mds0549ParticipantI hope that Love signs a 5 year deal with the Wolves but stays away from needing the MAX $$$ so they can keep their eyes on the future.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI hope this doesn’t hinder their ability to sign Harden and Ibaka when the time comes.

FastAndFuriousParticipantYou give Big time players big time money, regardless of his negatives, his positives outweigh his negatives by a ton.
Great job OKC, Durant and Westbrook for the next couple years, will be havoc in the NBA, in addition to if they can keep the rest of the core together as well.
Once again great move by OKC.

joecheck88ParticipantOKC did the right thing in extending him but it seems kind of steep. Rondo got 55 mil over 5 years and I am not saying either one is better than the other but I think their value to their teams are very similar. I think Rondo is underpaid & westbrook a little overpaid. They should both probably be in the 65-70 mil range.
But props to OKC & Westbrook. Westbrook deserved big money & OKC is a small market that needs to keep its young stars.

UNCbasketballbumParticipantRussell Westbrook is obviously an electric player and a great talent. Imagine if a playe like Chris Paul or Rajon Rondo played for the Thunder. They would average double digit assists easy playing with Durant and Harden. Westbrook is a scorer more than a distributor. I don’t know if there is friction between KD and Westbrook, but if I was the Thunder, I would have laid off the extension and looked to trade for a true a true pg to play with the league’s best scorer.

FastAndFuriousParticipantWestbrook is the perfect fit for the Thunder, IDK why people keep saying trade for a pure PG, they need Westbrook to do what he does, yes even I a big Russ fan admits sometimes he does do a little too much at times, but he has to be aggressive for that Thunder team to win.
Durant still averages 26 a game yes it could be a little bit higher, but people act like if Rondo or Nash was there Durant would average 50 a game, not going to happen with Durant,Kobe,Lebron nobody is going to ever average 50 a game in the NBA.
Westbrook has to score, Ibaka isn’t a scorer, Thabo isn’t a scorer, Perkins isn’t a scorer, the only other player that can get theirs is Harden and he comes off the bench.
Westbrook is perfect for OKC, once he matures OKC will contend for titls year in year out, hell they might even do it without him maturing, that’s just how could that young group of guys are.

UNCbasketballbumParticipantFirst off I never said Durant would average 50 a game with a pure point guard. Just stating an opinion and everyone has a right to there’s.

surveParticipantif you say who is the better PG, you can easily make a case for Rondo. so when you compare salaries it does seem lopsided. the thing is they both fit perfect just where they are. Rondo is not a scorer, but he doesnt need to be with the Celts. on the other hand, youngdave is 110% correct, Westbrook does what he has to do for the Thunder and he is a near perfect fit….unless they were able to get a pure PG and move him over to the SG. I dont agree that Westbrook shouldve been traded. He is young and learning and given the situation, the deal makes sense, rather to risk losing him and then taking a step backwards. Yes there is a concern about being able to retain Harden and Ibaka. But FIRST THING FIRST….Durant….then Westbrook….then…whoever.

Toronto16ParticipantThe new CBA is set up that teams can resign all their players

aamir543ParticipantPeople don’t realize this, but the Thunder need to win fast before they turn into a two man team with no good role players. Yes they can resign Ibaka and Harden, but remember that they would over the luxary tax, and for a small market team, they want to stay away from that. If they win now, that releases a lot of pressure, and they don’t need to make any desperation moves that will end up huting them like it did to Cleveland.

marcusfizer21ParticipantIt would be dumb for OKC NOT to resign one of their main guys… As critical as I am of Westbrook’s game, he still deserves an extension because of the fact that he is part of the success the Thunder is having… James Harden should be next…

IndianaBasketballParticipantGood move by OKC. Anybody know the numbers?

Malik-UniversalParticipantwestbrook fits this team…
they need his scoring and aggresiveness… he needs to control his turnovers and dont play as fast
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/19/2012 - 5:01pm #626698
Malik-UniversalParticipant5 yrs. 80 mill

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’m happy they gave him his money and showed faith in him because he’s gotten better every season and hasn’t even come close to being how good he can be.
