SubZeroParticipantI get scared everytime Russ Smith starts putting pressure on Julius Mays

SubZeroParticipantIf Chane Behanan was a few inches taller, he would be a legit prospect

JoeWolf1I think he’ll make it, even if its via FA. He’s a ball player, for sure.

SubZeroParticipantDoes he remind you of Thomas Robinson? That’s who comes to mind for me
0- Posted on: Sat, 12/29/2012 - 12:59pm #735970
JoeWolf1He’s still developing but Dejuan Blair with less length.

SiggyParticipantChane reminds me of Trevor Booker.
I think he’ll eventually be a 2nd rounder his senior season. He just needs to at least develop a dependable mid-range jumper.0

phila9012Participantkentucky should get better, but at best they aren’t championship contenders. If 2 guys come back to bring the leadership and experience next year along with all of their talented recruits they should considered a championship favorite next year. The thing that made their national championship team great was that they had guys like jones, lamb, and miller that had experience combined with the talented freshmen.

SubZeroParticipantWiltjer will come back for sure. Hopefully someone like Cauley-Stein (although I feel like he’s the type who will leave even if everyone tells him to stay) or Harrow will stay to help out the incoming class. I think Goodwin, Noel, and Poythress are goners

BigChamp12ParticipantKyle Wiltjer is a shooter and a great one BUT that is it…. He’s helping them while making shots but at the same time he’s hurting them bad on D. He cant get back on D nor chase down a loose ball. His extra effort is terrible. Even on the shot he was fouled on, if only he wouldve jumped he would have made the shot plus the foul.

JoeWolf1WCS will probably end up top 7. He’s really growing on me.
0- Posted on: Sat, 12/29/2012 - 1:03pm #735972
JoeWolf1He reminds me of a 7′ K-Mart ( the way he played in college ) trying to dunk on everyone and a big time shot blocker.
0- Posted on: Sat, 12/29/2012 - 1:15pm #735976
BigChamp12ParticipantYea WCS will definitely be taken early! You cant teach a guy to be 7ft and athletic with a motor… Anything else, he can be taught.
0- Posted on: Sat, 12/29/2012 - 3:18pm #735997
phila9012ParticipantHopefully he can learn to shoot foul shots better, it will be hard for calipari to keep playing him at the end of games when he keeps bricking free throws, and it could hurt him in the NBA. Andre Drummond rushes shots in the paint because he is afraid to get fouled, which results in him not going up strong and finishing plays. I think that he should be a better version deandre jordan. This years draft is loaded with centers, noel, lan, cauley stein, plumlee, withey, gobert, zeller (depending on who drafts him)

SiggyParticipantRuss Smith got big balls (nh).
He’s like a skinny Bobby Jackson. He’s erratic as hell but it’s tough to ignore his impact.0 - Posted on: Sat, 12/29/2012 - 4:25pm #736005
MalcolmxParticipantSome guy compared Russ Smith to Darell Armstrong on another post and I think that comparison is on the money. Darrell was a lock down defender who had quickness and hops like russ does now.

Mr. 19134ParticipantThanks NYBalla I was just coming on here to mention again that I think Russ Thinks plays EXACTLY like Darell Armstrong and he’s most likely a surefire late 1st round pick when he declares due to his energy level, genes, and ability to change the game on offense and wreak havoc on defense. He’s the prototypical energy guy off the bench in the NBA,
Also Willie Calley Stein reminds me of Javelle McGee with his size an athleticism only he got a better frame that McGee. I really hope he stays atleast another year because he’s RAW.
Also I finally understood the Goodwin comparisons to Westbrook today as Archie was able to drive at will late in the game. He has no left hand yet but he’s big time prospect. I really like Goodwin’s shot mechanics, and that 4 point play late in the game was a beauty. He should theoretically stay in college for another year too but with James Young and the Harrison twins coming in he’s as good as gone.
Harrow has to stay right? There’s no way he get’s drafted unless he go’s bananas come tourney time.
Where was Alex P today? And Dieng is a very intriguing player too.

NickWayne87Participantthen there’s no way he should “theoritically stay”. He should be going going gone……he might’ve made him some extra dollars with his performance late in the game today.

theballerwayParticipantmade his name kn the tourney his season on a whole was rather averagel. M.Teagues gonna be a good player im sure but wat did he really DO last year at kentucky.
Whatever happens with this team harrow is still the key for me, really not a mays fan at all.

BasketballJunkie224Participanti think that russ smith is definitely better than siva…siva is good but i agree with the first post hes so overated. wayyy too much hype. he dosnt even look good and his jumpshot looks like shit..like goddamnnn lol
0 - Posted on: Sun, 12/30/2012 - 9:29am #736060
the I in winParticipantI like Poythress but he has to find get a motor, I didn’t see this game but I’m sure he was either spotting up for three or chilling out in the short corner like always.
0- Posted on: Sun, 12/30/2012 - 9:58am #736070
SubZeroParticipantHe only played 15 minutes, but it honestly felt like less than that. He disappeared completely. He has all the tools to be MKG, but he makes worse decisions and definitely doesn’t have the same motor. Noel and Cauley-Stein have much better motors than him

RUDEBOY_ParticipantIn the 1st Half if the Refs had called all of the fouls Louisville were committing the Cardinals would’ve had their entine team fouled out…
Kentucky could’ve won this game, but they looked indecisive, constantly turned the ball over and didnt seem to play with any chemistry..Louisville pace was erratic..I remember the days when Nolan Richardson’s Arkansas teams played that 40 Minutes of Hell Style, they did it with their feet and stayed in front of players…And they had a Flow on the offensive end….Something Louisville didnt yesterday or against Memphis, but they some how squeezed out wins….
That kid Montrelz Harrell looks promising,he might be 1st rounder in 2014…..

ibethorsesParticipantI notice a couple people saying Siva is overrated…..how? I mean, right now he is not in the top 100 prospects on this site or DX. So, you think he is overrated when he is not considered a top 100 prospect?
The dude is making 39% of his 3s, 49% of his 2s, and is an 84% FT shooter. He is 42nd in the nation in assist rate, 70th in steal %, and has a true shooting % hovering just below 60%….
Basically, calling him overrated is stupid…no one has him highly rated at all. If anything he is vastly underrated.
In contrast, I would call Russ Smith a little overrated right now. Great player, but not as valuable to to this Louisville team as Siva is. That said he is a PERFECT fit for a Pitino team. A lock down defender that excels in transition off steals, he wouldn’t be as highly regarded in almost in any other system.
WCS is every bit as good of a prospect as Noel, IMO. Both should be lottery picks this year.
Poythress seems a little bit overrated to me. He doesn’t do anything that well aside from scoring, and I don’t think his scoring ability will translate that well to the NBA. Also, Goodwin was REALLY held in check by UofL until the last few minutes of the game when 4 fouls on Siva, Dieng, and Smith basically handcuffed them. That was the only time Goodwin started scoring. Those guys are first round picks, and I like Goodwin more of the two, but I don’t think either are locks to get second contracts in the NBA.
Dieng is underrated. His age (23) is scaring people away. But he is still young to basketball and the dude is a better person than he is a basketball player. Absolute dream teammate, cares nothing about himself or his stats. In 20 minutes Sat (almost all of which were spent in foul trouble) he had 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. That was also his first game back after breaking his wrist and most thought he wouldn’t even be available for the game. Feeling is that he will return for SR season (unless he has a HUGE late season) and he is projected as a late 1st/early 2nd round guy. Personally, I think he should be a top 20 pick.
