The interesting ones are guys like Marc Gasol, Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap. A couple of these guys took shorter contracts last time and all these guys turn 30 early next year. So I’d figure they would be looking for the best possible pay day, so it might take a very good offer to get them to move elsewhere.

Rondo’s options may well depend hugely on if he gets traded to a team he is likely to resign with pre deadline day.

I’m not a Knicks fan, but I’m really curious to see what they end up doing next offseason.  Gasol is an obvious fit.  I’d also imagine they’ll look to upgrade the PG position.  The PG isn’t used to distribute as much in the triangle, so I don’t think they’ll go after guys like Rondo and Rubio, but I could see them going for a guy like Dragic, or if they miss out on him, a guy like Brandon Knight if he shows some improvement this year.

I think Knight could actually be a perfect relatively cheap PG option for them.

The Knicks will have cap space and Phil Jackson will surely be looking to make majjor moves to form a side around Melo. Dragic would be a good fit for them as Phoenix may not want to commit major money to him having recently signed Thomas and resigned Bledsoe.

LaMarcus Aldridge will also surely get loads of offers but he would need a major pitch to get him to move way from Portland given he has always talked about finishing his career there and Portland can offer him a very lucrative 5 year deal.

I think they could lure in Paul Millsap. Only issue, I’m not sure how well he fits in the triangle.

I dont see Dragic going anywhere Phoenix gas been very good for him although he would be an amazing compliment to NYs triangle system and for that team in general.

I also dont see Gasol bolting as he seems happy in Memphis and they will likely offer the max if he demands it.

Jefferson could be on the move if Charlotte struggles this year but he will likely be looking for a longterm payday.

Monroe maybe a surprise, I think he will do well with SVG this year and resign to Detroit despite the lack of negotiation both parties displayed this offseason.

I think Aldridge would be on the move and something tells me he will be headed to New York.

Brandon Knight has the ideal skillset fot NYs triangle system although he seems to be a 2nd option to Dragic imo. Also The Bucks love to overpay to keep their players regardless of ownership due to the nature of a small market basketball team.

Calderon will thrive in NY this year and unless he shows signs of being injury prone or just aging NY would be hard pressed to find an upgrade. He is an extrwmely under the radar player is great for a teams culture and shows he can thrive as a leader in a winning atmosphere.

Jeff Green will likely be on the move. His landing spot should be depending on how he plays this year. If he has a career year he will likely go the higheat bidder. If he has a year similar to Evan Turner last year (getting traded midseason and losing minutes/productivity) I could see him falling into the laps of a contender or a team promising minutes.

I do not see Jeff Green resigning with the Celtics. They already have Turner, Young, and Green right now so I expect the Celtics to try and trade him. I would like to see Brandon Knight sign with the Clippers and be backup for CP3 just like Bledsoe and Collison did it.

Regarding Brandon Knight, everything will depend what the Bucks do about renewing him. I’d guess that John Hammond would be looking to extend him pretty soon after he put up career best figures last year but it probably all hinges on what Jason Kidd thinks of him. The logic says you try to extend a young prospect ASAP in case he has another breakout year in his final rookie contract year and then someone else offers him a very large deal. A $40 odd million 4 year deal suddenly becomes $55 million plus, I’m not saying Knight is worth this but that could be the scenario or a Greg Monroe type case.

As a young PG I’d think Knight would hugely benefit playing under Kidd and he will get the chance to create for Jabari, Greek Freak and co. We may really see where Knight is as a prospect.

As regards the Knicks, I’ll be very interested to see how Calderon can run a triangle type offence which we assume Derek Fisher will be using. It’s been a few years since Melo played under a real pass first PG and he played some of his best basketball when Andre Miller and Chauncy Billups were his main running mates.

I agree that Paul Millsap would be the sort of strongman forward the Knicks might need, I’d also throw in Greg Monroe who is a very good passer for a big man and would surely be a good fit on a triangle type offence especially with Melo being a constant scoring threat and Calderon creating openings.

We should shed quite a bit of salary being used on overpaid players ( ie Jason Terry), the salary of Luis Scola (it does not count against the cap, but the money comes out of the owner’s pocket) and guaranteed contracts of second round draft picks and D League call ups.

We have a solid pair of perennial All-NBA players in Dwight Howard and James Harden, an All-Defensive team player in Patrick Beverley (due for an extension by the way), and one of the league’s best 3 and D players in Trevor Ariza (who seems like he has been in the league forever, but is on the right side of 30).

With all of that being said, the Rockets are in the market for a rebounding power forward who has shooting range out to 17 feet and can give us around 8-10 rebounds per game. Of the players on that list above, Paul Millsap is the only one that should be in any sort of consideration. Our biggest issue, outside of perimeter defense (Harden and Parsons were both horrible last season), was rebounding. If that can be addressed, then the Rockets have had a good year in free agency, if we waste money on another washed up player that can’t help, we have another wasted summer like the one that just passed.
