jerb2011ParticipantI have always wondered what the Triangle Offense was, what the key components are to run it succesfully, and could the Thunder run it?

Leftovers16Participantthere was a sports science special covering the "TRIANGLE OFFENSE"… basically its a series of cuts and swing passes that can generate like 500 shot attempts…
its very hard to execute because this system is very team oriented and not all star players want to run it… obiviously the two best players of all time Kobe and Jordan were able to run it…
no the thunders wouldnt be able to because your bigs have to be good passers, shooters, and have low post skills the ball will almost alway go thru the guy in the middle its very complicated to explain you would have to watch the lakers

BiggysmallsParticipantIts essentially a glorified motion offense predicated on ball movement and cutting. Its complicated, yet simple at the same time.
The Thunder should not run the Triangle, High Basketball IQ is needed and Westbrook, Ibaka, Perkins havent shown that in my opinion. The Thunder Bigs can’t pass or shoot well either, they screen well, which works for Durant. It also requires a sort of patience and attention to detail that the Thunder players dont seem to have, they have Westbrook who is more of a freak of nature then a pure basketball player and in a systematic offense he wouldnt be as effective and Durant, who is at his best running off a bevy of screens.
