    tony parker tony parker ‏@tonyparker32

A lot of told me this wasn’t for me I wish I would’ve listened

It seems like Parker is having second thoughts on being at UCLA. Of course, he could be talking about anything, but with UCLA’s less than stellar start to the season and the fact that Parker is averaging less than 9mpg it wouldn’t be hard to make the connection that he is disgruntled with his college decision. There are also rumors of this being Howland’s last year in Westwood.

I followed his circus of a recruitment pretty closely and I can tell you that his parents were wary of him going to UCLA. Not because there was anything wrong with the Bruins, just that they wanted him to be closer to his home in Georgia not on the other side of the country.

They also thought other schools were better fits for Tony as well. Mama Parker wanted Duke or UGA and his Dad wanted OSU or Duke. His idol and good friend Jared Sullinger wanted him at OSU as well.

Tony instead opted to listen to his AAU coach instead of the wisdom of his parents. I brought this up because I’ve always thought it was fascinating how many people try to latch on to recruits and try to get “their due” from these teenagers.

I think this is partly the fault of AAU programs, but I find I have a greater respect for players that try to keep a tight circle and try to not get distracted by all the attention coming their way. Tony Parker made a spectacle about his recruitment and capped it off with an hour long conference before he announced his decision. The guy thought he was Lebron even though he wasn’t that highly touted of a recruit.

Our hype machine in America really can ruin some kids lives. The best example of this is probably Freddy Adu.

He is either disgruntled about his decision to go to UCLA or he didn’t listen to Bazz when he ordered Papa Johns over Dominos.

I feel bad for the guy, but if he really wants to step in and contribute he needs to stop going for thirds and fourths at dinner and start putting in overtime in the gym the guy is really overweight. It’s his fault for listening to his coach instead of his parents or his idol, we all know how corrupt the AAU system is

If PT is the problem then staying at home and going to Georgia was the only “right” move he could’ve made. Out of all the programs mentioned in the OP, that would’ve been the only one he would’ve gotten extended minutes at.

Why didn’t he join in on Shabazz’ and his weight loss program?

I don’t feel sorry for him at all. He let affiliation determine his school, not fit. So what if UCLA and his AAU team were both Adidas? Who cares if UCLA hired his AAU coach? Not including Parker, UCLA was already 4 deep in the front court with legit rotation players to start the season.

Also, his announcement conference only made me feel embarrassed for him. That was quite the spectacle for such an underwhelming recruit. Kid needs some self-awareness.

What a shame. Duke could really use his help once Plumlee and Kelly are gone next year.

REgardless, he isnt as good and in tip top shape as he may be. Were in an age now where we expect all highly rated FR to come in and put up numbers. Kids like him obviously arent quite ready.

lol having a twitter account is probably the worst thing for a highly rated amateur athlete. What good can come from it?

He went to HS about 15 mins from where I live. NOBODY thought it was good for him to go to UCLA. Everyone thought he’d be best at UGA or Alabama. And he never seriously considered either one, smh
