Charlie SheenParticipantThe new mock has the T’Wolves picking Favors but they already have to PF’s in Love and Jefferson I guess that means one or both are out the door

kanebangerParticipantIt doesnt mean they will for sure take him. But it seems like this whole time the draft talk has been going on that they have been trying to trade love or jefferson so i wouldnt be surprised. I think the nets are dumb if they pass on favors though

FreeJasonryParticipantThat’s kind of a sticky situation because I think if anybody goes it’s Jeffereson. If you trade him you mean to tell me Kevin Love and Favors anchor your front line? Rebounding wise it’s great but right now and possible a few years there will be absolutely no scoring. Which will make Flynn have to work even harder to create with his lack of size and no shooters. If they do draft Favors I expect them to trade him or trade Love but having a Love/Favors front court doesn’t seem appeasing to me. Unless one of them comes off the bench and they either sign or draft another center but there are no scoring centers.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t think the Nets are dumb at all. They’re going for the Johnson, the player they think can contribute right away, and then go after a power forward via free-agency.
There were rumors that the Wolves were really high on Anthony Randolph, but the trade talks fell a part. Favors is raw offensively, but I think he’d compliment either Jefferson or Love very well.

kanebangerParticipantI think New jersey is going to have a cluster fu ck of SF’s if they take johnson

FreeJasonryParticipantI’m curious to know how he complements Love? Love isn’t an offensive threat. He will give you 11pts and 10rbs a game. Defensively yes he does compliment both of them but from an offensive standpoint a Love/Favors combo isn’t what’s up. They are both power forwards.

IndianaBasketballParticipantHow’s that? As of right now, they only have one on the roster and that’s Terrence Williams. I guess two if you classify Chris Douglas-Roberts as a small forward.

IndianaBasketballParticipant@FreeJasonry
Favors is probably a natural power forward, but he has the length/frame to play center.
The starting front court of Jefferson and Love was good offensively, but struggled defensively. Jefferson/Hollins or Jefferson/Milicic was a lot better from a defensive standpoint. I think Favors would really compliment Jefferson well. He’d compliment Love too. It wouldn’t be a great scoring front court, but it’d work.

FreeJasonryParticipantYou just proved my point… They don’t have any room to give up any offense that they have. You said, “it wouldn’t be a great scoring front court, but it’d work.” They still wouldn’t be that good defensively either because Love is somewhat a liability. So their team would still be weak. We need to look at it from an overall team standpoint. They have a suspect backcourt and a suspect frontcourt then. At the end of the day who’s going to put the ball in the basket? Flynn? Sessions? Love? Brewer? And from the looks of it nobody wants to play in Sota’. Let’s just say Favors does turn into an animal on offense it’ll be a repeat of Love/Jefferson except with better D from Favors aspect. Love will still be the same player giving you a lot of rebs and nothing else maybe some outlet passes.
We can agree to disagree I just think they need to look into getting some scoring out there or they’ll be forever drafting prospects hoping for the best.

IndianaBasketballParticipantWho else are they going to take then?

KevinDurantRocksParticipantTotally underestimating Love. I see him being a 20 point threat. He has to shoot the ball better and he has shown how to do it. It’s just a maturing thing.

KevinDurantRocksParticipantThey got flynn and Rubio lol

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThe Wolves will take Favors. There are going to many large sign and trades with so many having cap money to spend. To make those trades work, teams need players with contracts. The Wolves will be in perfect position being that they have expiring contracts, contracts with buyouts as well as 21 million capspace. The Wolves will be able to sit back and collect assets (players and picks) while helping the other teams consumate trades.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantKeep laughing now…. the Wolves will be right there with the Thunder in a very short period of time.
With players that they will be stock piling and their cap space, they will be similar to what Portland was a few years ago.0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/22/2010 - 5:44pm #338167
PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantIt’s to early in this off season to determine who fits where with the Wolves. You won’t recognize most of the roster in about a month.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t know where FreeJasonry is getting that Love isn’t a good offensive player. He’s not in Jefferson’s class as an offensive player and I can’t ever see him averaging 20, but… He’s a good offensive player.
My only problem with Love is that he struggles finishing around the rim in traffic due to his lack of lift and athleticism.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantLove isn’t perfect but he gives a team many 2nd and 3rd chance oppoprtunities on the off. end. He can outlet pass as well as any forward in the league, pair him with Rubio and whoever is on the wings will be scoring huge in transition.
The Wolves won’t need the classic scorers with Love and favors cleaning up the boards, just a couple 3 point shooters and maybe a slasher or 2 off the bench.0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/22/2010 - 7:09pm #338247
FreeJasonryParticipantI never said Love wasn’t good I just don’t feel that pairing him with Favors right now is a long term solution. I had Love on my fantasy basketball team so I know he can score somewhat. I’m just saying that they won’t have enough scoring to win anything. Flynn-Brewer-Love-Favors… Insert a 2. Come on now let’s be realistic about. I’m saying a Favors/Jefferson sounds better because one brings O and the other D. Where Love/Favors nobody brings consistent O and only one bring consistent D.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantI hear what you are saying…. but the Wolves are more into collecting parts right now at this point than trying to make the playoffs. There are so many teams right now “in the state of flux”, (meaning that they are turning over their roster(s) because of the opportunities in freeagency and the strong draft). Because of this there are limitless opportunities to take advantage of the teams trying to be involved in sign and trades as well as teams trying to get additional cap space.

MondogreenParticipantWhen you’re trying to build a team that will contend two or three years from now, the last thing you worry about is whether or not your first round draft pick will give you a viable winning roster immediately. Favors may be able to develop into a franchise player and they’ll have to resign Love before their lineup is good enough to compete. I don’t know if they’d have good chemistry, but if they don’t it might even be a good thing. This team is bound to get a first or second pick eventually… if they keep sucking as bad as they have since KG left town.
