At the end of their career one of them is going to be better. Who would be better if they did this:

    Wade: 3 championships
    LeBron: 4 mvps

Or whatever the number is if it’s like that, who’s better?

Well, this is vague. Do you mean if Wade one only 3 championships and nothing else and LeBron won 4 MVP’s with no rings? If so I still think LeBron would be better in my mind. For instance ,Kobe has 4 championships yet A.I. has none, but I still think Iverson was the better player, but thats besides the point.

mikenike, you honestly think AI was better then Kobe? Come on man, AI never played team ball or defense or won anything. Anyways, back to lemons, it’s impossible to say. I think Lebron is/will be better. Championships are important, but not everything when evaluating individual talent. Karl Malone is the best pf ever imo but never won a title.

I can gaurantee you that every GM/owner in the league would pick Kobe over Iverson if given the opportunity to do the 1996 draft over again.

AI over KOBE? what was in that turkey you ate today mikenike? There is no possible way i could see anybody taking a ball hogging PG over one of the greatest of all time. Kobe has 4 rings with more to come while AI cant even get picked up by a single team. Dont get me wrong, iverson is a great player. He totally changed the game, he gave small 6 ft kids hope of making it to the NBA, but Kobe is 100x the better player.

and to argue your other point mikenike.. if Wade has three champions and Lebron 0 then wade is obviously the better player. He would have led his team and won the championship two more times while lebron simply couldnt get it done. I guarantee you anybody would rather have 3 championships than an MVP trophy. You vote for an MVP. you WIN a CHAMPIONSHIP

Hey Tyrober, I know for a fact that Ewing, Malone, Barkley and Stockon would disagree with you. I’m sure theyre quite happy with careers. Thats like saying most NBA players today would prefer Robert Horry’s career over one of those legends of the game.

Here’s the thing: I really believe fans of sports overvalue winning. They act like greatness is only verified with a championship, and if you don’t win a championship, it somehow is a negative indication of your skills. This isnt golf or tennis. Lebron “cant get it done” by himself. Theres 4 other players on the floor (for a championship caliber team, some of those other players are stars), 8 more on the roster, and 29 other teams that have something to say about a championship. Yes players want to win, that why so many stars join up at towards the end of their career to try and get at least one. But many times, their greatness has been established.

In regards to Iverson, he was the most unstoppable guard ever in his prime, because he would not let you stop him. While his playstyle doesnt lend itself to being anything other than the premiere player, that doesnt change his status as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, period.

Me personally, I would rather be one of the greatest players of all time and not win a championship, than a role player on a championship team. Ask Pippen how that was.

I think Pippen was a more than just a role player on a championship team though. I can understand using Horry in that light, but not Pippen. Pippen is one of the greatest small forwards to ever play the game. He just happened to play with THE greatest player to EVER play the game.

In the situation with LeBron and Wade, I think Wade would have to be considered the better player if he won 3 championships to LeBron’s 0. This isn’t LeBron compared to Horry. This is LeBron compared to another great player in Wade who’s putting up great stats and achievments also. If Wade was able to lead his team to the Finals and win 3 times and LeBron couldn’t… I’d have to consider Wade the better player.

Kobe Bryant is better than Allen Iverson… Kobe is unique in a sense that he’s like a wine… He just keeps getting better along with his age… As he grows older, he becomes better and better in terms of team basketball and in terms of winning… That’s because he is willing to sacrifice… Hear that AI? SACRIFICE… S-A-C-R-I-F-I-C-E for the good of the team and he now has a championship ring that he could consider his own… AI started bickering after 1 game in Memphis… Well, he did make a promise that “God wants me to end my career in Memphis”… No doubt Iverson is a great player… in terms of individual achievements but he will always belong to the same sentence with Sir Charles and The Mailman as great players who has never won a title…

to mkadoza. did you even read what i posted? you can ask barkley ewing or whoever you want and i guarantee you they will pick a championship over an mvp trophy. my point was players would have have a championship ring on their finger instead of a trophy on the wall. im sure those players wouldnt trade their careers for robert horrys career either.greatness is sealed with a championship

Wade would be better if he gets 3 rings becaz he’ll have done it in the big spot unless he gets great players around him.
Lebron is only 25 I’d be shocked if he didn’t get at least 2 rings before he retired. You get the feeling he might sign a contract that lets him have an out after 3 years if he’s not happy with the team. Also he’d want a good nucleus around him which would rule out the Cavs most likely. Miami is a lil overrated but the team is young. Wade and his agent talk too much talking about playing with Lebron, Bosh and being the last to sign he’s not the best or most valuable of free agents.

    this is tough.

you see, people have amazing love and hype for lebron james. Not saying that wade doesn’t, but i bet lebron will always be named the better player between the 2…..no matter what. it’s kinda sad.

I’m a big d-wade fan, I just see people always saying lebron is/was better.

wade because mvp is a regular season award which means if wade wins 3 rings he will also have 3 finals mvp trophys and those look a lot better than regular season mvps. I think if this happens people wont be able to argue who the better player is cuz the best players lead their teams to championships and thats what seperates them from the really good players. Ewing, malone, and all those other guys get a break cuz they played in the jordan era but name a player from that era thats called a all-time great that didnt win a ring?
