    1. Best PF right now? Pau Gasol

    2. Best PF in 5 years? Kevin Love (Griffin a very close 2nd)

    3. Most underrated? Scola or Brand. With the production these two have had over their career it’s still hard to believe both were anmenstied. (But for the sake of being official I will go Scola)

    4. Overrated? Boozer, he gets paid that much to only play one side of the ball.

The fact that you have the 2011 results still on hand and re post that is awesome. This is exactly the type of post that this board needs during a down time in NBA and free agency!

    2. Best PF in 5 years? Anthony Davis

    3. Most underrated? Lamarcus Aldridge

    4. Overrated? Kevin Love… He’s a very good shooter and rebounder, but that doesn’t equate to best power forward in the NBA. He’s still slow at moving his feet and can’t play defense. He doesn’t make the game easier for his teammates either.

    5. Best Young PF (2 yrs or less exp. in league)? Anthony Davis

    6. Best Rookie PF? Anthony Davis

    7. Most athletic? Blake Griffin, but let’s hope he can avoid these knee injuries.

    8. Most skilled? Pau Gasol

    9. Best leader? Kevin Garnett

(Note: Duncan is a center.  He played PF for a couple of seasons when Robinson was on the squad, but he’s a 5 and we all know it.  He’s been the anchor of his D and the biggest player on his team for his entire career.  He’s been the guy guarding the best interior player his entire career.  He’s usually been listed as a 4, but the person the Spurs claim is playing the 5 is generally smaller than him and incapable of guarding the rim or opposing 5s.  As a result, Duncan is the 5.  IMO Duncan is innacurrately being called a 4 by the NBA for legacy purposes since it allows them to say, "The best PF of all time!"  Obviously they couldn’t say anything similar if he were listed as a 5.  Garnett falls into this rant as well, but to a lesser degree.  He’s actually a legitimate 4, who has played the bulk of his career as a 5 out of necessity–rather than a 5 who has played the 5, but is incorrectly called a 4 like Duncan.  I included KG, but not TD into my rating.  If I had included them my top two would have been Malone/Duncan.)

With Kaman + Okafor gone and the addition of Ryan Anderson it looks like Davis is going to be playing at Center so I want to include him in that pole, but it doesn’t look like anyone else is so….

     1. Best PF right now? Dirk

    2. Best PF in 5 years? Like everyone else I want to say Anthony Davis, but it looks like he might end up playing center so Kevin Love

    3. Most underrated? LaMarcus Aldridge

    4. Overrated? Everyone knows that Boozer and Amare are god awful right?

I’m sure there will be times Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson are on the floor together, but the Hornets acquired Robin Lopez so that Davis can play power forward.

    1. Best PF right now? Kevin Love, i think Love edges his power forward peers slightly due to the overall package he brings, in terms of shooting, rebounding, passing and scoring that is. He’s very poor on the defensive end but i don’t think that should restrict him from being the best power forward in the NBA.

    2. Best PF in 5 years? Blake Griffin, he dominated and electrified the NBA when he made his belated NBA debut and barring injuries should be at the top of the power forward mountain in five years.

    3. Most underrated? Ersan Ilyasova, i seldom hear about him on forums, yet, he performed admirably this season and had a couple of break-out games, his 29pts and 25rebs (career high) stands out but he had many other gems this past season.

    4. Overrated? Brain Scalabrine, i don’t think there are any power forwards that are grossly overrated, i’m just going to slot ‘the white mamba’ in this enquiry.

    5. Best Young PF (2 yrs or less exp. in league)? Anthony Davis.

    6. Best Rookie PF? Anthony Davis, if he impacts the NBA like he did for Kentucky, this isn’t even close.

    7. Most athletic? Blake Griffin and Josh Smith (Tie), Both are freak athletes and i couldn’t decide between who is the most athletic, therefore it’s a tie for me.

    8. Most skilled? Pau Gasol, getting older but finds ways to be effective, has really soft hands and demonstates guard play whenever he’s on the hardwood.

    9. Best leader? Kevin Garnett, When he landed in Boston, a change of mentality occured, Garnett was one of the main reasons why they become such an outstanding defensive unit, inspires his team with his plays and attitude, which the latter is amongst the best in the league.

    10. Top Two All-Time? Tim Duncan and Charles Barkley, Duncan is my greatest power forward of all-time, his NBA resume speaks for itself and is one of the most quietly dominant players of all-time.

Barkley was undersized but he showed that it didn’t matter as long as you were talented enough, and if it wasn’t for Jordan, he would’ve got his ring, he was the epitome of an overachiever and that is why he’s my second best power forward.

     1. Best PF right now? – Kevin Love

    2. Best PF in 5 years? – Lebron James – I think he’s going to move to the PF position in his early 30’s as he slows down athletically and Miami moves Bosh to the C to play small ball.  Magic was a PF when he returned to the league in his mid 30’s.

    3. Most underrated? – Greg Monroe

    4. Overrated? – Amare Stoudamire

I think everyone is missing out on Derrick Favors, he was touted as the number one player coming out of high school for a reason and he started to show some signs of realizing he can be very good at the end of last yr. Favors is extremely athletic , he has more offensive skills than most people think and he is starting to say the right things, like I can be another Karl Malone, face of the franchise type player. Defensively he can be alot like Howard but he has much for of an offensive game , this next yr will be big for D Favors and he will show himself as one of the top young PF’s in the league.

    Best right now: Kevin Love

    Best in 5 yrs: Favors

    Underrated; Favors

    Overrated; Boozer/Stoudamire

Best young < 2 yrs: Favors, Best rookie: Davis: Most athletic: Griffin; Most skilled; Love/Dirk Best leader; Garnett: Best all time: Malone :  Duncan is a 5.

Blake Griffin has only played two years so I guess he qualifies for the best power forward with 2 years or less experience in the league.

But, if you mean a guy who will be playing in his second year next year I will stick with Kenneth Faried.

For best all-time I have Barkley behind Duncan but there is a drop off after TD. Sir Charles is slightly ahead of Karl Malone and Kevin Garnett for second place due to his versatility (could handle and pass like a guard, dominated the backboard, and kicked butt on the Dream Team). Number five should be Kevin McHale a prototype power forward who could also defend and block shots to go along with his low post scoring. Three titles helps his cause. Bob Pettit is the best old-school power forward that no one on here saw play.

I have Dirk as the best power forward due to his shooting, scoring, and clutch play. Decent rebounder, not great. I also considered Chris Bosh, Kevin Garnett, and Tim Duncan (gives us some Vintage Timmy games, but not enough). I might be able to add Pau Gasol and Z Bo to this list if they bounce back next year.

Anthony Davis is a power forward, but might end up playing the Stretch Five (I heard someone one here use that term several days ago and I love that term). Serge Ibaka is a power forward but might need to slide over to center necessitating a trade of Kendrick Perkins. Ibaka, Perry Jones, and Durant should be their front line of the future.

I considered Udonis Haslem as the best leader among the power forwards before deciding on Tim Duncan. KG is a great leader but so is Paul Pierce. Rondo is a good one, too, as was Ray Allen. Although next year we could be putting Anthony Davis’ name here.

    2. Best PF in 5 years? Kevin Love- will still be just as dominant but Blake Griffin could make it interesting depending on how his game develops.

    3. Most underrated? tie Zach Randolph and Paul Milsap- beast!

    4. Overrated? Carlos Boozer and Amare- dont know why Amare ever left Phoenix; Steve Nash made him.

    6. Best Rookie PF? Kenneth Faried

    7. Most athletic? Blake Griffin- ask Kendrick Perkins lol

    8. Most skilled? Chris Bosh- he’s added range out to the nba 3 point line. There just aren’t very many holes in his game.

    1. Best PF right now? –

    2. Best PF in 5 years? – Anthony Davis (I feel like he’s going to really refine his game offesnively and be a really fundamental PF in the league. My only wish is that he has a legitimate PG who can set him up easily- sorry Rivers fans but I’m not sold on him as PG of the Hornets just yet)

    3. Most underrated? – Paul Millsap (Wanted to put Greg Monroe here too but he played more of a Center role for the Pistons until this upcoming year. Millsap is just such a hardworker but he’ll be one of those guys who will probably never make it on an All-star game out in the West)

    4. Overrated? – Carlos Boozer (Skilled offensively but he didn’t show up sometimes in big games. And we all know about his defensive woes)

    5. Best Young PF (2 yrs or less exp. in league)? – Greg Monroe (I’ll put him here if we are counting him as a PF now. Derrick Favors in the playoffs really opened my eyes because he could be very special if he does get more PT next year)

    6. Best Rookie PF? – Anthony Davis.

    7. Most athletic? – Blake Griffin (BUT, Kennith Faried is really up there. Faried has had some unbelievable jams so far)

    8. Most skilled? – Dirk (Gotta admire the way he still gets it done. He’s really made an effort to become a better player overall rather)

    9. Best leader? – Tim Duncan (can’t stand this boring dude lol. But he’s been easily the best leader for a while. He leads by example and always wins)

    10. Top Two All-Time? – Tim Duncan, Charles Barkley (slightly over Karl Malone because I’m biased lol. Chuck was a beast plain and simple)

     1. Best PF right now? Dirk easily. By far best scorer most clutch underrated defender and carried a team to a nba championship.

    2. Best PF in 5 years? Anthony Davis. If he can develop some post moves and muscle he will be the best because his defense already is better than Love and Griffin.

    3. Most underrated? Chris Bosh some people act like hes a role player but he was a bonafide star in toronto and carried teams to the playoffs.

    4. Overrated? Ibaka the fact that there was even a thought that oklahoma city would offer him an extension over Harden is crazy. Nick Collison gets PT over him in crunch time for gods sake. His defense is also really overrated.

    5. Best Young PF (2 yrs or less exp. in league)? Greg Monroe. He just needs to be more assertive. Hes got a complete offensive arsenal.

    6. Best Rookie PF? Davis duhh

    7. Most athletic? Griffin

    8. Most skilled? Dirk

    9. Best leader? Dirk

    1. Best PF right now?- Tim Duncan

    2. Best PF in 5 years?- Anthony Davis

    3. Most underrated?-Paul Milsap

    4. Overrated?- Blake and Amare -both relying too much on athleticism and not enough on fundamentals, eventually their knees are gonna give out..so what else do you have

    5. Best Young PF (2 yrs or less exp. in league)?- Anthony Davis

    6. Best Rookie PF?- Ant Davis

    7. Most athletic?- Blake G and Josh Smith

    8. Most skilled?- Dirk..one of most most hardest players to guard…he can go inside and out with a unblockable jumper.

    9. Best leader?- Tim Duncan

    10. All Time- Tim Duncan and Rasheed Wallace- Tim duncan always played with composure, smarts, fundamentals. And was a champion…Rasheed Wallace, imo was always underrated..He was best stretch 4 (meaning all the way out to the 3 point line) with one of the turn around jumpers in the game..very good post game and underrated defender (always used his anticipation and smarts to lock-down defenders..ask dwight howard)..great teammate always held his own. It just that the technicals fouls and ejections he recieved people always kept on their radar. (yes i took in the fact the he doesn’t put forth the effort everynight)This is why he get the nod over KG and Dirk

Can everyone please stop saying Kevin love is better then Dirk ?? If those 2 traded teams right now the T-Wolves would go from maybe making the playoffs to for sure making the playoffs, and the mavs would goin from playoff team to probably not making the playoffs…..

For the Best Young PF (2 yrs or less exp. in league) part, I didn’t pick Blake Griffin only because he’s honestly been in the league three seasons… He played summer league, did training camp and played in the pre-season his rookie season. And even when he got injured, he still got experience from observation, etc.

But if we’re not counting that, of course I pick him for that part and not Anthony Davis.

For the record I am not considering Garnett a PF, since he played center for the end of last year and is clearly going to be the Celtics starting center this season.

    10. Top Two All-Time? Duncan, Garnett….I’m putting Garnett over Malone just because Garnett has been a more versatile player over his career.  Malone was the better scorer, but other than that I think Garnett was better than him in every other aspect of the game.

      ————————————————————————————————————————-

You know, the more I hear this argument the more convinced I am that it’s right. Malone was a better scorer and had such a long, consistant and ultra productive career (17 straight seasons of at least 20.6 PPG and 14 straight years of at least 9.4 RPG). He was a good passer and an underrated defender but certainly not on the level of Garnett. Garnett wasn’t quite on the level of scoring but was a better rebounder, ball handler, passer, has been more versatile (playing all three frontcourt positions at an All-Star level), is one of the greatest defensive players in NBA history and has that NBA championship ring which eluded the Mailman.

Who knows, the next time one of these questions comes up on the forums I might pick KG over Malone too.

^I can get you saying Al Jefferson is the most skilled, but I see no way on earth how Andray Blatche is moer skilled than Timmy, Pau, Dirk, KG, Love or any of those guys individualies, let alone all of those guys.

Blatche handles the ball like a guard and has a wide array of post moves. Just because he doesn’t get as much publicity as those guys doesn’t mean he’s not as skilled.
