I posted a thread on Nikola last season about him and his teammate Alex Stepheson & called them the twin towers of USC. He’s putting up 18 and 10 per game as a junior at USC, and is also shooting 37% from beyond the arc.

His game has come a long way since he arrived to ‘SC. Every year, he has continued to improve. I honeslty, didn’t think much of him when Tim Floyd brought him aboard – but seen the flashes when USC went up against Michigan State in 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament back in 2008.

Against the toughest opponents this season, Nik has shined, but still no love. What gives?

a coupe threads have been started about him and his getting no love from this site and so far nobody really has a reason. I would love to hear aran smiths take becasue the guy is damn good. He is a true inside big man who does most his work in the post but also can step out. 18 and 10 and over 50% from the field.

I know you follow the PAC 10 awfully close based on your previous posts here on this forum. Nik really does have the total package offensively in terms of — scoring down low, and stepping out to knock down shots from the perimeter which he really is comfortable with, and has a nice form. He also is no slouch on the boards, does a good job contesting/changing shots, and has his share of blocks.

There is no reason to believe that he won’t be a first round draft pick in this upcoming draft, but then again from a USC fan perspective; I hope he stays 🙂

last i heard he was looking into where his draft stock is and he would not enter unless he was a certain first rounder. Personally i think he could go first round. His only real concern is adding some muscle.

He’s reportedly starting to get a lot of buzz, and he’s undecided on whether he’s going back to college. Personally, I have to see more of him to get a good read, although I have seen him several times, I’m not sure what I think about his NBA ability quite yet. I will say his improvements as a shooter this season have helped his stock a lot, and he’s gotten stronger, which helps his already good rebounding. His mid-range game is nice, but his back to the basket game I’m not sold about translating. He’s a below the rim guy, and while he is mobile and tenacious, he lacks great overall athletic ability. However, he’s got good length and some burst for a guy whose not a great athlete so, we’ll see. He’s improved his skills quite a bit and he seems to be gaining in terms of popularity with scouts, so he’ll have his chance, whether this year or next.

He looks like Mehmet Okur as a player to me.
