aamir543ParticipantGreat posts Basterdinabasketball, but I feel we should have voted for second greatest of all time, cause MJ is obviously the greatest.

BasterdInABasketParticipantCould Do that. I did top 2 for SGs because of that but didnt think of it for all time. There was one who voted for Russell but he wasnt a finalist.

Memphis MadnessParticipantGreat observation aamir. The contest for second best ever would be very interesting. I think I would vote for Magic Johnson because he is one of the best passers ever and he can also score from anywhere
and rebound and he is a leader and a winner.0 - Posted on: Wed, 08/03/2011 - 5:08pm #583648

aamir543ParticipantThere are so many ways you could go with second of all time, and Magic is one I would be perfectly fine with, but IMO, Kareem is the 2nd GOAT. He was so good for so long, and that sky hook is the most unguardable shot of all time. Wilt, Oscar Robertson, Larry, and possibly even Timmy D, and just maybe Karl Malone and a couple more guys are viable candidates.

MkadozaParticipantI would have to agree with Aamir. I honestly would have voted Kareem 1, just to shake things up, because I dont know how me say the all time leading scorer, fourth leading rebounder, third shot blocker (who knows what thes number would look like if Russell and Wilts block counted.. but I digress), 6 time champion and 6 time MVP is the best of all time can really be wrong.
I jump back and forth, because part of Jordans mystique comes from the massive marketing of everything Jordan. Where as Kareem probably wasnt in the top ten most popular players of either decade he dominated.
Ehhh…. I’m going to have to call it a tie at the moment, and leave it at that, but just for kicks the rest of my list is Wilt, Olajuwan, Magic, Bird and Russell are tied (another cop out), Oscar, Shaq, Duncan.

MkadozaParticipantAlso, how Lebron got no vote for the best player in the League in 5 years in interesting as well. He’s only 26. He’s still developing, with an array of skills already. My money is he learn how to post up in the next 5 years and maintains his level of dominance. Because Durant will never be able to pass like that, and that may keep Lebron as a MVP candidate for a long time.

aamir543ParticipantThe reason Lebron got no vote is because Durant beat him in the Small Foward Poll, otherwise I believe Lebron would have been second or third.
