29 points on 13-18 fg’s and 13 rebounds and made the big plays down the stretch. He looked dominant vs the clippers in the preseason and is capable of battling dwight for best center in the league if he stays healthy. Yeah I said it.

on a sour note for the lakers, the nuggests should feel like they blew this one. Gallinari blew an absolute layup to tie the game 5 seconds to go. Blake couldnt buy a 3 although i continue to like his confidence taking the shots. Metta had his first bad game where he played like last years ron that felt entitled to create shots and he finished 0-8 from the field with 4 turnovers. Kobe didnt shoot well but finished 1 assists short of a triple double. Matt barnes has been inserted into the starting lineup and he has been great for them this year doing all the little things.

    Bynum was a MONSTER.

He looked very strong, spry and just athletic today.

The Lakers miss Odom, but the bigs of Bynum, Pau and McRoberts isn’t too bad.

If Bynum is the second best Center in the league then why would you give up your entire front-court for the first best Center in the league, I just don’t get some Lakers fans. (Not speaking directly to you perez) But if Bynum can stay healthy he is younger that Dwight and has shown the skills to be 1b at Center. I know Bynum has been injured a lot but no player is immune to injuries maybe now he can finally stay healthy and I think it would be a dumb trade for the Lakers, just like I thought the CP3 trade was dumb.

i agree evolution, i know laker fans who would love to send bynum and pau for dwight. I think they should be arrested. If orlando ends up in a situatin where they might lose dwight for nothing, they would be lucky to just get bynum straight up. I would never trade both.

"If Bynum is the second best Center in the league then why would you give up your entire front-court for the first best Center in the league"

    1. Bynum hasn’t played a full season.
    2. Pau Gasol played terribley in the playoffs.
    3. The best frontcourt was falling apart when they lost Odom.
    4. The best frontcourt WILL fall apart IF/WHEN Bynum gets injured again.
    5. The gap between the "second best center in the leaguer" and Dwight Howard is monsterous.

now they’re in a tight spot because they dumped lamar, but if i had lamar on the team still, i would throw bynum and gasol in their face for howard

    1. Bynum hasn’t played a full season.-he hasnt suffered an injury in 2 years. Give him a chance to stay healthy. Hes still young and his injuries were not like he was running and hurt his foot just randomly. They were legit accidents where guys rolled him up, things that hopefully wont happen to too many athletes.
    2. Pau Gasol played terribley in the playoffs.this past year he did. What did he do the 2 post seasons before that? You cant take an entire career of a guy and decide based on 1 playoff performance that he is done. I mean he played dwight pretty m-uch straight up in the 2009 finals held superman to 17 points a game and more turnovers then assists.
    3. The best frontcourt was falling apart when they lost Odom.-odom mentally checked out. Mcroberts and murphy are solid. Pau and bynum is the best big man duo in the league. I wouldnt call that falling apart. Plus once again, odom’s role was bound to deminish if bynum was healthy.
    4. The best frontcourt WILL fall apart IF/WHEN Bynum gets injured again.-agreed.
    5. The gap between the "second best center in the leaguer" and Dwight Howard is monsterous.-not if healthy. find anyone who doesnt think bynum is 20 and 10 minnimum if healthy. Plus he has a more reliable post game and hits his ft’s.

alone, i would have no problem trading either guy for dwight. But not both. 2 all-star 7 footers for one? ONly makes sense if you truly believe bynum is a injury waiting to happen.

    • Yes, that makes a lot of sense but we, as athletes, both know that when you roll an ankle or sprain a knee, it is more likely for that ankle or knee to give out again simply for the fact that it’s weak.  Whether they were accidents or not, the human body will not be 100% after that.

"You can’t take an entire career of a guy and decide based on 1 playoff performance"

    • That may be the case but when Pau Gasol crumbled, the entire Laker team went down in flames.  Do you really want to place all your marbles in one basket and say "If Pau plays well, we’ll win." because we both know Pau isn’t the kind of guy that can carry a team whereas Dwight Howard has led a terrible team to the finals.

"McRoberts and Murphy are solid.  Pau and Bynum are the best big-man duo in the league."

    • They are also some of the most inconsistent big-men in the league as well.  We saw today what Bynum is capable of but he’s not always this aggresive.  He’s a guy that can go 20-10 in any game but is okay with going 11-9.  The same with Pau, some games, he has it going and other games he relaxes and lets Kobe do it all.  Whereas Dwight Howard is going to give you 18+ppg and 12+rpg on a consistent basis as well as defense in the post.

I honestly don’t believe that AT THE MOMENT Bynum could go for 20-10 when healthy.  He doesn’t have that kind of fire on a consistent basis.  Granted, he is a very good solid and possibly the 2nd best center in the league but the gap between him and a three-consecutive-time DPoY and a 22-14-3blk threat every game is huge.  I mean ridiculously huge.  Bynum doesn’t bring the same defense, energy, scoring, rebounding, and intangibles that Howard brings.

Obviously trading Pau and Bynum for Dwight would be ridiculous but the Lakers are in a very tough position where they have all their marbles on Pau and Bynum.  Kobe can carry a team but with Big3’s and DynamicDuos being built in the league, the Lakers need Pau and Bynum to both be healthy and on their A-game.

It’s not impossible, but it’s not a safe bet either.

I still don’t like him (and never will) after all those uncalled for fouls like the one on JJ barea in the finals, stuff like that can end a players career.
