Lost on a buzzer beater to end their 111 straight win streak! This is there first loss since November 2014. What a run! Can only imagine how good the girl feels who hit the shot.

Incredible game! I was glued to my TV

U-Conn was down big early & battled back to send the game to OT

    OT was thrilling

And the GW Shot was as good a shot as you will Ever see in Women’s OR Men’s basketball

I’m not one of those guys that tries to discredit or belittle women’s sports and what State did was incredible (in Mississippi and this was the first time any of the fans have paid attention to their women’s basketball), but as good as you’ll *ever* see? The stakes were extremely high but the shot in and of itself was a pretty basic elbow shot. I can think of a few bigger shots that I’ve seen

Like MJ’s "basic" pullup from the free throw line for the nba championship?

I’m just saying take away the situation and look at the actual shot itself. She dribbled to the elbow and shot and no one really tried to stop her. I said it was a great shot in a huge moment but I don’t like when people exaggerate with women’s sports to make it seem better than it was. It’s like that old WNBA commercial where some of the players said some common criticisms of their game like “all they can do is make jumpers and layups,” and the only highlights they showed were wide open jumpers and layups.

Again, it was one of the biggest shots of the year given the circumstances and I actually enjoyed watching the game. But going “IT WAS THE GREATEST SHOT YOU’LL EVER SEE” is a little much.

And yeah kinda like Jordan’s because looking at *the shot itself* it was a wide open free throw jumper that he’s made millions of times in his life, but he stole the ball and crossed someone up before it which made the whole play more memorable. There were a couple very obvious differences between the 2 plays

I def should have explained it better – I was caught up in the excitement

I wasn’t trying to say the talent level was equal to the men’s Pro game

I just meant b/c it’s a Final 4 game against a All Time great team w/ a record setting Win streak it made the conditions as exciting & dramatic as it gets in college or pro basketball

The girl who hit the winning shot had made an almost identical play at the end of regulation & she was blocked by #24 (who is a 6′ tall national High Jump champion – the Miss St girl is 5’5”) right at the Buzzer! It was soul crushing!

So when she took possession at the top of the key w/ about 5 seconds remaining in OT, she very calmly beat her defender off the dribble, charged into the land & it look like she was going to go right at #24 again but she jab stepped & pulled up for a High arching Jumper & the move caused Just enough hesitation in #24 that by the time she adjusted it looked so close to being blocked again that it seemed like it actually grazed #24’s finger tips!

The girl is So small & the Shot arch was So extreme & the buzzer went off at the hieght of the Arc & then the ball just floats out of the sky & into the net & mighty U-Conn was slain – It was a Pretty Awesome shot! but I def did not mean to imply it was the greatest shot ever taken or anything like that

So please forgive the hyperbole on my part, it felt like history was happening & I Def got caught up in it

Only 5 minutes of womens basketball I’ll ever watch, but at least UCONN lost so I can stop hearing about their streak of beating other womens basketball teams!

     Great game.

    Great shot.

Probably the SIGNATURE shot in the history of women’s basketball.

    Women’s basketball needed this.

Hopefully MSU wins the whole thing!

Then you hope for the MSU-UConn rematch in next year’s title game.

    Can’t have Goliath without David.

Mississippi State might have just saved women’s basketball.

Women needed UConn making a Final four but going down, getting MSU as a giant killer and women’s champ, setting up a potential YUGE rematch next season, and now a great rivalry.

Well, the men NEED two heavyweights — UNC and Gonzaga. Two 1 seeds. Best team on the east coast vs. the best team on the west coast.

Although some sleeper matchups like Zags-Oregon and the Carolina Civil War would be nice; they would be too regional.

Kennedy Meeks vs. Karnowski would be a fun matchup inside, too.
