TRC1991ParticipantHey so I saw Minny was hosting workouts yesterday, I was wondering if anyone had a link to their measurements and athletics testing which they said they were planning on recording

mds0549ParticipantI know Rodney Williams wasn’t invited to Chicago but was going to tryout in Minny.

JoeWolf1Rodney did the NJ combine though….
6’5.5” / 6’6.5” 217 lbs 6’11” wingspan 8’8.5” standing reach
36” standing 42.5” max vert
10.78 agility 3.1 sprint.
His 12’3” max reach was his most impressive number IMO

lalailaParticipantthe kid is freak, let alone because of it I believe in the NBA he will improve at least to stay on the roster, so as a 2rounder he has to be a really good pick

LipstickParticipantI remember back in 2010 he was projected to be the 2nd overall pick on this site after his first few games as a Gopher. He showed everything, most notably that freakish athleticism.
But his improvement over his college career has been “meh”. I agree though that his athleticism will land him in the 2nd round. Maybe he’ll find a role as a defensive stopper.

JoeWolf1He’s definately got a chance to go even in the late 1st or early 2nd round if the right team gets sold on him. I look at a guy like Quincey Poindexter who although was a more developed offensive player was just a great physical specemin, about Rodney’s size and athletic ability, and has stuck in the league playing defense and backing up the 3 spot.
I think Rodney, in all reality, will be more of a mid-second pick, but athletic ability can often get a team to take a guy high. For him to really stick in the league, I think he’s gotta work on that jumper, but that is more to get that extension or 2nd contract. I think if he gives his all on defense that will get him a contract as a 2nd rounder.

LipstickParticipantI agree with the Q-Pon comparison.
They also looked at Jared Berggren, another Minnesota native who worked out for the Nets too. Watching him in high school, he has some sneaky athleticism that will probably surprise some teams. He’s another possible 2nd rounder if he can show off his range. I see him as a possible Matt Bonner-type. Not trying to compare white-to-white, but I don’t know how many stretch 4s aren’t white really.

JoeWolf1Yeah, I think Berggren will have a hard time getting drafted. Eric Murphy and Kenny Kadji are better, in my opinion, and Garrett has more upside. I just think if you’re looking at a stretch big man, Berggren is one of the odd men out in the draft. Not to say that he can’t make a team via free agency, the NBA always needs shooters.

phila9012ParticipantI think he will play in the NBA at some point, I think a year or 2 in the NBDL or overseas would help him and make him ready for the NBA and then I think he could have a solid 6 or 7 year career if he develops

phila9012Participantsorry an extension Lets be honest, for guys who go in the mid to late second round or undrafted they will have to earn their spots and not be given time to develop so unless they are NBA ready they will be going overseas or in the NBDL so that they can make an NBA roster at some point. It took chris copeland 6 years to make the NBA it took alan anderson 7 years to make the NBA.
