Why is everybody so ready to talk bad about Westbrook but not D. Rose? Why is nobody talking about Rose taking 27 shots tonight while shooting 7 threes and 0 free throws? At least when Westbrooks took 30 shots he got to the line from being aggressive. I love both players but I hate when people constantly give Rose a pass when he does the same thing as Westbrook. This game tonight was like a game where Kobe tries to do too much to get going instead of letting the hot guy get his in this case was Deng who was having a very efficient game. These guys are pretty much the same player only Rose doesn’t have a great scorer like Durant on his team.

Because Rose is the teams 1st option and main scorer. He actually has an above average jumper and though we know Deng & Boozer have the ability to get their own shot, they acted scared to do so all year, so Rose has to break down the defense nearly every play. Unless it’s a pick-n-roll guys just stand around on that team and wait for him to operate then feed off him. Some nights he does over-shoot, but he’s doing all the work to make the offense go I don’t blame him for trying to get himself going.

Westbrook on the other hand has a decent(at best) jumper. He’s never made more than 35 3’s in a season, yet he’ll pull 7 unconsiously like he’s Ray Allen. Did I mention he led the league in TO’s this year when he doesn’t even have the ball in his hands as much as Rose. Oh yeah, and he happens to have the best scorer in the league on his team. That’s why.

I think the only real reason that Westbrook gets any flak for shooting too much is because he has Durant shooting the lights out on his team and he just ignores him.

The game Denver won Durant was wide open on the wing and Westbrook drove 1 on 4 and forced up a wild shot.

So the thought is that Westbrook is letting his success this season get to his head a little bit when he should be deferring to Durant.

But at least I can admit when Westbrook is wrong, like he does shoot alot, he is out of control alot, and he needs to learn the game, yall always got an excuse for Rose just admit he’s human he plays bad or mediocore at times as well.

Rose has turned into a chucker sometimes with his newfound 3 point shot. I’ve recognized that while talking about Westbrook in the other thread made on sunday I think, but if anyone watches the game, one must question why in the hell does he play hero ball so much when he has a 30pt scorer on his team. He fills the stat sheet, but PG play goes beyond stats. Rose does wastes possessions as well, but people look at his situation differently than Westbrook, which it is.

Conley- 15 points/7 assists/2 steals/0 turnovers

Westbrook- 29 points/8 rebounds/6 assists/7 turnovers

Sure Westbrook looked better when it comes to points and rebounds but Westbrook took 23 shots to Conley’s 13 and he did not get his team involved enough to win. The majority of his assists was just Durant being Durant while Conley dishes the ball to everyone and just was a floor general. He did not cough up the ball and did not give the Thunder a chance to score off turnovers.

Westbrook is the teams clear 2nd option. He needs to be putting up shots in this starting lineup

He didn’t have a good game, but the way the team is set up, he’s supposed to be shooting a lot. Critcize him for his shot selection… sure. But since Durant is really the only other option at times, Westbrook will end up taking a couple bad shots per game.

If anything, it’s the Coach’s fault. OKC needs to give heavy minutes to Harden. Sefolosha is not nearly as useful in this series going against Tony Allen.

People just totally overrate Rose sometimes because he started the season so strongly but most people don’t see how far his shooting numbers have dropped. I don’t really mind if he gets the MVP, his team has the best record and he played a great season and is by far the best player on that team. I think the biggest reason the Bulls are so good because of their D and bench play.

And imo he is still far from the best player in the league. I still think: Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Howard easily over him. Anthony, Paul, D-Will, Dirk, Durant on the same level. But he is in his third year, so no need to rush, he will get up there 🙂

All I can say is Russ improves every year in a BIG TIME league, at a position he never played until he got to the NBA, ceiling is high for him and I think he will reach it.

Both a very similar but I would say that Westbrook is a little better than Rose. Westbrook has a better Assist to turnover ratio and right now, is the better shooter of the two. What makes Rose great is his ability to take over when driving the ball. If both can get a consistent jumper, then I can see them getting more attention than Paul and Williams.

Westbrook seems to be going full speed every possession and missing shots at the rim and needs to learn to change gears, but I agree that Rose gets a pass on being a volume shooting PG.  I like them both but they both have to work on their decision making and shot selection.

 He took 27 shots because he had too. Who else is going to take them? An injured Carlos Boozer? Luol Deng took 12 shots, sure he could’ve used 4-5 more because he was hot but isn’t a guy you want taking 20 shots in a game. Westbrook can kick to Durant anytime he wants and doesn’t, Rose is the main guy and Boozer is hurt, that’s we he shoots so much. The difference between them is quite obvious.

You have to be what your team needs. Westbrook and D.Rose are in 2 diff positions. Westbrook has to walk the very fine line of when to attack, and when to facilitate. Durant is option 1 and 2, then its Westbrook. Its not a bad thing or a knock on him,Durant is one of the best in the game. D.Rose is the Chicago offense,he does what he sees fit and everyone else falls in line. Comparing them by stats says nothing on what helps their respective teams. Westbrook has to pick and choose his spots much better from here on out.
