The Walking Dead
Tonight was the mid -season finale for season 2 and it was a great one. This show is intense and most definitely my favorite. Anyone else around here watch or am I the only one?
Missed last nights episode! What happened in it?
Man it was a damn epic episode. Shane went nuts(as usual), broke rules, got put in his place by carl. Daryl and Sophia's mom(can't remember her name) had another moment where they showed a developing closeness. Rick told herschel about Lori being pregnant and talked him into letting them stay.
I just can't tell anymore in good spirit. Wait a few days and watch the episode on http://www.amctv.com/shows/the-walking-dead
Hope you get to watch it bro, like I said, the perfect clincher episode for a mid-season finale. No new episodes until February 12th though :(
Never seen the show, but this thread has gotten me interested
oh and if you ever miss episodes or just want to replay some again. heres a website i watch all my tv shows on if i get bored www.tv-links.eu/tv-shows/The-Walking-Dead_24227/
Ive been warching this show too. I am kind of pissed that AMC would give us all drama this season and after this episode take a mid-season brake until Feb.
As you said I dont want to spoil it for anybody so ill save my full opinion until later.
I haven't seen it but it's supposed to be very hearty.
No clue why the 1st season was only 6 episodes and no clue why they are pausing the 2nd season. Very odd. There have only been 13 episodes so far. I could probably watch the entire series in a day if I wanted to.
Have any of you fine lads seen Carnivale, The Wire, or Prison Break? I haven't seen them but they're all supposed to be amazing.
Thanks for the links, I really want to watch the episode (had a project at school, couldn't really watch it) but my brother said it was awesome and wouldn't tell me any more
Let us know when you watch it Toronto so we can all voice our opinions.
as for the reason of season one only having 6 episodes, it was simply to see how the fans reacted to a television show based around a zombie apocolypse without having to spend the money to develop an entire seasons worth of shows only to get cancelled 6 episodes in as some shows do. Second, the reason for the mid-season break is simply that, just about all shows actually take a mid-season break during the late holiday months to allow people to focus on christmas i suppose. Supernatural has one episode left until their mid-season break.
I absolutely can't wait for February 12th though for the break to be over, this show is absolutely incredible, though i may be a SLIGHT bit biased by the fact that I am an avid zombie fan in general having watched my first zombie movie at the age of 3 and never stopped.
We are all doomed, the Apocalypse is happening and people are getting eaten left and right...Oh sorry, I was just having my daily zombie fix...This show is the best on TV or Cable(way better than Boringwalk Empire)
BTW, Shane must DIE, Daryl is a bad ass Redneck survivalist and Carl's going to grow up to be a Beast...
Yep, awesome show. Any movie involving zombie apocalypse is intense lol.
And yeah ive seen all of prison break and it was my favorite show of all time.
Saw the 1st episode of The Walking Dead a couple of days ago.
Was very good.
I'm juiced up to watch the rest of season 1 and season 2 (so far) over the next couple of weeks.
I assume we find out what happens in between the sheriff being shot and the zombies taking over, right?
they never really explain WHY there are Zombies walking the Earth...But The Walkind Dead is the best because it asks the question "What would it do to the PEOPLE left behind"...We all want a great explaination about a lot of things, TWD doesn't provide us that answer but makes us question every thing else...It's a human show starring non human Zombies(occassionally)...It really makes you wonder, would my wife Leave me behind and find comfort in another man's arms??? Would my son still love His Father the same if he found a new protector??? questions like this pop up all the time while Im watching the Show and that's what makes it so interesting to me, It's the game we play in our own heads after the credits roll...Please give it a chance, It's not just mindless action or zombie-centric episode after episode...
How do you not smell a barn full of dead people less than a mile away from where you sleep..iknow its for the suspense of the show but the barn was right under their nose the whole time. They dragged out the "Where is Sophia" thing longer than needed #NancyGrace
I still thought it was kind of awesome. The zombies on that show are super legit too, unlike a lot of other zombie fare as of late. Shane is a d!ck, but I am sure that situation would make you question a number of your beliefs. Wonder what the hell Herschel is going to do? Thinking they might mutiny his old @ss or something. Well, I want the show back sooner rather than later.
He'd be Zombie lunch ASAP...But yeah, I think Herschel takes off by himself...I believe he leaves Maggie and Glen behind to take care of the Farm(because He Dies in the Comics and leaves Maggie and Glen with his blessings) Also Sophia never died in the Books, Daryl doesn't exist(as well as Merle) and Andrea becomes a effing Beast...
Not to spoil anything but don't get too attached to Shane, Carl(Rick's son) Kills Shane in the Comics, don't know if it happens on the show, but in the Bokks Shane dies early on...Also Laurie(The &$#%#&@! wife) gets killed while carrying that &$#%#&@!'s child, so she should only be around to annoy us for a little longer...McBased, the Barn walkers were kinda close by but would you be investigating the entire farm when youre still looking for a Missing Little girl and avoiding death every day...IDK, that barn would have been the last thing I would be worried about...
Thanks for the insights, The Scare Crow. To you, The Don, McFrosty, or anyone else, what are some other good shows out there? They can be past or present. I like stuff that is suspenseful, mysterious, and dramatic.
I brought up Carnivale, The Wire, or Prison Break before.
Has anyone seen Nip/Tuck?
I see what you mean scarecrow but Herchel knew the fat dude wrangled zombies to lock them up so when he knew they were looking for a lost girl he should have let them check the barn for her(or if he didnt want them to know) he should have had the lady that was feeding them see if there was a young girl in there
Like i said i know for some shows story to have a bigger affect you have to ignore common sense at times
and p.s. scarecrow since you have read the graphic novel there was a site that was posting spoilers for the show from some writer or something that was fired...the spoilers they had for the finale were right so if he is right again....a special character is in the 2nd half of the season...
Im actually a Anti Spoiler guy but I would be shocked If Merle doesn't come back by the end of the Year...
The writer of the novel said he wouldnt be but who knows with as many changes they have made so far
You and your obsession with graphic novels and comics! For shame sir! Lol, just kidding, that is actually cool to know, Shane is a d-bag and I never trusted him after the way Rick was left in the hospital. That guy is a self absorbed d!ck. Carl was right, he was talking straight bull!sh. But, yes, I like the show and I went to the Zombie film festival in Portland two years in a row. Moving is the only thing that has kept me from going even more.
As far as shows, Dale AgainstTheSpreadington, I have many I like, many I have not had a chance to watch that I am sure I would like and many I have little interest in. Nip/Tuck is in the second category, I have been assured I would like it and I heard it was good, just never got into it when it was on or since. Carnivale is also in that category, I remember trying to watch the first episode of season 2 as it was all that was on demand and being completely f*cking confused. I always wanted to watch it, but I never had HBO until it was already gone.
I watched the first ep of Prison Break and I just thought the tattoo thing and all were a little blah. Yes, blah. Still, sure I might like it if given the chance. The Wire is the effing goods, though I still need to watch the last half of season 4 and all of season 5. Loved everything before than, however.
I got McLahey into watching "Trailer Park Boys". It is a Canadian show that was one of the few Canadian things I brought with me to college. I got a lot of people into it and it is insanely popular in Canadia and has its following state side. Just a funny show, with heart, think it is on Netflix or whatever. Current shows I watch include and are not limited to:
- The Killing (AMC is real, have not seen Hell on Wheels yet but I have loved stuff AMC has put out)
- Mad Men
- Breaking Bad
- It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX Canada has sucked @ss, it seems to have no on demand and all of the shows are mid-season. Canada TV sucks. Still, watched some eps when I was home for thanksgiving and died. Love this show)
- Anything cartoon Adult Swim (which is also hard to keep up with now that I am in Canada. Also, while I have seen good live action Adult Swim, odds are if your name is not "Tim" or "Eric", I know very little about your show)
- Boarwalk Empire (I actually thought Scarecrow's "Boringwalk Empire" thing was funny as hell, but I watch the show and kind of like it. Not saying it is even close to as awesome as some of the other shows out there, but as a Mafia and gang activity buff, I find it non-offensive and fairly realistic. So, I am cool with it)
- Bored to Death (Not the greatest show by any means, but it has an awesome cast that has some chemistry. I can actually wait long enough to marathon the show rather than watch each episode, but it is a solid little ditty)
- Curb Your Enthusiasm (Amazing
- Anything Ricky Gervais touches (Though his cartoon blog show on HBO is not something I go crazy over)
- Anything Chris Lilley rocks
Well, that is a little starter. If I left off a show you like, I am sorry, but I either do not watch it or have it on my have watched archive. Just wanted to give some idea of what I watch other than sports and movies.
Im sorry Mikey but unless you guys get a different lineup Adult Swim sucks now...all the good shows like aqua teens, venture brothers, Boondoks(rumor has it), Delocated, etc take nearly year long breaks. In the meantime we get reruns of Family Guy and American Dad
Or what about Bunny Ranch.....nevermind
Thanks for the recs The Don.
Boardwalk Empire is pretty damn boring IMO. I'm with mah boi SC on that one.
Curb Your Enthusiasm is very clever. Larry David is the man.
Never seen Sunny in Killadelphia although I've heard it's groovy.
I really like The Killing. I missed the final 2 episodes but it was a nice show. The detective with the mustache (the young guy) is a great up-and-coming actor. I really liked his character on the show.
MikeyV, baby, I've been to Canadia a few times -- Montreal, Mont Tremblant, Toronto, and the countryside which was really scenic although I forget the exact names of the towns. I love Canada.
So, you can have your cold weather and cr@ppy TV Dale. Na, Canadia is not horrible, in small doses (like I am sure your trips were). But, I prefer los Estados Unidos (sure my Spanish is awful). I rip on Canada a lot though. Do not hate everything about it, but many things here are as ridiculous as they are in the US.
How is Windsor, Ontario? It's literally right next door to Detroit. I may be living in Detroit in a couple years.
inb4 Dale gets stabbed to death.
New York, Boston, Baltimore, Toronto, Cleveland (Detroit's little brother), Killadelphia, D.C., Cincy, and Pittsburgh are also on my list.
Depends on where the offers are at and how much moneh I'm looking at.
Don't be too hard on yourself about your Spanish MikeyV, None of us ever learn any Spanish in school, all that matters is whether you get an A in the class, lol.
Spanish in school is bs, i stared at the tv clock the whole time and got a C in the class, not the greatest grade but I already know 2 languages(italian, english) and speaking spanish is not in my future anymore since im moving back to italy soon
Dragonball z is the best show ever jerks
I have savoir faire extreme in French, though (not really). I went to Windsor once, seemed like it was alright though I do not know a lot of people that love it. I am sure you will not have any problems where ever you go Dale, with your immortality and all. If you come to Toronto, they have a nice reitrement community (Soprano's reference) near me, I would drop by for visiting hours and every now and than.
I did the same Scott, except I ended up getting a B the first time and A's ever since. My technique is to cram the night berfore the test, and it works, but I'm really slow ar making those connections, so I'm always the last one done with the test even when I do well, lol.
But I'm screwed next year when I get into Spanish five, when I will have a teacher that actually makes us do work, lol.
I appreciate that, Mike. If I'm in Toronto, I would gladly welcome your company in my retirement home. However, that shouldn't be for a few years.
That is correct! I am immortal. It's that waterproof stuff that is flowing through my veins. Stabbing me would do little, if anything. Also, I believe I recently said that "you can't kill a God" in response to someone claiming that I died. I said that in jest, but who knows, maybe it's true! Doubt it. But an old man can dream, after all.
Well everyone, The Walking Dead is back. Anyone got any opinions? Any thoughts? Personally I'm glad to see that Rick is finally turning into the Rick I know from the graphic novels who will do whatever it takes to take care of his family,...even if that means murdering in cold blood. Personally I have no idea where this season is going to head, because it has began heading in a direction unknown from the books.
I saw someone was talking about a special character coming up in the second half of the season, and saw you were thinking Merl would be coming back. Any thoughts on Machonne potentially coming around or perhaps Tyreese? I had read that there were talks of bringing in Machonne as early as this season, but I'm not sure if thats a great idea bringing her in this soon. I'm actually hoping they save herself and the entire Governor storyline for a few more seasons away.
Personally, I suggest everyone on here begins to read The Walking Dead graphic novels. It's hard to believe, but personally, I think they're every bit as good or better than the show.
I am a huge fan of the graphic novels and love the direction the show is headed...Not to spoil anything for anyone but the season will end in a very shocking mannor...
I believe they will save the Michonne character for next season, and the Governor/Town story as well...I'm really concerned for how they handle the Laurie pregnancy, I don't want to see an entire season revolve around her being pregnant, but we may have too in order to not rush the plotline, although I'd love to see her die at some point sooner than later...
also I always taught T-Dogg was supposed to be a &$#%#&@! version of Tyreese, maybe they can develop that charactor better in the future and bring out his bad ass nature...instead of almost dying from a gash...
The females need to improve, Maggie is the best of the bunch and the only one we don't want to see eaten...this makes Michonne more and more likely, adding some more color to the show could help too...
Darryl and Carol worry me, I don't want to see them end up falling in love, nor do I want both charactors to be killed off in a dramatic fashion...I want more Darryl Dixon and I would love to Carol die this season...The more I think of it though Darryl and Carol are doomed charactors, they don't really fit in with the group longterm...
The Greene family has to be killed off too...The group has been on the farm for far too long, now may be the time to kill the Greene Gang and let Maggie leave with the new group...I don't expect Shane, TDogg or The Greene's to make it to season 3...I'd love to see Laurie get the axe this season too...Kill Shane next week or the episode before the finale, and then kill Laurie in the Final moments of season 2...This would leave the audience in WTF mode going into season 3...
Scarecrow, I have not read the Graphic Novels (would actually love too), but man, you want to off everyone. You would be a guy I would be down with in the zombie apocalypse. Better not try to kill me, but if we realized that we could talk basketball to make the apocalypse that much more livable, we could accomplish a lot. But, I hate Shane at this point, that dude has to be offed.
I would kill most. I think if you kill Herschel and his family, you can't keep Maggie. Sure, she is pretty much the only chick worth a f#ck at this point, but she can't be trusted if you kill her family. Don't think she loves Glen that much, think she was just pissed at her dad. The person you are underrating in who they should probably kill at this point is Andrea. She can f#ck up a cup of coffee. Laurie at least is better looking, though she is pretty effing dumb. Basically, my friend and I have been talking, and this show is dooming women when Z-Day hits.
They killed a ton a Zombies, Found out they were all infected and Laurie is still a &$#%#&@!...
T Dogg made it out alive, he actually lived longer than Dale and Shane...
Herchel and his two girls Maggie and Beth made it off the Farm and the only casualties were Jimmy and Patricia...
Michonne saved Andreas ass in the woods, Rick is looking a lot like Shane 2.0 and next season should be super Crazy with the Group finding the Prison and all...
I wouldn't be shocked to see Randall's group "Woodbury" treathen the group's lives next year...
I'm convinced that T-Dogg is going to be the Star of The Show next year, LOL...
...the 'cism is strong in this season
...watch your back my brother
