Has anybody else noticed that players like Hollis Thmpson, William Buford, Drew Gordon, Henry Sims, Kevin Jones, JaMychal Green, and Scott Machado all went undrafted? I know Kevin Jones wigned with Cleveland but im surprised none of these players were drafted, as they were expected high second-ronders.

Kid has a lot of intangibles. He see the floor very well. And has a decent shot. His defense could use some work .The only knock on him is his height and that he isnt all that athletic. I though he would be a second rounder for sure.

even though I had some of these players in my mock, its not really surprising that they didnt get drafted…..not in the least bit.  thats not necessarily because the players arent worthy.

first, there was a lot of talent in this draft, so it wasnt enough room for everyone in 60 picks.  secondly, the 2nd round is when teams go crazy on picking International guys, many who will never come to the NBA.  8 international players went in the 2nd round.

also, some of these guys have too many question marks to draft them, better to invite them to Summer League.

JaMychal Green and William Buford are good players but both had poor workouts.  They looked really shaky one on one against counterparts, so I removed them from my mock and wasnt surprised at all they didnt get picked.

Hollis Thompson is a talent.  Wouldve been nice to see him picked, but nobody just wasnt interested, so he will get some invites and likely make a squad.   Teams felt they didnt need to use a pick on Machado either because of his defense and lack of athleticism…but his agent’s phone will be ringing, he will be an excellent backup somewhere.

The game has changed, not much difference now between getting drafted in the 2nd round and going undrafted, for some players its better.  Scottie Reynolds was offered a deal in the NBA but it wasnt fully guaranteed…I believe he accepted more money and a better guarantee to go overseas.  So, its really not a big deal not to get drafted in the 2nd round anymore.  The 1st round is what matters most.
