.

Anton123ParticipantI found the Nintendo reference really good (being 16 I still had a Nintendo, darn Eastern Europe)
Interesting article, I agree with most of it, although I think if Houston stays healthy it’s way better than an 8th spot team, to me more like a 4-5 spot team0 - Posted on: Fri, 08/27/2010 - 6:31am #386798

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThe Rockets comment was a “mouth full”. I haven’t laughed like that in a while. Gives new meaning to the Rockets “8th seed”.

round moundParticipantOnce you get past the Lakers. My own predictions:
1. Lakers
2. Thunder
3. Jazz
4. Mavs
5. Blazers
6. Spurs
7. Rockets
8. Nuggets or SunsThis order could change depending on where Melo ends up being traded.

stanford hoopswhy does everyonekeeping putting okc number 2 on here?..they arent better then utah, houston(with yao) portland, or dallas. Some ggot overly excited because of the lakers series….news flash they lost that series 4-2. dont wanna hear how close it was because close only counts in horse shoes and the fact that they are a bad match up for the lakers. they play any of the other top seeds and they lose 4-1 or 4-2 and its not as close

round moundParticipantThat barring injuries, the Thunder won’t continue to improve with their young talented nucleus. I agree Houston COULD be really good, but there are so many question marks with that team, and they are so fragile. Kevin Martin is very injury prone, and Yao’s next serious injury (not a matter of “if” but “when”) will probably end his career. Portland falls into the same category. Both teams have key players who spend more time in street clothes then on the court. If everything finally fell into place for a season, the Blazers could be dangerous. Dallas and Utah just seem more stable, and could very well finish in front of the Thunder. I expect a very tight race, and injuries or lack thereof will probably tell the tale.

L.ShapParticipantI don’t see why OKC wouldn’t be in the race for #2.. What don’t they have at this moment in time?

omphalosParticipantI can actually see the Mavs dropping out of the 8. Kidd isn’t getting any younger; neither is Dirk. Sure, they picked up Chandler and Haywood but in the case of the former he has trouble staying healthy, and in the latter he just isn’t that great. Marion is over the hill, and Terry is getting on in years too.
Don’t be surprised if a young, motivated Grizzlies team sneaks in, or if the Paul, Ariza tag-team works out and they sneak into the 8. I also see the Suns dropping out; they didn’t make playoffs the year STAT was injured, now that he’s gone I can’t see them doing any better. Grizz might be a year off, but New Orleans with a healthy Paul and a guy who can defend the Durants, Kobes and Lebrons in Ariza they should be competitive at least.
If Portland stay healthy they go #2 in my opinion; they have pretty much every base covered, and are an incredibly deep team. They won 50 games without most of their best rotation for most of the season. Just think about that.
Spurs should be re-invigorated by Splitter and a rested Ginobili. I wanted to avoid making an actual list, but its just shorter if I just do it;
#1: Lakers
#2: Portland (if healthy)
#3: Thunder
#4: Houston
#5: Jazz
#6: Spurs
#7: New Orleans
#8: Grizzlies~9: Suns, Mavs, Nuggets (assuming they lose Melo), Kings.

L.ShapParticipantYou make a very good point. I like that you respect the Grizzlies. Not many people do. After watching Gasol and Gay at the Olympics, I agree with this.

stanford hoopslol. You act like Dallas has aged five years in one season. Going a lil overboard with okc though. They clearly are not better then Dallas,Portland Houston Utah or Denver
