SwatLakeCityParticipantI don’t think the Pels make the playoffs. They have a huge hole at the 3 and have had it their since CP3 was a Hornet, I think!! And Cousins unfortunately just isn’t a winner.
Here’s what I think: GSW, Houston, Spurs, Thunder, Wolves, Jazz, Blazers, Nuggets
The Clippers just miss the playoffs because they lost CP3 and while they got back something for him they will still miss him terribly. When the Clippers did have CP3 and he was out with injuries, Clippers struggled mightily. And now that will be prolonged over the course of an 82 game season. Beverley and Teodosic are both poor replacements to CP3. They may finally have a legitimate 3 in Gallo but he is injury prone. The Jazz exposed them big time last year and would have eliminated them in 5 or 6 games if they didn’t have so many injuries.
The Jazz make the playoffs because even after losing Hayward, they quickly rebuilt around defensive hog Rudy Gobert. Exum also majorly improves. Utah may have to adjust to life without Hayward by Quinn Snyder was able to help this team adjust last year on the fly with so many injuries to key players. If he could it on the fly then he certainly could do it again with more preparation.

Miko4rm206ParticipantTrue any team with a elite SF will take advantage of the pelicans but other than Kd, Pg13, Kahwi and the T-wolves wing duos I don’t see then haVing a problem with Rondo, Jrue, Cousins and AD.
As for the jazz you lose George Hill and Gordon hayward. Arguably your 1 and 2 scoring options. Gobert is not a offensive threat. You have both exum and Rubio who are question marks from 3. And I haven’t seen enough of exum to be like yooo Exum is ready to compete with Russell westbrook, Damian Lillard or Jeff Teague on a nightly basis. And that’s just in the division. I like Rodney hood and Donavan Mitchell but asking 1 of them to fill in haywards shoes next year I don’t see it.

dmo21ParticipantAs rosters stand right now, here who’s I got:
1. Golden State
2. Houston
3. Oklahoma City
4. San Antonio
5. Portland
6. Minnesota
7. Utah
8. Clippers
I feel like Denver, New Orleans and Memphis all have a shot at the last couple spots too.

Memphis MadnessParticipant1. Warriors
2. Thunder
3. Rockets
4. Spurs
5. Blazers
6. T Wolves
7. Grizzlies
8. Pelicans
I like 2-4 but maybe in a different order…
The next 4 spots are WIDE OPEN.
I think every West team other than the Kings contends for a playoff spot.
A team MIGHT need 45 or 46 wins to get in…
Depends on how many games the Warriors win overall, then how many games the East’s worsts lose…

Captain LParticipantI don’t see Memphis making the playoffs, I also don’t see why people think Portland is going to be better than last year. I think Jazz will be better than people think, they will find people to fill in for Hayward and the D will carry them. I like Minnesota and Denver making the playoffs.

terrancebowerParticipantI really think everyone outside of the Suns, Lakers and Kings have a shot at the 8th. The Mavs are the most questionable, but if Smith has a ROY quality season, Noel resigns and anchors the defence, another year of progress from Barnes… it’s not out of the question.

mgreener_34Participant1. Warriors

8. Jazz
I think these are clearly the best teams out West from a talent and coaching standpoint. Mavs are low key having a good rebuild, but it’s just that, a rebuild. Pelicans are interesting, but they have only 4 legit NBA players on that roster, and if one of those guys misses some time they will be hurting. I’m not a believer in the Blazers until they find someone who can play some defense, but the Grizz I could see making it.
I think the top 3 is pretty much set in stone. All 3 of those teams have been at the top of the West for years now, and all of them got better this year, yes, even OKC. Geroge isn’t nearly the player KD is, but this is the first time I have looked at the Thunder roster and thought, "Oh that’s a nicely balanced team." They will be a good, hard nosed defensive team that wears you down over the course of the game. With the firepower of Westbrook and George now they will be a hard team to beat.
The Spurs I think drop, but out of respect for Kawhii and Pop, I’ll give them #4.
I think people are also under rating the Nuggets. I know they’re young, but they have some solid vets on that team, and are very versatile.
Jokic- Hernangomez
Milsap- Farried
Chandler- Barton
Harris- Murray
EM- Nelson
That team has very talented and versatile big men, and a lot of two way potential from their guards. If Muiday can become even a servicable starter they will be pushing 50 games. They just have too much depth for the regular season.
